Chapter 22 The Reason Behind Everything
“Chun, I want to die,” Angela sobbed against Chun’s chest. He heaved out a deep sigh and patted her back for comfort. Chun was surprised when she suddenly hugged him and cried. Being a gentleman, it is natural for him to comfort her, so he led her to the garden for a talk. That was the third time for him to see her come to him crying and he thought he knew what her reason is, or rather WHO her reason is. The first two times, Angela told him about Danson dating some other girl, and that was the same time he realized Danson did not love Angela sincerely. Yet, Danson never freed himself from Angela because he knows if he does, Chun will surely come to the picture.
Over a half and a year ago, there was a huge misunderstanding between Chun and Danson. They were classmates then. Danson’s girlfriend, Genie, broke up with him because of Chun.
[Flashback]
-Arkistrani Headquarters-
“Chun Wu!” Danson yelled and as he confronted him.
“Danson, hey!” He greeted him, but instead of greeting him back, Danson gave him a punch. “What the hell is your problem, Danson!”
“YOU! You’re my problem! You stole my girlfriend!”
“What are you talking about? Who is your girlfriend?”
“Genie Zhou. You’re dating my girlfriend, aren’t you? How can you do something so despicable to me? How can you steal my girlfriend? Why, you son-of-a-pregnant dog?”
“Stop saying harsh words! I don’t know she’s your girlfriend, really. If I had known, I wouldn’t have dated her, Danson.” Chun responded honestly.
Danson scoffed and looked at him, disgusted. “Stop fooling around, Chun Wu. What do you mean you don’t know she’s my girlfriend, you pretentious f*g**t? You can never fool me. Come to think of it, you and that sleeper do deserve each other. But before anything else, I’ll have to show you how much I hate such dirty traitors like you.” In a quick motion, he moved forward to Chun and gave him a strong jab on the stomach.
[End of Flashback]
That jab from Danson made Chun fight back. He realized Danson had already closed his mind. He never wanted to listen to his explanation. He never wanted to listen to the truth. Yes, it’s true that he had been a fool, but he really did not know that Genie is his girlfriend. Had he known, he knew he will never have dated her.
Because of that incident in the headquarters, they were almost expelled from the organization. They even had their record in the guidance office. Chun never liked having an enemy, considering Danson was his classmate and co-member. A month later, he tried to talk to him again, but Danson stood firm and rejected reconciliation. He even threatened Chun, saying he will get even someday.
When Danson became Angela’s boyfriend, Chun had finally understood. Danson kept Angela for a year because he believed he could use her against him. The truth was, he was not devastated when the two became a couple, unlike that pathetic state of Danson when Genie broke up with him. Chun figured maybe it’s because of Danson’s ego.
But now that Danson finally broke up with Angela, he felt as if being stabbed repeated in the chest. When she told him Danson broke up with her because of some other girl, he only thought of one person. Ella Chen.
“Hush, Angela. Don’t waste your tears for that scrooge. He’s not worth a single tear. He’s an absolute jerk. That bastard,” he muttered angrily.
‘How could Ella love a man like that?’
“It’s okay, Angela. You’ll be alright.”
“Thank you, Chun. I don’t know what to do without you.” Angela hugged him tighter.
“Angela… I think you should go home and take a rest.”
Angela sighed and looked him in the eyes. “Help me, Chun. Help me forget him.” She told him as she reached for his lips and kissed him.
Behind the bushes, Ella felt her heart sank, a thousand pins prickling her heart. As she tried her best to remain unnoticed as she leave the Wu's garden, she could feel her heart palpitating. She remembered how people would always say that everybody deserves second chances, but why she hasn't had even a chance to tell Chun her feelings remained an unsolved mystery. Fresh hot tears rolled down her cheeks, and this time, she can't help but wonder how unfair life is. How unfair love can be.
"Chun, why can't you be the one for me?"
=====================================================
-Rock Craze Bar-
That night, Hebe had finally decided what to do. She felt as if she was ready to talk to Jiro about their past and present. She was wishing she could accept what she was about to hear from him. But somehow, she was also scared to know about it. Even though she didn’t know if her decision is right or wrong, she wanted to make things clear once and for all.
After the gig, she walked straight to where Jiro is and told him to meet her outside.
“Tell me your story. I want the whole truth about what really happened that night, Jiro.”
“If I tell you the story, would you believe it?”
That question sent a rush of guilt to her body. “I don’t know. Maybe. But I’m willing to.”
Jiro heaved out a really deep sigh before he continued. “I never cheated on you, Hebe. I also didn’t know how Angela got inside my pad. In fact, I was surprised to see her sleeping on my bed when I woke up from sleeping on the couch. I was drunk that night. It was my band’s anniversary so the guys invited me for a celebration. I knew I was about to go to your because you wanted me to meet your parents, but my mates begged me to stay. I wasn’t able to call you because I left my cell phone in my pad. I borrowed my mate’s phone, but you know how bad I am in numbers so I’m not familiar with your new cell phone number. When I tried to reach you on your landline phone, it was busy. I tried calling you so many times that night.”
Hebe remained silent. She remembered how long George was on the phone that night.
“The next thing I knew, I was already in my pad. I was lying on my living room couch. Then I felt somebody on my top kissing me. When I woke the next day, I tried to find you, thinking that you’re the one I kissed. Then I realized it was just a dream. So I was really surprised when I saw Angela sleeping on my bed. I don’t know how she got there, believe me.”
Silence.
“The next day, you broke up with me. I was devastated, so I tried to find out how Angela got inside my pad that night. I wanted to know the truth to explain it to you. When I asked the security guard of the bar about it, he told me some skinny beautiful lady sent me home. That was Angela.”
Her emotions overpowering her, Hebe didn’t know what to do as she stared at Jiro’s face. Guilt, remorse, sorrow, anger for Angela and sympathy for Jiro filled her heart. Angela really planned everything to drift the two of them apart. ‘That scheming pregnant dog!’
A sudden burst of shame entered her core. She never even tried to listen to Jiro before. She felt dumb and heartless, not to mention relentless. She was really the one who ruined their relationship because she never trusted him. All along, he had been honest to her, but she never gave him the trust he deserved.
“There’s still one thing I need to tell you, Heb.”
“W-what is it?” Hebe asked tentatively, afraid to hear the next revelation.
“Angela Zhang, she’s… my ex-girlfriend.”
Her eyes widened in shock. “What?!”
“That was too long ago, before I met you. I was only in senior high school then. I wasn’t serious at all. Our “relationship” didn’t even last a month. I find her very materialistic and demanding, not to mention, spoiled and immature. I broke up with her and she promised she’ll get back at me. I never believed her, that is, until the day you broke up with me, I realized it was her revenge.”
Hebe couldn’t believe it. Maybe that was the reason why Angela hated her since that day the latter moved in their village. The swank is stalking Jiro whenever he visits Hebe’s home whenever her parents aren’t around.
“I’m sorry if you got tangled up with our problem. She must have guessed how much I love you and that I’d be devastated if I lose you.”
Her eyes turned misty. It had been so long since she felt the urge to cry. She wanted to blame everything on her stupidity and pride. It was her who let Angela ruin their relationship. It was entirely her fault.
“I-I’m sorry…” she mumbled, not looking at him. “It’s all my fault, Jiro.”
Hebe felt Jiro hugged her tightly and kissed her head. “It’s alright, Hebe. Let’s just forget about it.”
She chinned up and stared at him. ‘Why are you not blaming me? I even punched you, called you harsh names and treated you badly.’ She couldn’t help but burst into tears. He brushed her tears with his thumb and looked at her with amusement.
“I had never seen you cry even once, Hebe.”
She hugged him back and continued sobbing quietly against his chest. If only he knew how much tears she shed the time they broke up. “I’m sorry I never trusted you, I even hurt you physically,” she pouted.
Jiro laughed good-naturedly at her remark. “Yeah. That punch from you totally knocked my insides down.”
“I’m so sorry, Jiro,” she apologized whole-heartedly
“Hmmm… I will only accept that ‘sorry’ in one condition.” Jiro smirked.
“What condition?”
“Come back to me. My heart misses you so badly.” He gave her a peck on the lips.
“Only your heart?” She asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Well, also my brain, my liver, my gallbladder, even those insides you knocked down when you punched me, they missed you a lot.”
“In other words, they wanna get punched again?” She asked playfully, a smile curving her lips.
“Nope. They wanna get kissed.” He swiftly leaned forward and gave her a long passionate kiss.

Chapter 23 Overflowing Emotions
======================================
Ella stared at her glass as the bartender pours her some kind of wine. She is sitting in a high chair in front of the counter. She actually doesn’t want to drink anymore because her head is starting to feel dizzy.
All members of their organization were in a bar that night, courtesy of their chairperson, who is celebrating his birthday. They were all invited to come in that particular bar owned by his family, which was reserved for them that day.
Truth was, she really didn't want to go because she's not used to such places and she's not really fond of drinking alcohol. But the chairperson told them that he will be very disappointed if one of them will not come, so she had to go with Danson. He left her for a moment because he had to go to the men's room.
She's not even in a mood to celebrate. How can she celebrate now that she can see Chun and Angela talking in a table far from where she's seated? Why did Chun bring her here anyway?
'Why not? The celebrant told us we can also bring along our boyfriend or girlfriend.'
She sighed heavily. 'Are those two really a couple now?' She felt a painful squeeze in her heart once again. What she witnessed the other night in the Wu's garden is enough for that question to be answered. She lazily grabbed her glass and gulped its contents. She remembered how Chun called Danson names that day. He was really mad because Danson dumped Angela. He must really love that woman.
When her eyes met Chun's, she quickly tore the gaze. He did not have to see how pathetic she looked like while watching him and Angela together. That is also the reason why she lets Danson stick around her. She still don't know what to do with him. How can she tell him she have no feelings for him? With the way she saw it, he is sincere.
She drank another glass of wine. She knew she's getting drunk so she wanted to stop, but when she glanced at Chun's direction again, she saw Angela resting her head on his shoulder. She gritted her teeth.
"I thought you don't like drinking?"
When she turned to look at the owner of that voice, she couldn't recognize at first because of the effects of alcohol. "Calvin? Hey!" She greeted him smiling. He wasn't a member of their organization, but he is a close friend of their chairperson so he is also invited.
"Looks like you're drunk already."
"I'm not drunk yet." She pouted. Though she thought he was right.
"Do you want me to send you home?"
She beamed a smile. It's a good thing he offered to send her home. He's a friend of Chun so she can trust him better than Danson. "Okay. But I don't wanna go home yet. Let's stay and enjoy this party first."
"I think I know what your problem is, Ella."
"You know what my problem is?"
"Yeah." Calvin smiled as he asked the bartender for a drink.
"Really? Tell me if you really know, Calvin."
"Maybe you're in love with your best friend."
Her hand, holding a glass of wine, froze in the air when she heard him say that. She violently turned her head to face him. She looked at Calvin intently for a few seconds, and then burst out laughing. She slapped shoulder playfully. "That's funny, Calvin!"
"If you really love him, tell him your feelings. Who knows? Maybe it's the answer to your problem."
Ella stopped laughing and drank another glass of wine.
"Do you want your relationship stay like that? Do you want Chun to end up with that prissy Angela Zhang? Think about it, Ella. Fight for your love before it's too late."
She pretended to laugh at his remark. "Are you drunk already?"
Calvin smiled and shook his head.
"Dude, you're sitting on my seat." She heard somebody said. It was Danson. "Oh, you're back."
Danson did not utter a word. He looked kind of mad.
"I'll be watching you." Calvin whispered to her ear before he walked away from the counter. She turned to look at Danson, and saw that same angry expression in his face. "Is there a problem with their restrooms here?"
"Ella, tell me, are you really in love with Chun?"
"What are you talking about?" Is he mad because he heard her conversation with Calvin?
"Answer my question."
She tried to laugh it off. "Are you crazy? How will I like him? He's just a friend."
"Then, that's good," Danson replied.
"I think you're just jealous." She laughed and playfully swatted his back.
"I really AM jealous." He looked serious. "I love you, Ella. I won't let Chun steal you away from me."
"Huh? I think you're drunk, Danson."
Their conversation was interrupted by two men who looked like they were Danson's friends. He seemed to be enjoying his conversation with them so she did not bother interrupt. She made herself busy with drinking. When she stole a quick glance to Chun's direction, she caught him staring at her. She remembered what Calvin told her a while ago. She must fight for her love before it's too late. She had been keeping her feelings for him for a really long time now and maybe it's time, the fateful time, for her to finally speak up her love for him.
As if having a mind of its own, she felt her body rose to her feet and started walking to Chun's direction. The power of alcohol gave her enough courage to finally express her overflowing emotions.
She distanced Chun from Angela by slightly pushing the woman. They were surprised with what she did. She caught Angela staring at her sharply. The girl knows she is the reason why his boyfriend dumped her.
"What the devil is your problem?" She heard Angela spat at her.
She felt Chun grabbed her arms because she is starting to sway her body again. "Why have you been drinking? You know you're not used to it."
She smiled at him and pointed an accusing finger at him, "Look who's talking."
"Ella, come on. I'll send you home. You're drunk already."
"Chun?" Angela called his attention. Looks like the swank didn't like his idea.
"I can give you a lift if you want," Chun told her.
"Why don't you let one of your friends send her home instead?" Angela asked demandingly.
"I want to send her home myself."
What he said made her happy so she hugged him tight. He was surprised but he also hugged her back. “Ella, let's go home."
Ella pouted her lips and looked at him. "I miss you..."
"I miss you too," Chun whispered in her ear.
"Arrggghh!!!" Angela threw her hands in the air and stomped her way off.
=================================================
-Chun's car-
Chun was securing Ella's seatbelt when she hugged him all of a sudden.
"Ella... if you weren't drunk, you will never hug me like that." He chuckled good-naturedly.
She looked at his face and smiled. Then, she saw his lips curl another slight smile. "I love you..."
His smile disappeared instantly from his face. He did not utter a word.
"I love you," she repeated.
"E-Ella..." He looked confused and surprised at the same time.
Her hand went up behind his head and her lips reached for his. She nibbled his lips softly. She can feel how tensed Chun was. He did not even move a bit. She decided to continue kissing him. At least, she can let him feel how much she loves him through her kisses. When she felt his lips move to deepen their kiss, it was her turn to be surprised. The feeling of his lips in hers is driving her sanity away. Chun is kissing her not just passionately, but also possessively. It was the kind of kiss they shared when he unconsciously kissed her then. Deep and fiery, as most people describe it. She returned the intensity of his kissed by wrapping her hands around his neck. He continued savoring her mouth and she did not dare stop herself from kissing him back.
In spite of her drunkenness, she managed to wish for time to freeze and never let that wonderful moment with Chun end.

Chapter 24
Love Puzzles
--Calvin’s House--
“So, how does it feel?” Chun heard Calvin asked all of a sudden.
“What?”
“How does it feel?” Calvin asked again.
“I feel like a complete jerk, Cal.”
Calvin smiled at his reply. “I guess you’re right. But that’s not the answer I wanted to hear from you. Let me rephrase a more precise question. Did you like the kiss?”
“What kind of question is that?” He heaved out a deep sigh. He does feel like a complete jerk. What he did to Ella last night was really out of the line. How can he take advantage of her when he knew she was drunk? He kissed her crazily in his car last night. d**n him but he liked her lips so much, had she not slept in the middle of the kiss, he wouldn’t have stopped kissing her. What kind of friend is he?
Friend?
When he felt her body close to his and tasted her sweet lips, he didn’t even remember that word. He’s not drunk and he knew that Ella was. He can still remember how passionate and fiery they kissed, he barely slept thinking about it.
“Then that goes without saying, I think.”
“d**n! I shouldn’t have done that to Ella!” He blurted out.
Calvin looked at him and narrowed his eyes. “Why not? You enjoyed it, didn’t you?”
“You don’t understand, Cal. Ella is my best friend. You don’t have any girl buds so you wouldn’t know what I’m feeling right now.”
“Wrong.” Calvin replied.
“What do you mean?”
“I do understand, Chun.” Calvin looked at him intently. “You like Ella. You have always liked her but you haven’t realized yet because you always make yourself think she is your best friend and that makes her off limits. You always think like that by default so you wouldn’t get to notice you have other feelings for her. Now, you have come to the point where your actions have betrayed your thoughts, or shall I say, your true feelings.
“What the hell are you talking about?”
“Chun, dude, sometimes, it takes a kiss to make us realize how much we love a person.”
That made him silent. Is Calvin right? Did he really love Ella more than just a friend?
“Try to recollect, Chun. It might help you out in solving your love puzzle.”
He did just what Calvin said. He remembered that day when Ella told him that she has a crush on Danson Tang. He had that extreme anger rise up in a remote part of his heart. Maybe it’s because Danson was his enemy. But NO. It’s not just because of that. He could not accept the fact that Ella liked some other guy besides him.
He remembered that time when he saw Ella’s new look. He admitted to himself she was pretty, really pretty. Maybe it was no big issue. Almost everyone made a fuss over her that time. But NO. He remembered himself following her like a stalker that day until she entered Arkistrani’s headquarters. When he learned the truth that she was Ella, all those admirations he had for her disappeared in a snap. She was his friend and he should not be attracted to her. Calvin had a point there.
He was hurt when Ella denied him in front of Danson, especially when she asked him to pretend not to know her in school. Every friend would naturally feel that way. But NO. That hurt was different. Maybe it was not just a pain from her denial, maybe that feeling was JEALOUSY.
He was jealous. When he saw them together after riding the Ferris Wheel. That time, during their excursion, everytime Ella would smile at Danson or let him hold her hand, he would feel the urge to wring the latter’s neck or beat the hell out of him. He must be jealous of Danson everytime they were together.
That night when Danson asked Ella out for a date, he felt murderous. To calm himself down, he drank to his heart’s content. He was extremely jealous. He wanted to get Danson away from her because he was afraid Ella might get hurt.
He was hurt, worried, and jealous as a man and not just a friend. It took one special kiss and a few words from Calvin to make him realize what he had been failing to see all these time.
He love Ella more than a friend. He is deeply, crazily and madly in love with her.
“What now? Finally smelled the hormones, huh?” Calvin asked again, interrupting his thoughts.
“You are right. But I guess it’s too late. She’s already with Danson.” He told Calvin, his shoulders dropped.
Calvin shook his head and chucked. “How can you say that? Who cares about that Danson? There’s always a fair chance in love. What do we know, things might work for the two of you.”
“I’m not trying to sound pessimistic here, but even if I tell Ella my feelings, there’s no guarantee she will accept me.”
“Tell you honestly, Chun. I think she’s also in love with you. Actually, she’s loved you for a long time now. You just don’t seem to realize it. I do wonder how naïve you can get at times, really.”
“What?!” He asked in disbelief. “How can you tell that so easily?”
“I have my sources, Chun.” Calvin chuckled. “Do you think my girlfriend, Selina Ren, cousin of your love, Ella Chen, would lie to me about such a thing?”
“Selina told you? Wow, that girl has a big mouth.”
“Hey! Watch the words, pal! Well, we promised not to keep secrets from each other. In a relationship, honesty should always be practiced.”
“The point is, what should I do to finally win Ella’s heart, Calvin?”
“That’s not a problem. I know someone who might just help. He had just solved his own love puzzle days ago. I’m sure he can help us solve yours, Chun.”
Will Chun succeed in solving his love puzzle?
=====================================================
Ella was surprised to see who the person waiting for her in their garden was. The great Angela Zhang.
Did she come here to confront her about Danson? Or is it about Chun now?
She remembered how mad the swank was last night when Chun told her he wanted to send her home himself. Angela walked out because of her.
“Why did you steal Danson away from me?” Angela asked her angrily. “How dare you?”
“I didn’t steal him away from you,” she lied.
“Is that so? I don’t see it that way. I followed you and Chun last night and saw you guys kissing inside his car. You’re a pregnant dog, Ella Chen. What did you tell Danson to make him leave me?”
“Nothing. It so happened that maybe you’re not lovable enough so he left you. I think he only stayed with you out of pity.”
“I don’t see it that way, you dirty pregnant dog!”
Ella scoffed. “Really? Look at yourself! I guess we’re having a misconception here. I’m not the ‘dirty pregnant dog’. You ARE. Serves you right to end up this way, Angela. I feel sorry for those people who share the same name as you, you obviously don’t deserve it.”
“Ella Chen! You—”
“What? Am I not right? It was you who ruined Hebe’s relationship with Jiro. You are conniving, foul-smelling, insolent, and despicable. Now, you are targeting Chun this time, huh?”
“It’s none of your business. But yeah, you’re right. Why do you care?”
“You’re just using Chun as a substitute. He’s not a toy, Angela. You should be ashamed of yourself.”
“I can see that he likes me! And I’m going to use him to get even! I swear, I’ll make him fall in love with me and I’ll ruin your friendship. Just wait and see, Ella Chen!” Angela threatened her and walked away.

Chapter 25 Plans and Conversations
-- Hebe’s room--
“What’s this?” Ella asked Hebe after receiving a green envelope from her.
“That’s Jiro’s birthday bash invitation card. You know, he’ll be having his 22nd birthday this 26th of July.” Hebe replied calmly.
“Ohhh… Wow, so calm. Maybe I should really get use to this. Now that you guys had finally mended that relationship of yours, I’m pretty sure the old, temperamental and hardheaded Hebe will be gone. Yeah!” Selina cheered.
Ella and Hebe just laughed at her remark.
“But isn’t it strange? Chun and Calvin got theirs too. I don’t even remember those three hanging out or something.” Hebe wondered.
“Actually, Cal and Jiro had been good friends since childhood. I just didn’t tell you because I was scared you’ll assault, get mad, or even kill me for not telling you. You have no idea how stressful that was.” Selina told her.
“Ha-ha. By the way cousins, there are no dress codes. Dress whatever you like. But pleeease, Selina, lose those extra bright-colored tops of yours. They wouldn’t look good on you in the dark.” Hebe taunted her and smiled mischievously.
“Ella, will you please stop this rascal from ruining my day again? How reticent of hers right? The old and moody Hebe is gone but the new mischievous Hebe isn’t any better.” Selina complained and pouted her lips.
Ella chuckled and smiled lopsidedly. “Hey, you guys. I know this might sound strange coming from me… but instead of popping your tops arguing and teasing around, why don’t we go shopping?”
“ELLA IS THE BEST COUSIN EVER!” The other two shouted as they all shared a big hug.
======================================================
-- Jiro’s House --
“So, is everything settled out for the event, Jiro?” Calvin asked.
“Yeah, no need to worry about that. What we need to worry about is our plan. Chun, what do you think?”
Chun thought for a while and then answered. “I think we need to revise our strategy.”
Jiro raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?”
“Yes, Chun, what do you mean?” It was Calvin’s turn to ask. “I think our plan is okay.”
Chun nodded in approval. “Yes, it is. I think so too. But I think we need some certain people’s help to make sure this event will be successful.”
“Some people? Who?” Calvin asked.
“Chun, what? Don’t tell me you need C.I.A. agents to go undercover and help us out? That will be fatal!” Jiro laughed.
“No need, Jiro. That’s not what I mean. I thought about it last night and realized we need a great help from your girlfriends.”
“You mean my Selina?” Calvin divulged.
“And my Hebe?” Jiro blurted out.
“Yes, no one else right? We need their help.”
“But, dude, Chun. Wouldn’t it be risky? I mean, they’re Ella’s cousins. If the plan leaks out and your Ella learns about this, we’re bombed out. You know that, don’t you?” Calvin commented.
“Of course. That’s why I spent another sleepless night and thought about it carefully. If we tell them about the plan, I’m pretty confident they will not tell Ella about it. They love their cousin too much. I know they’ll do anything to make her happy.” Chun said matter-of-factly.
“So we’re going to tell them about it? When?” It was Calvin again.
“The sooner the better. The event will be two weeks from now. We need their help badly.” Chun responded decisively.
“That won’t be a problem. I’ll explain the whole thing to Hebe tonight.”
“Yeah, I’ll do the same to Selina. I’m sure she’ll be free tonight.”
“Then it’s settled. Oh, by the way…”
“What?” Jiro and Calvin both asked.
“Wish me luck.”
=====================================================
-- Shopping Mall --
The three girls were chatting happily while having their snack.
“Wow, Selina… you bought a LOT. Thank goodness they’re not so bright-colored.” Hebe teased.
“Oh come on, Hebe! Don’t start. Did you buy something for Jiro?” Selina asked.
Hebe’s cheeks turned crimson as she nodded in approval.
“Whoa! Hebe Tian is blushing! Look!” Ella pointed at Hebe.
“Love is an extremely powerful thing. It can really—” Selina was interrupted when her cell phone rang. She picked it up and answered the call. “Oh, hey, Calvin, honey. Of course, I’ll be free tonight. At seven? No problem. I love you, too. Bye.” She finished the conversation and hang up.
Selina and Hebe sighed deeply.
Ella smiled and looked at her cousins. “Looking at you two, I can see how powerful love really is.”
“Maybe you should tell Chun about your feelings for him already.” Hebe countered.
“Selina Ren seconds the motion.”
It was her turn to sigh. “You guys know I can’t do that.”
“Why?” Selina and Hebe both asked, their eyebrows raised.
“He likes Angela,” she answered laconically.
“So? That Angela looks like a stick. She’s nothing compared to you,” Hebe replied.
“Ella, fight for your love before it’s too late,” Selina encouraged her.
“Hey! Isn’t that line familiar? Hmmm… That’s it. Calvin also told me that! Do couples have to share the same lines too?” Ella asked, trying to change the subject.
“You’re too obvious. Trying to change the subject huh?” Selina rolled her eyes.
“Yeah. That won’t work on us. We know you too well, Ella.” Hebe smiled. “I advise you to take the initiative, just like what I did. You will never solve a relationship if you guys won’t communicate. Learn from my mistakes, Ella.”
“But we’re not in a relationship. The point is, we’re just friends.” Ella retorted.
“Don’t you want to get promoted from being the “girl bud” to being the “girlfriend”? You have to tell him, Ella. You will never know the result unless you try.” Hebe glanced at her wrist watch. “It’s past six already. I have to go and see Jiro.”
“I have to go see Calvin too.” Selina told her. “Hebe’s right. Do what your heart tells you.”
Ella heaved out a sigh as she watched the retreating figures of her cousins.
Should she tell Chun about her true feelings for him?
======================================================
Later that night…
Ella was surprised when she saw Chun waiting for her in their garden. She sat beside him in a swing chair.
“How are you Chun?” She smiled lopsidedly as she asked him.
“I’m fine. How about you, Ella? ”
“I’m just great,” she answered. Truth was, now that he is sitting beside her, she can feel her heart palpitating and her pulse racing as she speaks.
“I’m sorry about—”
“It’s okay,” she interrupted him. She didn’t want to hear him say sorry about kissing her. She already knew he was sorry about it. It will hurt her more to hear it personally from him. “I’m the one who’s supposed to saying sorry.”
Silence.
“The truth was, Ella, I—”
“I know you were also drunk. The issue is cleared. It doesn’t matter anymore.” Ella interrupted him again.
Chun grunted inside his mind. ‘Ella, I was about to tell you that I love you!’
He was puzzled when Ella held close to him all of a sudden. “Ella?” He was confused, but he did what his heart opted to do, he hugged her back.
‘It’s now or never. Ella Chen, good luck!’ Ella shouted in her head. “I love you…”
Chun’s eyes widened in shock.
“…my best friend.”
His ray of hope disappeared and it popped like a bubble.
‘Ella Chen, you chicken!’ Ella hollered inside her head. She felt her eyes watering because of self-humiliation. Why can’t she tell him her true feelings?
Chun felt disappointment rushed through him. ‘Maybe she’s just not ready to tell me yet.’ He comforted himself. “I love you too, Ella…” Those words that left his mouth came from the very depths of his heart. If only he still has the strength to tell her as man.

Chapter 26 What it Means to Love
“So to say, you want Selina and me to help you guys with something?” Hebe asked Calvin and Jiro when they arrived in the Wang’s mansion. “Yeah. This is so weird. I thought you just wanted to take me somewhere romantic for a date, Calvin. Why did you bring me here?” Selina pouted.
Calvin nudged Jiro’s arm for a response, but the latter did not say something. ‘Uh-oh. What am I going to do? I’m not as confident as Chun to tell them about the plan. Why is he not here yet?!’ He nudged Jiro again and gave him a meaningful look. “Do something!” he whispered, enough for Jiro to hear.
“What should I do?”
“I don’t know, maybe something to drive their attention while Chun’s not here yet. Hurry, Jiro!”
“How?”
“Oh com’on! This is your house! You should know what to do! Order the maids for a drink or something. If you’re not satisfied, you can even tell them to bring your precious baby photo album here. Just do something quickly!”
Jiro nodded in approval. “Ohhh. Okay!” He glanced at the girls and saw them chatting. “Do you girls want something to drink?”
“Good idea. I’m thirsty. I guess I’ll just have Earl Grey.” Hebe responded. “How about you, Sel?”
“Jasmine tea is the best for me, Jiro.”
Jiro ordered the teas and the girls drank them, but suddenly, Hebe rose to her feet. “Jiro, what are you and Calvin suppose to tell us? I’m getting impatient here. Besides, I still have to get a good sleep for our play tomorrow.” She heaved out a deep sigh and stared at him, waiting for a response. “Fine. Let’s go now, Selina.”
The two girls started to head to the door but the guys stopped them.
“Uhhh… Hebe, I do need your help.” Jiro muttered. “Maids! Bring over my baby photo album!”
Calvin looked at Jiro with wide eyes. ‘I can’t believe he’s really going to show them his baby photo album. What a dumbhead!’ The maids handed Jiro his baby photo album. “Ummm… Hebe, you see, I need to choose some cute pictures to let people see at my birthday, but I kinda don’t know which of these baby pictures of mine look best. Well, since they’re all the best.” He added the last line with a grin.
Hebe went over to Jiro and pinched his cheeks. “Don’t be so full of it!” She laughed. “Don’t worry about it. I and Sel are ready to help. You should have just said so earlier, you know? This is no biggie.”
The four sat comfortably in the couch as they opened Jiro’s baby photo album. “Hey, don’t you look too adorable in this one, Jiro?” Selina pointed on one of Jiro’s baby pictures. He was a toddler holding a ukulele. “Awww… you’re born to be a musician, huh?”
“Yep, my favorite uncle said so too. That ukulele is from him. When he went to Hawaii, he bought that to give to me as a souvenir. Isn’t it something? I learned to play that when I turned 7. When I got bigger, he bought me a guitar and taught me how to play. He’s the nicest guy I ever met.”
“Jiro, is Uncle Wang going to be there on your birthday?” Calvin asked him.
“I dunno. Probably, I think. He’s always trav--” He was interrupted when the two girls burst into laughter. “What’s the matter?”
“The two of you look super cute in this one! Hahaha!” Hebe pointed at another picture. It was a picture of him and Calvin with mud and chicken feathers covering their entire body. Calvin looked mad in the picture.
“WHAT THE? JIRO, DIDN’T I TELL YOU TO PUT THAT AWAY AND BURN IT?” Calvin hollered. “This is so embarrassing! Selina, don’t look please!”
“I’m sorry, Calvin. I guess I forgot.” Jiro responded.
“Why should you put it away? It’s a nice picture. Right, cousin?” Hebe glanced at Selina.
Selina nodded approvingly. “Calvin, you really look adorable in this picture. Well, the fact that you are dirty, it’s pretty cute too.”
“Well, that picture was taken when we were about to enter the 1st grade. We had a mud fight with my elder brother Juno. We lost against him and then since he’s older than me, he ordered the maids for a sack of chicken feathers and you know what happened next.”
“But why was Calvin mad?” It was Hebe.
“Because this picture was taken as a keepsake. Hahaha! He hates it when he looks dirty, especially when he REALLY is dirty. Besides, Calvin is my brother’s worst enemy.” “Hey, Jiro. Aren’t you enjoying yourself too much?” Calvin snickered at him. “Stop talking about that pathetic brother of yours now.”
“Fine! Fine! Fine!”
*Ding Dong*
‘Good heavens! Chun’s FINALLY here!’ Calvin exclaimed in his mind.
“Are you guys expecting some--” Hebe asked.
“Hey troops!” Chun greeted them.
“CHUN?!?”
“What are you doing here?” Selina mocked.
“Aren’t you supposed to be with that sweet girlfriend of yours? It’s a good thing you didn’t bring her here,” Hebe said in a sarcastic tone.
“It’s a misunderstanding. Angela isn’t my girlfriend.”
“Oh really? How can that be? What do you think we are? Fools?” Hebe taunted.
“Listen to me. She just thought we were on. Believe me, we were never a couple. Yes, I admit I used to like her then, but that was before I realize how important a certain someone is to me,” Chun explained.
“Certain someone?” Hebe and Selina chorused.
“Oh c’mon, Chun! Just tell them already!” Jiro and Calvin explained.
“Your cousin, I, uh… I’m… I’m in love with Ella.” Chun mumbled shyly.
“WHAT?”
“It’s true. I’m in love with Ella Chen.”
“OMG! That’s so awesome! Chun Wu, for the first time in your life you did something great!” Hebe exclaimed.
“I’ll take that as a compliment,” Chun said, chuckling. “So, you’ll do us a favor?”
“Is this the “help” you were talking about? You could have told us sooner. Anyways, we’re in!” Selina said excitedly. “Great! So here’s the plan…”
=====================================================
Ella is seated in a bench in the soccer field. She had just finished her practice with the team. ‘Why didn’t Hebe show up today? Where could she be?’
She sighed heavily as she looked up and stared at the blue sky. ‘I miss Chun. No doubt about it. I wanna see him…’
“Hey, Ella.”
She turned her head quickly to see the person who had just greeted her. But her bubble burst when she recognized Danson. “Oh. Hey there, Danson.”
He sidled and sat beside her. “Disappointed to see me?” Danson asked smiling.
“Huh?” She mouthed dumbly.
“You were obviously expecting someone else, Ella.”
“Really? How can you tell?”
“It’s more of a feeling actually. Sort of… a hunch, intuition or whatever. It’s just that, I can feel the pain when I know the girl I love is thinking about some other guys.” Danson said sadly.
“Danson, I—”
“It’s alright. Chun Wu, right?”
Silence.
Danson beamed her a melancholic smile. “I guess I’ve been fooling myself all this time. I’m always denying the fact that you’re in love with him. I kept telling myself that you might learn to love me too… if not now, then maybe in the future.”
“Danson, I’m sorry. I really am.”
“Ella, you don’t have to be. I should be the one apologizing. I’m a hindrance to your relationship. Because of me, you can’t tell Chun how you feel about him. I feel so stupid.”
“Danson…”
“Come to think of it, when I learned that you were his friend, I got jealous, and hated him more. Then, I learned the truth from someone about what really happened two years ago. I guess I had been so wrong to Chun all along. I acted like an insensitive spoiled brat. To him and especially to you…”
“Danson… it’s not your fault. Everyone had his own share of shortcomings. You don’t have to blame yourself. Besides, it’s all in the past now.”
“You’re too kind, Ella. I guess someone like me really don’t deserve you at all.”
“Danson… stop it. I might learn to love you. Maybe not now, but as you said, in the future. I promise I’ll try my best. It’s too late for me and Chun now.”
“I don’t want you to love me out of pity, Ella. Seeing you happy makes me happy too, in some way. For you and Chun, it’s not too late yet. There’s always a chance for everyone. Yours will come too. Don’t promise to love me. It will make me hurt more… because I’ve always known that promises are made to be broken.” Danson muttered with a sigh.
“But what about you?”
“Me? You don’t have to worry about me… I’m leaving for France soon.”
“France? Why? How “soon” is this “soon” you were talking about, Danson?”
“This evening. The reason? My dad wants me to study there,” Danson said, looking at her intently.
“What are you staring at?”
“Nothing. I just wanna memorize that cute face of yours before I go away. You know, I really love you… but I have to give you up for the sake of your happiness, that is, in Chun’s arms. This is what my love for you means. So, you have to be sure that you’ll show that guy what it means for you to love. Is that a deal, Ella Chen?”
“Ok. It’s a deal,” Ella said smilingly.
“Uhh… Ella?”
“Hmmm..?”
“Last request, please.”
She nodded. “What is it?”
“Can I hug you, just for about half a minute? You know, just a friendly hug.” Danson muttered, his face turning crimson. Ella looked at him and laughed at his reaction. “Okay. Here goes.” She scooted herself closer and gave Danson a friendly hug.
“If ever that Chun makes you cry, just call me and I’ll fly back and beat him up.” Danson said jokingly.
“You don’t have to. I have my cousin Hebe here with me,” Ella said chuckling. “I’ll surely miss you, Danson.”
“Me, too, Ella.”
==================================================
--Wang Mansion--
“Are you okay with the plan, girls?” Chun asked Hebe and Selina.
“You’ve gotta be kidding me! It’s absolutely perfect!” Selina said, obviously excited.
“We just have to wait for tomorrow’s play to end and start the plan, okay?”
“No problem!” The others exclaimed.
“Remember, Hebe and Selina, you cannot tell Ella a soul about the plan, okay?”
“We know, we know.”
“Well then, good luck to all of us! Tomorrow must be a success! No matter what happens!” Chun exclaimed and raised his fist in the air

Chapter 27
Suspicious Black Out
Ella sat patiently in the Tians’ living room, waiting for Hebe to come down. Today is the showing of their school play. ‘Why does she have to make me dress this nice?’ Ella wondered as she stared at her light blue flow dress. She sighed as she took a glance at the stairs.
“Gee, Ella. I’m sorry for making you wait. Wow, nice dress! Is that the one Sel designed for you?” Hebe asked her, running down the stairs.
“Yes, but why do I have to wear this now? I mean, what’s the trance?”
“Cousin, today’s gonna be a special day.” Hebe told her.
“How come? Besides, this day seems pretty normal to me. Now that Danson’s gone, I’ve got nobody to accompany me watch your play. I’m pretty pathetic, I guess,” Ella sighed as she mumbled the last line.
“Well, who knows? Something good might happen today, just keep your eyes open and smell the hormones. Let’s go to the university now! Shakespeare, here I go!”
The two girls were laughing as they leave the house and headed to the university.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--Backstage—
“Chun, are you alright?” Calvin and Selina asked him.
“I, uh, I think… I, um… I’m okay.” Chun stuttered.
“Goodness, Chun! You can’t stutter horribly like that in front of Ella! You’ll be an embarrassment to the male population,” Calvin reminded.
“I’m sorry, I think I’m just a little nervous.”
“Yeah. You look a little nervous to me. I’m sure if Ella’s in front of you now, you might have fainted in front of her. Chun, just relax. Chill out, big guy,” Selina assured him smiling.
“That might happen.” Chun chuckled. “Hey, Jiro!”
“Hey, everybody!” Jiro greeted as he approached them. “What’s shaking?”
“Nothing, we’re just giving Chun some pointers about what he should do and should not do in front of Ella or anywhere near Ella. I never imagined a heartthrob like him to know so little about such stuff. I find it really hard to believe,” Calvin laughed.
“Me neither. Hey look isn’t that Hebe with Ella?” Jiro asked as he pointed at the girls’ direction. Hebe waved at him and he waved back. “Hey, my wife!”
“Who are you calling “wife”?” Hebe asked, an eyebrow raised.
“Of course it’s you! I can’t address Ella as “my wife”. Unless, I want to end my life in a quick and painful way.” He said and stole a look at Chun. “Ready for the play, Hebe? We’ll be starting in less than an hour.”
“Sure, “my husband”! No offense, but I think I prefer nicknames like “honey”, “sweetie” or “cupcake”. You know, those names? Selina and Calvin call each other “sweetie”. I find them a little less embarrassing.”
“We’ll be married in the future anyway. It should be good if we practice calling ourselves that way.” Jiro reasoned out.
“Yeah right, Jiro. Do you want me to call you Grandpa Jiro since you’ll also be a grandpa in the future? That’s kinda lame, I guess. Nevermind, I like calling you by your first name anyways, so we’ve got no more problems. By the way, Chun, can you accompany Ella watch the play? Calvin and Selina are going to help us backstage so they won’t be able to watch with you guys.” Hebe told them. “Is that okay with you, Ella?”
“Yes, fine with me. I’m sure I’ll have a nice time with Chun.” Ella replied. ‘I hope.’
“Then, we’ll be going now. See you guys after the play. Hope you enjoy EVERY minute of it.” Hebe winked at them as the two couples walked away.
=====================================================
“Wanna grab something to eat, Ella?” Chun asked her as they sat down on the seats in the 5th row from the stage.
“No thanks. I’m okay. But on second thought, I guess I’ll have Coke.” Ella said and beamed Chun a warm smile.
‘She’s so beautiful. My heart is beating really fast now. I have to tell her how I feel no matter what happens.’ He thought as he left to buy Ella’s Coke.
======================================================
Ella is enjoying the play. She doesn’t want to sound biased but she really love how Jiro and Hebe deliver their lines. ‘It’s as if they’re really arguing and loving each other at the same time. Totally awesome. Hmm… I wonder if Chun is enjoying himself too…’ She took a side-glance at Chun and saw him staring at her. ‘Is he staring at me? Or the girl next to me? Gotta find out who.’
“Chun, what are you staring at?” she whispered.
“Nothing, really. I just realized you’re wearing light make-up. Courtesy of Hebe, right? You know, I think you look pretty even without make-up.”
Ella felt her face burned and turned red. She is certainly blushing. However, since the theater is dark, she knew Chun wouldn’t notice. ‘Is Chun complimenting me?’
“Uh… Ella?”
“Yes?”
“Jiro said he wants us to go to his house later after this play. Are you free tonight? I mean, we’ll love to have you company,” Chun whispered.
‘Gee… what are these people up to now? If I’ll go with Chun, I’m sure Selina and Hebe will do something strange to make me confess about my true feelings for Chun. I’m too embarrassed to tell him the truth why I dated Danson yet. Ella Chen, you must refuse!’ Ella shouted in her mind. “What are we suppose to do at Jiro’s?”
‘Oh no, when she starts asking about “what’s”, it means she’ll be refusing. No way, Ella Chen!’ Chun told her inside his head. “Hmm…. Just a little celebration for the success of this play, also, a pre-celebration for Jiro’s birthday next week. You know, Hebe told me she’d REALLY REALLY appreciate it if you would come. So? ”
‘Argghh… I don’t care, Hebe, but I do know you’re up to something!’ Ella beamed Chun another smile before she continued, “I guess I’m--“
“Coming?” Chun asked excitedly.
“—NOT coming.”
Chun’s perfect jaw dropped as he squinted his eyes. “Why?”
“Because I still have a lot of things to do. I haven’t finished my newest plate project yet.” Ella responded matter-of-factly.
“Ella, you’re going to miss this special event just because of that?”
“YES, why?”
“But you can always do that plate whenever you’re free. With your ability, I doubt you won’t finish that plate sooner. Besides, I’ll help you if you want.” Chun offered. ‘Ella, just say yes already!’
“I’m sorry. Have you forgotten that one of my mottos in life is “there’s always a time for everything”? This case is no different. I need my time for my education now, so friends can wait,” Ella finished her sentence with a warm smile and decided to watch the play again. “No more discussions. The case is closed, Chun Wu.”
Chun sighed heavily as he leaned his back and dropped his shoulders. ‘I can’t believe how good she is. If she wasn’t an aspiring architect, she’ll also do well as a lawyer. I lost. The plan failed. How can I tell her what I really feel about her now? d**n, I really need help from the others.’
=========================================================
“WE WILL BE HAVING A 10-MINUTE BREAK BEFORE WE WITNESS THE LAST ACT.”
‘Great! Now’s my chance to call for help!’ Chun told himself happily. “Ella, I have to go to the men’s room.”
“Okay.” Ella answered him with a smile as he nodded and walked away.
“Why do I smile a lot whenever Chun talks to me? Gee. Am I too obvious?” Ella asked herself, but she did not know the answer.
==========================================================
--Backstage—
“Jiro!”
Jiro and Hebe watched as Chun rushed in and stopped in front of them. “What’s the matter?”
“El… Ella refused to come.”
“WHAT?”
They turned their heads and saw Selina raising her eyebrow. “She refused? But why?”
“She told me she has to do her project. I can’t believe her!” Chun said exasperatedly.
“Is that so?” Jiro asked. “Hmmm… I knew something like this might happen. So Calvin and I prepared another plan. Calvin, you know what to do.”
Calvin nodded silently, a playful smile curling in his lips. “No problem.” He took out his cell phone and dialed. “Hello, this is Calvin Chen…”
=============================================================
“Kiss me, my beautiful lady.” Pete, told his ex-shrew future wife, Kate. Jiro took Hebe’s hand in his and stared at her lovingly.
“Gladly, my master,” Hebe smiled sweetly as she leaned over to give Jiro a kiss on the lips.
“Awww….” The audience dreamily looked at them kissing.
*Power shut off—BLACK OUT*
Hebe broke off the kiss as she heard screams from the crowd. “What’s happening? Jiro!”
She felt a hand grab her. Soon enough, she was already in the arms of that person.
“Who am I?” the voice asked her.
“Oh c’mon, Jiro! Stop fooling around, okay? What happened? Why was the power shut off?” She asked him.
“It’s alright, Heb. You worry too much. This scheme is just a part of the plan ok? Besides, since the light is off already, let’s forget about anything else and just continue the kiss.” Without waiting a reply from her, Jiro swiftly leaned over and claimed her lips for a passionate kiss.
=======================================================
Meanwhile in CE’s side…
“Chun! What’s happening! It’s so dark!” Ella asked Chun in the darkness.
“I don’t know. Maybe there’s a problem with the wirings or maybe a short circuit occurred. Let’s just stay here and wait what’ll happen next,” Chun replied. ‘Is this part of Jiro’s plan? What the hell…’
Suddenly, out of nowhere, a pair of hands grabbed Ella away. “Chun! Wait, let go off me, whoever you are! Chun! Help!” She tried to break free, but when she fought back, she felt her head hit against something hard and lost consciousness.
“Ella! Where are you?” Chun hollered.
He felt a hand tapped his shoulder and the man whispered to him, “Master Wu, I am one of the men sent here by Master Wang. Don’t worry, come with us. This is just a part of his plan.”
“What about Ella?”
“She’s alright. That girl is really a strong woman, she tried to break free and hit her head on the wall. Thus, right now, she is unconscious.” The man explained.
They started walking to the university parking area. When they reach an expensive black car, Chun saw the unconscious Ella lying inside. ‘Poor Ella…’ Chun sighed heavily.
“Chun!”
He looked behind him and saw Calvin and Selina waving at him. He hurriedly approached them. “Hey, guys, that was one hell of a scene you made. Calvin, you and Jiro, I think, just ruined the entire play.”
“Don’t be silly! Jiro himself suggested that one. The audience saw the two of them, Jiro and Hebe, kissed already, so I don’t think it was such a big deal. Besides, knowing Jiro, I think he’s planning something special for him and Hebe too,” Calvin informed him.
“Well, that’s what I was thinking too. That sneaky Jiro… he might be a dumbhead at times but he really knows how to set things things up.” Chun said, shaking his head, but somehow ended up laughing. The couple joined in too.
“Oh, Chun, I suggest you go inside the car now. You know, I think it’s better for you to get to your destination before Ella wakes up.” Selina interrupted, smiling.
“Yeah, that’s right. Thanks, Selina. Thanks to you too, Cal. Don’t forget to say my thanks to Jiro and Hebe too, especially that Jiro.”
“No problem, Chun. Good luck!” Calvin said and bid him goodbye.
As Chun entered the car, he glanced at the sleeping Ella again. He sat on the cushioned seat and rested Ella’s head in his lap. “Excuse me, but where are you taking us?” he asked the chauffer.
“Just wait and see, Master Wu.”

Chapter 28
The Last Kis
===========================================================
Chun smiled as he watch the sleeping Ella on his lap. If only he had realized his feelings for her sooner, it might have been easier for him to tell her how much he loves her. ‘There’s no use crying over spilled milk. All I have to do is grab this opportunity and finally make things right.’
He looked outside the window and realized the familiar route they were taking. ‘Hey… Wait a second, isn’t this the road to…? That Jiro… how did he know about our daycare center?’
Chun was right. About 10 minutes later, they arrived at the front gate of the daycare center. Since it’s already 5:30 in the afternoon, the kids have gone home already and probably, the teacher is the only one inside right now.
“Thank you so much for driving us here.” He thanked the chauffer as he carried the sleeping Ella, bridal style.
“No problem, Master Wu. I will be fetching you again, just give me a call. Good luck.” The chauffer winked as he told him.
“Okay. Thanks again. I guess we’ll see you later then.” Chun waved at him as he drove off.
As Chun, still carrying Ella, walked to the corridor to their former room, he spotted the teacher and greeted him. “Hello, sir.”
“Oh. Hello. It’s been a while, Chun. I see you’ve grown taller and more mature. I know what you‘re here for. It’s better to let Ella inside before she wakes up. Anyways, good luck.” The teacher smiled.
He nodded apprehensively at his teacher. “Thank you, sir. I’m also hoping everything will run smoothly.”
When they entered the door, Chun was surprised to see the candlelight dinner prepared elegantly in a table in front of them. ‘This is what I call ‘wow’. That Jiro surely knows how to surprise people.’ He thought as he helped the still asleep Ella to a chair. ‘Everything is set up properly. The only problem is that Ella is still asleep. Well, it’s better to let her sleep like this, I’ll have more time to build my courage and tell her what I feel about her when she wakes up.’
=====================================================
After the play, the two other couples still decided to hang out at Jiro’s to celebrate their success.
“Whoa… Jiro, you really planned a candlelight dinner for Chun and Ella? That’s so terrific! Where do you get all these ideas from?” Hebe asked Jiro in amazement.
“I don’t know too. I guess I just know how Chun feels. The feeling that you love someone wholeheartedly but you’re afraid to tell her under difficult circumstances, or because you’re afraid of rejection.” Jiro replied.
“That’s right. You probably felt empathetic because of your experience with Hebe,” Selina countered.
Hebe frowned at Selina’s remark. “Hey, I know I was wrong, okay? Besides, it’s not entirely my fault. Jiro has his own share of faults too. But goodness! Why are we talking about this stuff? The important thing is, Jiro and I are back in each other’s arms again.” After saying that, Hebe quickly leaned over and gave Jiro a small peck on the cheek.
“Yeah. That’s right, and I’m absolutely enjoying every minute of it,” Jiro answered back, evidently delighted. His side-comment made the others laugh boisterously.
As their laughter died down, Selina suddenly remembered something. “Wait, you guys. We still have one teeny little problem.”
“What?”
“It’s not actually a ‘what’, more like a ‘who’…” she said, looking awkwardly at the others.
Hebe heaved out a deep sigh as she blurted out, “We still have Angela Zhang.”
==========================================================
“Hmmm…” Ella stretched her arms and looked at her surroundings. Realizing, she was no longer in the school theater, she gasped at the extravagant candlelight dinner in front of her face. ‘What the heck is this?!’
“I see that you’re finally awake, Ms. Sleepyhead.”
She jerked her head to see where the voice came from and saw Chun smiling at her. “What you doing here? No, wait. What am I doing here? Wrong question again. What are WE doing here?!”
Chun laughed at her panicked tone. “That’s a simple question, Ella. Well then, let me answer you. We’re here…” He pointed at her, then to himself. “…to have dinner.” He finally said, gesturing at the extravagant dinner in front of her.
“This is so weird. Awhile ago, I remember myself fighting with some strange guys who were kidnapping me, next, I felt my head bumped against something as hard as concrete. Now, before I knew it, I was sitting in front of my best friend and staring at this spendthrift dinner in front of me. Has my perception of exaggeration changed a bit?” Ella uttered.
Chun looked at her amusingly. ‘She gets too overreacting sometimes. But hell, everyone does, especially in a situation like this.’ He cleared his throat and advanced to sit in the chair in front of Ella. “Let’s not talk about this anymore. How about we eat dinner already? I’m starving,” he told Ella pouting.
It was Ella’s turn to laugh. “Okay. Fine then, Chun. You talked me to it. Then let’s eat happily, shall we?”
Chun nodded smiling.
As the two were eating the specially prepared dinner, they can’t help but praise the scrumptious meal they are enjoying.
“I have never eaten such delectable spare ribs!” Chun exclaimed.
“You’re right, Chun. I totally agree. This one is by far the best for me.”
“Mind you, I’ve eaten a great deal of spare ribs from different hotels and restaurants here in Taiwan, but this is no doubt the best spare ribs I ever had.” Chun commented.
‘Different hotels and restaurants? I see. That’s because you’ve dated a lot of girls before…in different hotels and restaurants. Maybe I should ask about him how he and Angela are doing now.’ She thought miserably. “By the way, Chun?”
“Yes, Ella?”
“I was just wondering… how’s your relationship with Angela? Is everything alright?”
Chun’s hand froze in the air with that question. ‘It’s time. I have to tell her everything now.’ He set his knife and fork in his plate and looked at her intently.
‘Why are you looking at me like that?! Hey, don’t tell me you guys are no longer together? Congrats, Chun!’ She thought in her head. “Did you guys break up or something?” she asked, a hint of excitement in her voice.
“No. It’s not that.”
“Huh?” Ella mouthed dumbly. She felt something sharp cut through her heart. ‘How can I ever think of something so stupid? Of course he wouldn’t break up with Angela just like that. He waited too long to have her as his girlfriend so there’s no way he’ll let her go. Silly, stupid, pathetic me.’
“Ella!”
“What?”
“You’re crying…”
“Huh?” She touched her face, he was right. She IS crying. Maybe she just can’t take it anymore. Years of unrequited love, overpowering frustration and bitterness accumulating everywhere inside her. She wanted to disappear and take away all those sullen emotions she had been taming in her heart throughout the years. She was getting tired of holding back… and she knows it. Yet, she had been doing her best to deny those unwanted feelings, but now, it’s apparent that she can’t anymore.
“Ella! Why are you crying? Did I say something bad? Oh please. Stop crying. I don’t want to see you shedding tears in front of me.” Chun rushed over and brushed her tears with his handkerchief. “Ella…”
She looked at him, trying her best not to cry anymore. If he really loves Angela, then maybe it’s best to forget. After all, she promised to give up her happiness for him to have his. “Chun, do you love Angela?” She asked him, staring down and avoiding his gaze.
“Ella… Why are you asking that? Is it because you saw us together in the org chairman’s birthday party? It was just a misunderstanding.” Chun’s fingers touched her chin, turning her face to look at him. “I just let her come along because she insisted to. Believe me, we were never a couple, perhaps she just thought we were on.”
Ella shook her head and continued, “That’s not the answer I wanted to hear from you… I wanted to hear if—”
“If I’m in love Angela?” Chun laughed discerningly, his laughter so beautiful it rang as music to Ella’s ears.
“What’s so funny?!”
“Ella…”
The way Chun pronounced her two-syllable name made her heart leap. ‘He keeps on procrastinating. He didn’t even answer my question.’ She heaved out a sigh. “What now?”
“Do you want to go ride a Ferris Wheel?” Chun asked the question out of nowhere.
‘Ferris Wheel…?’ Ella glanced at her wrist watch. 6:15pm. They still have more than an hour before the amusement park closes. ‘What exactly is this guy up to? Hmmm… maybe if we get to ride the Ferris Wheel, I can finally hear his answer.’
“Silence means ‘yes’.” Chun smiled as he grabbed her hand and pulled her up. He towed her as they headed their way outside the daycare center.
“Hey! Chun Wu! Stop dragging me. Why are you in such a hurry?”
The only response he gave her is a smile.
====================================================
“Are you sure this is Angela’s favorite bar?” Hebe asked Jiro as they stood at the threshold of the said bar.
“Right, Jiro. How can you be so sure?” Selina asked him too.
“Juno told me she and her friends like hanging out here.” Jiro said matter-of-factly.
Calvin nodded in approval. “I agree with Jiro. She was also here when a buddy of mine invited me and Chun out for a drink. So I think she’ll be here tonight too.”
The four decided to enter the bar. As they walked inside, they spotted Angela talking with some guy. Scratch that. More like flirting with a guy. Her other friends are doing the same with the some other guys too.
“Let’s eavesdrop a little.” Selina and Hebe told Calvin and Jiro.
The two guys looked dumbly at each other and then turned their heads back to their girlfriends. “No thanks.”
“Fine.” Selina and Hebe chorused. The girls sidled carefully and tried to overhear what Angela was saying.
“How about buying me a drink then?” Angela flirted. “Maybe I’ll go out on a date with you.”
“Whatta pure-blood pregnant dog.” Hebe hissed disgustedly as she rolled her eyes. Selina just smiled at her cousin’s reaction.
The guy shook his head amused and just drank his beer. “Thanks, but no thanks, Angela. Sure, I can buy you a drink, but I’m not asking you out for a date or anything in return. I’m sure my girlfriend is going to kill me if I go out with you,” he chuckled.
“What? You’re scared of her? You can always find someone better than her if you want to. Someone like me.” Angela smiled seductively.
“Ewww…” It was Selina’s turn to be disgusted.
“Whoa, Angela. Calm yourself. I’m sorry, but I really love my girl. Sure, you’re really gorgeous, but I’m sorry, I’m not in the mood for a fling.” The guy told Angela.
That made Angela mad, but instead of blowing her top off, she hooked her hands around the guys neck and kissed his cheek tauntingly. “Oh c’mon. You know you want me.”
Hebe and Selina couldn’t help it anymore. They quickly walked up to her and pulled her away from the poor guy.
“You know what, Angela? I’ve always known you’re a pregnant dog. But I’ve never expected for you to be this… LOW.” Hebe told her.
“What are you doing here? And why do you care anyways?” Angela spat at them.
“We don’t really care about you. But we care about those relationships you keep on ruining. If I were you, I would stop acting like such a lowlife and start changing for the better.” Selina said.
“I’ve tried to change! But your cousin took the guy I love away from me! She took Danson away from me…” Angela sobbed.
“You… you really loved Danson?” Hebe asked her, obviously surprised.
“Yes. I love Danson so much.”
“Then you should go chase him. Go to France.” Selina told Angela.
“….”
“Are you going to just sit here and just let some French mademoiselle steal him away from you?" Hebe posed and raised Angela an eyebrow.
“Of course not!” Angela quickly took her cell phone and dialed it. “Mr. Chan, prepare my passport and ticket to France.”
Hebe and Selina just smiled at each other. Unknown to them, their boyfriends were watching them from afar.
Jiro beamed a huge smile at their direction. “Calvin, don’t you think we’re more than lucky to have such wonderful girlfriends?”
==================================================
-Amusement Park-
“You haven’t answered my question yet…” Ella muttered as she and Chun boarded the Ferris Wheel.
“Do I really have to?” Chun asked amusingly as he reached out and held her hands.
Ella was taken aback, but she let him do so. “To be fair, I think.”
“If I tell you I’m in love right now, are you going to believe?”
“Pretty much, yes. You do look in love,” Ella said as she smiled warmly.
“I really AM in love. But not with Angela.”
“What?”
“I’ve just answered that silly question of yours. I’m not in love with Angela. Yes, I admit I used to like her then, but now, I can’t say the same.” Chun said seriously.
“Huh?” Ella looked at him dumbly.
Chun chuckled at her reaction. “How can I be in love with her if I’m in love with someone else?”
“Then who…?”
Chun pouted his lips playfully and rubbed his chin, “Well, there’s this girl. She’s very interesting and smart, too smart, I think, that she does things that REALLY surprises the hell out of me. She transformed herself for some guy to like her, and she doesn’t really fancy listening to me. It gives me a headache every time she misunderstands things I say, and makes me worry about her a lot.”
“She made my childhood happy and worth remembering. She’s always been there to make me laugh, to comfort me every time I feel sad. She helps me do my projects and she’s really good. Every time her warm smile reaches my eyes, I don’t know why, but my heart races uncontrollably fast. Her laughter is so beautiful it rings as music to my ears. I hate seeing her sad, but I always make her sad, and I hated myself for that. Since we have been together forever, at first, I was so afraid to admit my feelings for her… I was scared that things will be different between us. I was scared to admit the fact that I’m deeply in love with her. Nobody in this world understands me better than she does… after all, she’s my best friend…” Chun’s fingers touched her chin and he stared directly to her eyes.
At that moment, everything became clear for Ella.
“I am romantically deeply in love with you, my best friend. I love you so much, Ella Chen Jia Hua.”
“Chun Wu… why didn’t you just say so earlier! I can’t believe how you like procrastinating so much.” She actually didn’t know what exactly to say for she was embarrassed. Tears welling in her eyes again, she reached forward and held close to Chun. He just chuckled at her pettiness. “Chun, I love you too…”
“As a best friend?!?” Chun raised his eyebrow playfully.
It was her turn to laugh. “I love you more than just a best friend. I love you, Chun Wu.”
“Let’s share one last kiss, Ella.”
“For what?”
“As best friends,” Chun smiled as he bent down and claimed her lips.
As soon as they broke apart, Chun quickly held her hand and squeezed it. “Now, where do you want to go for our first date?”
Ella smiled devilishly and pouted her lips before saying, “Buy me a hundred red roses first.”

Chapter 29
EPILOGUE: The Lovers' Night Over a week later… “Ella, Selina! Hurry up! We’re going to be late for Jiro’s birthday!” Hebe hollered impatiently as she waited for her cousins downstairs. Tonight will be the celebration for Jiro’s 22nd birthday. Well, being his girlfriend, it will be really embarrassing for her if she shows up late.
“Coming!” the two girls shouted back.
“Arghh!!! Of all the times, my dear cousins, why do you have to dress so slowly today?!” Hebe complained. She looked outside the window and calmed herself a little.
“We’re ready, Hebe!”
“What took you so—” She did a double take when she saw Ella’s elegant crimson figure-hugging dress. “…wow.” Hebe’s jaw dropped open. “Selina! Good job!” She exclaimed as she gave Selina a thumb’s up sign.
Ella looked dumbly at Hebe and Selina and shook her head in disbelief. “You two really enjoy seeing me miserable. I am sooo FORTUNATE to have cousins like you.” She added sarcastically and passed them a cold glare.
“What? You look gorgeous!” Selina commented with giggles. “Besides, it’s not so bad to show that luscious and spicy body of yours once in a while.”
“Yeah, Ella, Selina’s right. Hmmm… I wonder what Chun will say…” Hebe said devilishly. “I’m sure he’ll be overjoyed to see you in that dress.”
“Ha!” Ella let out a loud gasp and pouted her lips childishly. “Stop it! I don’t think it’s funny, Hebe Tian.”
“Hey, you two! We’re going to be late! I’m sure the chauffer is getting impatient waiting for us.” Selina said, cutting them out.
The three girls finally decided to get in the limousine and headed to the Wang mansion.
=====================================================
--Wang Mansion--
“Hey, Jiro!” Calvin and Chun went up to him and gave him a hug. “Happy birthday, buddy!”
“Thanks, guys.” Jiro tittered nervously and looked around. “Where’s Ella, Selina… and my Hebe?”
“Oh, don’t worry. Selina called me up a few minutes ago. They’ll be here in no time.” Calvin assured him.
“So, are you ready?” Chun asked.
“I’m a bit nervous but hell, I’ve waited long enough for this moment to come.”
“She had met your parents, right? Everything went well?” Calvin asked anxiously.
“Yes, they really liked her a LOT. Especially my mom.” Jiro responded.
“Auntie Wang?! Are you kidding me? Your socialite of a mother liked a simple lady like Hebe? Knowing your mom, I must say that’s kind of… strange,” Calvin said suspiciously.
“Strange it is. You know what? To tell you frankly, I was really worried my mom wouldn’t like her because she’s not from a prestigious family, but a minute after those two met, they were already inseparable. After Hebe went home, mom kept asking me when will I invite her here again, and perhaps, she said, they’d even go shopping together.” Jiro said chuckling.
Chun thought about it for a while and then seriously blurted, “That sounds more than strange to me.”
He sounded too serious the other guys laughed at him.
“What do you know? Looks like you guys are already having fun even without us.”
Chun, Jiro and Calvin turned their heads and saw their beautiful girlfriends smiling widely at them.
Chun did a double take when he realized how nice-looking Ella is. “You look… amazing, Ella.”
The girls marched toward Jiro and kissed his cheek as they chorused, “Happy birthday, Jiro!”
“Thank you, God! Being kissed by three gorgeous girls, this is the best birthday gift ever.” Jiro said dreamily as he wrapped his arm around Hebe’s shoulders.
Chun and Calvin smacked his head identically.
“Even if it’s your birthday, it doesn’t mean you can fool around with our girlfriends,” Calvin muttered as he received Selina in his arms.
“Don’t get so worked up,” Ella said as she embraced Chun and kissed him softly on the lips. “You also look gorgeous tonight, Chun.” She complimented him.
“Well, it’s time to start the party!”
=========================================================
As the three couples went to the dance floor, the song “Greatest Story Ever Told” by Oliver James was played.
“Remember this song?” Chun asked Ella as he wrapped his arms around her waist. He intentionally requested Jiro to play that song once they stepped on the dance floor. He knew that was one of Ella’s very few favorite English songs.
“Of course.” Ella beamed him a sweet smile. “…from that movie “What a Girl Wants”. I used to like that song a lot. Remember when we used to watch that movie whenever we finish doing our projects then. How can I ever forget?”
“Hmmm…”
The intro music subsided and the singer’s voice echoed the hall.
♫ Thank you for this moment…♫
“I gotta say how beautiful you are…” Chun sang the lyrics to Ella’s ears as they slow danced. “…Of all the hopes and dreams I could have prayed for, there you are.”
Ella closed her eyes and held closer to Chun as they dance.
♫ If I could have one dance forever, I would take you by the hand.” ♫
“Tonight it’s you and I together, I’m so glad…” Chun kissed her ear softly, “I’m your man.”
♫ And if I live a thousand years I know, I never could explain, the way I lost my heart to you that day But if destiny decided that I should look the other way Then the world will never know the greatest story ever told… ♫
“And did I tell you that I love you… tonight,” Chun finished as he looked directly to her eyes. “I love you, Ella.”
Ella smiled warmly at him, “I love you too, Chun.”
Chun tilted her chin as he leaned forward and kissed her lips. They shared a passionate kiss, but Chun suddenly pulled away.
“What’s the matter?” Ella asked in surprise. “Wrong place huh? You want some privacy?”
“That’s not it.”
“Then what?” Ella asked again, this time with her eyebrow raised. “Is something eating you?”
Chun chuckled. “It might sound weird hearing this from me, but I was just, you know, uh, wondering…”
Ella grinned, “…wondering about what?”
“Remember that kiss we shared inside my car when you were drunk?”
“Yeah. Actually, that time when I kissed you and said that I’m in love with you, I really meant it then. The spirit of alcohol just gave me enough courage to tell you what I wanted to tell you.” Ella confessed shyly.
“Yes… but…”
“But what?”
Chun wandered his eyes around the dance floor and back to Ella’s face. “Where did you learn to kiss like that?” Chun asked finally, a hint of fretfulness in his voice.
“Pardon?”
“I’m not your first kiss.” Chun muttered unhappily as he looked at Jiro and Hebe dancing. “Jiro was Hebe’s first kiss,” he pouted and crossed his arms.
‘If only this guy knows…’ Ella wanted to laugh at his childishness. “So?”
“Is it Danson, by any unlucky chance?” Chun asked tentatively.
“HUH?! How can you say that? He never even became my boyfriend.”
“Yeah… But you dated him, and rode the Ferris Wheel with him.” Chun countered.
“Hey, are you holding grudges against me?! How do you know I rode the Ferris Wheel with him?” Ella asked incredulously. “Were you stalking me after we unlocked the handcuffs?”
“No! That’s not it. I was only wandering around that time, cursing myself for making you mad and upset. Then by a twist of unluckiness, I saw you guys together. It’s not like I planned to see the two of you together that time,” he told her distastefully.
Ella just smiled at his reaction. “What made you think Danson was my first kiss?” She asked, raising a brow. ‘Is this guy playing games with me? Or he really can’t remember anything?’
“Well, that’s a simple question. You changed yourself for him. I think you even joined Arkistrani just to get closer to that guy,” Chun reasoned out.
‘What?… This big guy is obviously jealous. Well, he does look cute even when he’s jealous.’ Ella thought to herself and shook her head playfully. “I thought you guys had already made up, besides you don’t really know the reason why I wanted to get close to Danson.”
“We did make up, but that doesn’t change the fact that he might be your first kiss. Why did you even bother to like him in the first place?”
“Well, let’s just say, it’s your fault, Chun.”
“My fault? How come?”
“Remember how you used to pester me about who the person I like is?”
“Yeah. I do remember that. What’s the relevance?”
“You still don’t get it, do you?” Ella sighed heavily. “That time, I told you I like Danson, not because I do like him, but only so you will stop pestering me already, and miraculously, after that you never pestered me anymore.”
“WHAT? But you transformed yourself. Isn’t it because you like him so much?” Chun asked confused.
Ella just shook her head. “The truth was, I was only doing Hebe a favor back then. It was her plan to lure Danson away from Angela to teach her a lesson. Selina was with us in the plan too, but then, she met Calvin and you know, things sort of turned out the way they are now.”
“Whoa. So to say, you three girls planned all of that? I can’t believe how scary you three can be when put together.” Chun said, his eyes then furrowing. “But you told me to stay away and pretend not to know you in school, was that a part of your plan too?”
“Oh… that?”
“I’m waiting for an answer.”
Ella cleared her throat nervously. “Actually, I just decided that myself.”
“But why?”
“Because you never even told me I’m beautiful, even when you saw me transformed myself. I was trying to see what your reaction will be, and I was hoping that you will like me too. Instead, YOU made ME feel as if I am ONLY a FRIEND for you. Don’t you think that reality hurts me? I was hopeless, that’s why I tried my best to forget you.”
Chun embraced her and whispered to her ear, “Unfortunately, you will never be able to forget such a wonderful guy like me.”
Ella reached out and pinched his cheeks slightly, “Don’t be so full of yourself.”
“What can I do? It’s the truth. Don’t you agree?” Chun asked trying his best not to laugh.
Ella laughed vigorously at him, and rested her head against his muscular chest. “Okay, okay, I agree. So there…”
“But I’m still feeling bad about not being your first kiss, at least I’ll feel a little less better if I know who it was,” he pouted.
“Fine.”
“Who’s the naughty guy who stole your first kiss away?”
“Hmmm…”
“So, who was it?”
“You.”
“Me?” Chun asked in confusion. But somewhere in his heart, he knew he was feeling very happy. “How could it be me?”
“You seriously don’t remember?”
“Uhh…” He thought about it for a moment and tried to remember even a scrap of memory, but to no avail, he didn’t remember anything. “Sorry, Ella. But NO, I don’t remember.”
Ella sighed and shrugged her shoulders. “That day when you won the Arkistry competition and you invited me and your peers for a drink. That same time when Auntie Wu went to her sister’s and stayed there for the whole night, remember that night?”
“Uhh… not quite clear. Hey, don’t tell me—” Chun’s eyes widened at the thought, a mischievous smile curling his lips.
“Yes. You were drunk and unknowingly, that was also the time you kissed me. In other words, you were the one who taught me how to kiss like that.” Ella said matter-of-factly.
“So, that’s why your kiss tasted deliciously familiar…” Chun muttered, his fingers massaging his chin.
Ella smiled affectionately and pecked him softly on the lips. “Yes. You’re a very good teacher,” she winked at him.
“WHAT?!?!”
Chun and Ella automatically turned their heads to see where the voice came from and saw Hebe. Jiro is kneeling in front of her, holding a ring box.
Jiro looked nervously at the people who started crowding around them and met Chun’s eyes. Chun smiled encouragingly at him and gave him a thumb’s up sign. “I… I will ask you again, Hebe. W-will you marry me?”
“…”
“Is that a ‘no’?” Jiro asked, a hint of gloom in his voice.
“Why is it so sudden?”
“It’s not really so sudden. We’ll get married after your graduation.”
“Hmmm… give me some time to think about it.”
“Okay.” Jiro nodded.
“…I accept,” Hebe muttered almost inaudibly.
“Huh?” Jiro’s eyes furrowed. “Sorry, I didn’t catch that one. What did you just said?”
Hebe smiled and pinched his nose slightly, “I accept. I’ll marry you, Jiro Wang.”
“Yes!” Jiro quickly got on his feet and slipped the ring in her finger. He leaned forward and kissed her gently on the cheek. The crowd around them applauded.
Hebe glanced at the ring in her finger and mouthed, “…wow.” Then she violently turned her head to Jiro as they walked out of the dance floor.
“What’s the problem?” He asked in confusion.
“Why do you have to buy me an eternity ring? I’m sure this thing costs a fortune. You could’ve just got me something simpler and perhaps, cheaper. I think this one is kind of too… luxurious. ”
Jiro laughed good-naturedly at her reaction. “For me, a ring’s true value isn’t about how expensive it is. I think it’s about a guy’s sentiment when he bought the ring. What he was thinking about and perhaps the reason why he bought her girl that ring.”
“Meaning?” Hebe asked an eyebrow raised.
“That time when I was finding the right ring for you, I tried to reminisce everything we’ve been through before we reconciled. Do you remember that time in the dressing room?”
“Yes. That time when you kissed me and you told me you never really stopped loving me,” Hebe said smiling. “You were so sincere back then I thought I was only hearing things.”
“Yup. I said I’m willing to wait until you open your heart for me again… even if it takes forever. Eternity means no end, right? It’s everlasting… forever. Just like my love for you. I love you so much, Hebe.” He leaned forward and claimed her lips for a passionate kiss.
========================================================
“I feel so great things turned out this way.” Chun muttered as he led Ella to the Wangs’ garden.
“Yeah. Me, too.”
“I can’t believe how big fools we we’re back then. Me, not realizing my feelings for you. You, luring Danson away from Angela and pretending to like him so I’ll get jealous.”
“Well, whose fault is it in the first place?” Ella mocked Chun, smirking.
“I’m already guilty, okay?” Chun managed to say as he wrapped his hands around Ella’s waist. “Besides, everybody can be so dumb when it comes to love.”
“I think so too. After all, there is no logic in love. Falling in love is an irrational thing. Even just by falling in love with someone, you'll hurt people, and you'll get hurt yourself. To be truly in love with someone, you have to be ready to put your heart at risk and do silly things.”
Chun chuckled and kissed her hair softly. “You’re saying that because you did do silly things for me.”
Ella beamed him a sweet smile. She swiftly turned around and put her hands around Chun’s neck, “That’s right. I did everything for you… everything for love.”
So they shared a heart-stopping kiss in the middle of the garden, the moon and stars staring at them as witnesses, the cool night breeze soothing their skin, the warmth of each other registering throughout their own.
