Jerry Yan Cheng Xu's Talent Fees Has Increased 60 Times, Wednesday June 11, 2008 Taiwan China Times June 11, 2008
Translated by kkla@nbbbs.com
Yan cheng Xu's talent fee has improved 60 times
Since MG1, every time he filmed a drama, his talent fee has also improved. In 8 years, his talent fee has improved 60 times
Stardust, played by Yan Cheng Xu, etc.., had a press con in Shanghai the day before. Although the filming has not finished, because of Yan's high popularity overseas, the copyright sales amount has been over NT60 millions. In which, the copyright sold in Japan is even as high as NT$900,000 per episode. He is really the No. 1 idol drama actor. Even the producer, Mr. Liu Chong Dao, indicates, "Stardust's copyright sales have been over the investment amount."
Health shows red light
Yan Cheng Xu is really good in making money. Because of the filming of Hot Shot and Stardust in the first half of this year, he has attracted more than 100 millions of investment money, but at the same time, may be because of being too tired, his health shows the red light. He has very strong personality that he doesn't mind all the hardships. When filming Hot Shot, he had big and small injuries here and there. When filming Stardust, his diet has been very light due to toothache. He has lost over 3kg in one month. At the filming site, he said, "Years ago, I was very muscular. Now my waist is smaller than 30 inches." In order to manage his cellutilis, he needs to spend almost an hour for oral care each day now. In order to make sure that his face won't get swollen, he also needs to take pain relievers/antibotics continuously.

Totally Focuses on October's Concerts in Japan Jerry Denied Requesting To Decrease Xiao Zhong's Parts in Skipbeat
After working with new agency, JVR, Yan Cheng Xu (Jerry) now totally focuses on October's concerts in Japan and the preparation of his upcoming solo album. Besides, a lot of idol dramas eagerly invite him to be part of the cast. Days ago, he finished filming a new MP3 commercial with Gui Lun Mei. He also sang the commercial song, Really Love You. This is his newest song since the last F4 album released last year, and this song has become the talking point of fans' discussion.
Shortly before, it was rumored that GTV's idol drama, Skipbeat, has arranged Yan Cheng Xu, Ariel Lin, and Joe Zheng to be the cast, and Yan Cheng Xu requested to decrease Xiao Zhong's parts, so Xiao Zhong quitted Skipbeat. JVR denied this rumor, and indicates that invitation of this drama was received but until now it has not confirmed to accept the role or not. JVR further emphasized that Yan Cheng Xu has never requested to decrease anyone's parts in a drama.
Although there were rumors, Yan Cheng Xu's mood was not affected. Recently, for the upcoming F4 concerts in Japan, he practises dancing and playing piano continuously, and hopes that in the concerts he can perform somethings different from the past.
Besides, the new commercial song, Really Love You, is just a warm-up of Yan Cheng Xu's upcoming solo album. This song's rhythm style is the kind that he is good at intrepreting. However, after he received the music and lyrics, he still spent a lot of time practising at home before going in the recording studio. That's why he completed the recording in the studio without much hassle.

Jerry ended up going to the police station in Japan.. Aug 29,2008 by Lian He Bao Summary: It was reported when Jerry studied in Japan last year, he rode a bike in the street at night, and he ended up going to the police station. Why? As he didn't know that a headlight is required by law when riding a bike at night in Japan. Of course, he was released without problem as he's a foreigner who didnn't know the local laws. After filming Hot Shot, Jerry is getting ready for the upcoming concerts. For the audiences in TW who can't attend his concerts in Japan, they can view his dancing on tv by watching the next episode of Hot Shot, as he will perform the Victory Dance with his teammates. The choreographer of this Victory Dance is Vanness' Japanese dancing teacher. credits to kkla@nbbbs udn.com/NEWS/ENTERTAINMENT/ENT2/4494641.shtml F4 holds press conference in Japan; reveals details about their concertssource: UDN translated by: x-WISHFULthinking@asianfanatics.net F4’s upcoming concert tours in Japan are taking place soon. Yesterday the 4 took some time out to hold a press conference in Tokyo. They announced that they will add 2 extra shows on Oct 3 and Oct 19, totalling 7 concerts, with over 80,000 fans attending. Yesterday, during the press conference, in front of over 100 reporters, besides announcing the good news of 2 added shows, F4 also revealed details about each of their own solo performances. ZaiZai (Vic Zhou) said that to be different from their 2006 Hong Kong concert, this time he will use 3D images in his performance. Ken Zhu shyly said that he had taken up ZaiZai’s suggestion and will challenge tap-dancing. He said, “I am not good at dancing, so I am very nervous, but I will try hard to perform to the best of my ability.” Talented Vanness Wu says that this time, besides planning even more outrageous dancing, he will also bring on an exclusive orchestra to accompany his performance. As for Jerry Yan, he says that this time, he does not plan to sing and dance at the same time, but rather he will focus on the music and feelings to touch the fans. From the 3rd of October, F4 will hold 3 concerts at the Hokohama Arena, Tokyo Budokan Hall and Osaka Hall. The 4 will also live in Tokyo for some time, and when asked about what they want to do while they are there, Jerry praised Japan’s fruit. He said, “If I get the chance, I want to eat as many speciality fruit as possible.” ZaiZai smiled and said, “Because I don’t like leaving the house, now, whenever I leave the country, I like examining menus in different hotels, and then recommend to others, maybe I can release a book in the future.” Ken said, “If I have some spare time from work, I will want to go to restaurant to eat, visit some bookstores and also go to a spa.” Vanness however, is the opposite and he says, “To maintain a good figure, if I have time, I will exercise. Lately, everyday in the morning, I will go to restaurant and eat 10 boiled eggs.”

Jerry's Interview- About the Concert, Jerry vs F4, Jerry vs Jerry, About the Fans, Friday October 25, 2008 Japan
Jerry words on the insert of the Japanese Concert Programme
To all the fans, Thanks so very much to every one of you who have stayed by F4 and been grown with us. We are like old schoolmates who are here today to reminisce all about F4 from the beginning till now. All are part of our growth as F4, though there maybe laughter and tears at times. I will have more confidence to walk on from here on with all of you always by my side. Thank you very much.
ABOUT THE CONCERT
~ How did you feel when you initially knew about F4 having a concert in Japan?
When I heard for it the first time, ‘What! Japan?’ popped into my mind. But my Japanese isn’t very good, so would that be a problem? Would I be able to perform to my best? I was considering all these. Furthermore besides my inner uncertainties, I was worried if I could actually do it. With continuous rehearsals and as the concert date drew nearer, my uncertainties and worries dissipated. On the contrary, I was looking forward to the concert. The night before the performance, just thinking of seeing everyone, I got so excited that I couldn’t sleep. (laugh)
~ What does this concert mean to me?
Such a large scale concert, it will forever be an opportunity for me to grow. Besides the inevitable pressure, it has become to me a motivating force. With the F4 concerts these past 2 years, being together with my mates, we truly understand each other and it can be a different stimulus.
~ What do you hope the fans can feel when watching F4’s performance?
I hope that everyone would be able to see our own growth and to give everyone a brand-new feeling. My mates also feel the same way. But the matter about growth, it is not up to one to define. I hope that the fans can feel that we are ‘still growing’.
~ What about your personal performance?
Everyone has a different liking to visuals. As for my personal performance, I don’t think that a 120% performance might be visible. But I hope that everyone can feel something new. Though it’s only me but I hope that everyone can feel that ‘he’s different from before’ or ‘Jerry is really growing’, responses like these really makes me very happy. The details of the concert . . . . . . That is a secret so please look forward to the concert.
JERRY VS F4
~ The most memorable thing together with F4?
There are many actually but the most memorable would be the Hong Kong Coliseum concert 2 years ago. I know that it is under renovations now but I remember how it was 2 years ago. What made me work even harder was that I wanted to give everyone the best performance. We worked so hard and it was all was not in vain. I feel so blessed and that was very memorable and I was very touched.
What does it mean to be together with your mates?
It was many years ago that we had met for the first time. I’ve had different experiences and growth. But when we met at first, we were all new. So we have a special relationship. We are all busy with our own things and basically we seldom contact one another. So once a while when we do meet up, it is like being together with schoolmates, we naturally play and chat with one another. So the atmosphere immediately reverted back to how it was before, our relationship has not changed at all.
My feelings about my other mates.
I look forward to my future and I have my dreams as well. Though the 4 of us seldom have a chance to work together but I will always wish the very best for them. We encourage each other and it will always be this way. Ken and I are Capricorns. I’m more of a kid and Ken is like a big brother. He is always the one who worries for us. Ken is very particular about his matters. Vic has changed and grown the most. I am so happy that I want to work harder along my own path too. Vanness is always like the Sun, always making everyone so happy. The show will be wonderful and I’m looking forward to this performance.
JERRY VS JERRY
~ What is the greatest obstacle (or distress) that you have face thus far?
To be frank, I have never imagined that this TV serial could have so popular. And also how it had received such overwhelming responses. I have been very careful every step of the way from ‘Meteor Garden’ till now. As I need to shoulder the fans’ expectations so I do not wish to fail. My self-imposed pressure is my greatest distress. Everyone’s expectations and my own demands on myself have become pressures. Conversely, isn’t a risky opportunity an opportunity in itself? Most of the pressures have become a motivational force for my growth. And it is such a formidable force
~ If you met yourself when you first started out, what would you say to yourself?
My character is too forthright and so it’s better not to be in the Entertainment Circle. But if I weren’t in the Entertainment Circle, I won’t be here. Everyone won’t be supporting me and all these touching moments would be no more too. So I will believe in myself, be undaunted in my beliefs and keep working harder. The Sun always shines on you. The most important is to walk on with an innocent and righteous heart.
~ What about your plans from now on?
All the other mates have their own different plans for the future. As for myself, I hope to have challenges on different job aspects! As an actor, my job scope is more or less definite in terms of acting skills and what needs to be done. But I hope to do things that I haven’t done before. To be able to see myself doing very well in something new! Personally, I will prepare well for my job! (laugh)
About the Fans
~ What are the fans’ existence to you?
Since I’ve been this business, all of you have given so much support and so much strength. I will always be extremely grateful. Fans to me are like the relationship between the Sun and Man. Without the light from the Sun, there would neither be any energy nor strength. Though the Sun may only exist in a certain corner at a time, but without it everything would be enveloped in darkness. Fans to me are like the light from the Sun, they are essential to existence.
~ Relationship with Fans
To tell the truth, please don’t be so ‘reckless’, alright! If only everyone can be like the sunshine, giving me light and warmth that would be my greatest support and encouragement. (laugh)
~ THE END ~

“I am not F4, Zhou Yumin – Idol with Big Transformation” Special TV report on Wan Quen Yu Le Entertainment Show “Taiwan’s Special Local product Idol Drama, create Big Stars” Translated by sytwo @ Asianfanatics.net DL: rm www.mediafire.com/?gyg3le1ummicredit:chufang and zhenusa@vicchou.baby.topzj.com credit thanx to mukie@pantip.com for posting it. * NOTE from sytwo : Please let me know if the translation needs correction. 0:00 – 0:29 min – Meteor Garden Title of program : “Taiwan’s Special Local product Idol Drama, create Big Stars” “I am not F4, Zhou Yumin – Idol with Big Transformation” VO : Few years ago, ZZ Zhou Yumin followed a friend for audition and was recruited instead to play Hua Ze Lei of F4 in Meteor Garden. Due to his close resemblance to the manga character, he became famous overnight. At that time, as ZZ did not have any acting experience, his performance was very raw/ not good (sytwo : not sure of this) plus his mandarin pronunciation was not clear. Therefore his acting talent receive a lot of attention (sytwo : Or negative attention? Or was criticized – not very sure of this part). But this unique attraction made him even more popular. 0:30- 1:48 min – Poor Prince Taro In 2001, he acted in Poor Prince Taro. Showing a portrayal that differs from HZL. The character of Tai Lang acted by ZZ is a young man with ambitions and goals for the future and works hard to find money and earn a living. He is always rushing for time every day and was mistaken as a rich boy by the girls in school, and caused Ah Ya’s character to chase after him due to her dream to marry a rich man. This created many jokes and humor. But the normally gentle ZZ, does he have any potential to play a funny character? Ah Ya : Actually both of them are very good at joking/ being funny. Especially ZZ. He is the type who jokes in a laid back manner. For example, in one scene he has to shout out “She is my girl, hands off!”. But you know, ZZ’s voice is very soft and so he can’t really shout out. I asked “ZZ, can you really shout?” So he ran over and said “Ke-or-eh-oh ah-ei oh, hah hah hah hah hah!”. And I stood there stunned, thinking “What is he doing?” (ZZ was laughing beside her) His voice can’t come out and pronunciation is not clear, and then he even laughed out loud at himself. ZZ : The character is very different from HZL, very, very different. HZL is the type who is introverted and keep his feelings inside, whereas this role in Poor Prince Taro is very outward in expression (fang de kai). Frequently shout out loud, and very sensitive to money, plus likes to act “ke-ai”/ adorable…..things like that. 1:49 – 2:23 min – MG 2 VO : In 2001, MG2 started filming. ZZ’s acting compared to MG1 has become more matured, and can be seen to have improved a lot. [Shows excerpt of ZZ in MG2] VO : Although the reception towards MG2 was not very good, but it did not affect ZZ’s popularity and acceptance (by fans). 2:24 – 2:43 min – Love Storm VO : In 2003, he acted in Love Storm opposite Vivian Hsu. A change from HZL’s melancholic image, he portrayed the manager of a TV direct sales company. ZZ put in extra effort to attend language/ speech class so that audience can see his hardwork. [Shows ZZ in speech class, speaking his dialogue in front of Vivian Hsu and the teacher. ZZ’s pronunciation was still unclear and it was really funny to see the teacher’s serious and frustrated expression, saying “ZZ, you must come and see me everyday.” ] 2:44- 3:38 min - Mars VO : But ZZ’s performance that really caused people to open their eyes (or caused ppl’s eyes to lit up) was in Mars, acting opposite DaS. He acted as two characters, the twin brothers Ling and Sheng who have very different and opposite personalities, which is a great challenge in itself. Plus the fact that Ling is a motorbike expert and was mentally traumatized after seeing his twin brother commit suicide in front of him, making it a role with a very complex background. Even ZZ himself was not confident of portraying the character well. [Shows excerpt of ZZ acting as Ling in Mars] 3:39- 3:56 min - Mars (cont) VO : ZZ did not disappoint everyone and his acting in the drama received high praise from all and shows a performance with much depth. It was expected that he will be nominated for Golden Horse Best Actor award but unfortunately that did not happen. Director Cai even openly declared on behalf of ZZ that anyone can be excluded from Golden Horse (sytwo : not sure of this), but ZZ should be nominated. This proves that ZZ’s acting has shown tremendous improvement/ breakthrough. 4:00 - 5:02 min - Silence VO : Through the different dramas, ZZ honed and polished his acting skills, and transformed from an idol star who only has a handsome appearance to become a serious actor with real strength/ talent. In 2005, he acted in Silence as a cold and uncaring successful business entrepreneur. It was only after he discovered he had liver cancer that he started to change. He developed a love relationship with a mute girl played by Park Eun Hye. [Showed excerpts of ZZ acting in Silence.] 5:03 – 5:36 min - Sweet Relationship VO : Compared to his fellow peers of young actors, ZZ career keeps expanding (sytwo : not sure of this part) and is lucky to have the opportunity to play different type of characters. In 2007, ZZ collaborated with Patty Hou in Sweet Relationship, acting as a highly talented but very strict and cold-face chef. [Show excerpts of ZZ acting in SR] 5:37 – 7:03 min - Wish To See You Again VO : In 2008, ZZ acted in the Taiwan tourism drama, WTSYA. This time he became a weird/ quirky novelist. [Showed excerpts of ZZ acting in WTSYA] 7:04 - 7:52 min - Black & White VO : In 2008, ZZ collaborated for the 3rd time with Director Cai, acting in B&W as a coward and ruffian in outer appearance but internally is actually a righteous cop. This drama cost NTD800,000,000 (800 mil) with a big production and even the press conference was very elaborate. ZZ (during B&W press con) : …..hope that it will be better, so the guys came in a boat and the ladies rode horses. It was not too bad. I see that the horses are very healthy. (all laughed at ZZ’s cold joke) Dir Cai : …..(his acting) exceeded my expectation. To a point that it made everyone laughed at the film set, everyone was bent over and could not move because it was just too funny. He frequently come out with something that is really very funny, and he has totally turnaround (transformed) from his previous image. I believe that when B&W comes out, everyone will see a Zhou Yumin that is totally different. VO : Under the directing and guidance of Golden Horse winner Director Cai, can ZZ full potential be shown and lead to a Golden Horse nomination next year? Everyone is waiting in anticipation. = END =

source: Liberty Times translated by: Sarah @ asianfanatics.netWhen Jerry Yan and Terri Kwan were filming PTS drama ‘Starlit’, there were rumours that the 2 were not on good terms, and it turned into a cold war. However, in private, the 2 would often make fun of each other. When they were hungry, they would fight over instant noodles, and play around with the wigs. Also, one BTS scene made Director Lin become the funniest at looking ugly. Changing from his image of a handsome guy, Jerry becomes funny and plays cool. Last year, ‘Starlit’ filmed in Shanghai for one month and a half, and he and Terri would often add their own bits to the drama, amongst laughter. For example, sometimes, Jerry would suddenly start singing Cantonese songs or he would even pull at his tie and tie it around himself. Jerry said: “I want a new breakthrough, and these reactions are so to portray a different side of me.” Jerry and Terri would treat filming like playing. When they got hungry, they would fight over instant noodles, and each put on wigs and ugly glasses. Jerry would grasp Terri’s collar like carrying a bag, and Terri would use extra force when beating his chest. She said: “Salt (her nickname for Jerry) has never treated me like a girl la, he would show no mercy when beating me!” Jerry said that it’s because the 2 feel comfortable around each other, that’s why they would play like this, otherwise he would be more polite, hence breaking the 2’s negative rumours. Even though her love life is out the window, Terri revealed that there are still many guys chasing after her. But towards their actions, she only feels touched, not heart-jump feeling. Towards her ex-boyfriend Huang Zhi Wei, she says the 2 are still friends but have not been in contact for a long time.

He gives up playboy life Taiwanese star Van Ness Wu finds God and looks to celibacy to start afresh Van Ness Wu showing off the ring named Chastity Belt. The ring is part of his line of jewellery called 3VO7 ONE of the pieces in Taiwanese American singer-actor Van Ness Wu's new jewellery line is called the Chastity Belt. And the 31-year-old Taiwanese singer-actor says the piece - a ring designed to be worn on two fingers - is a current reflection of his life. Van Ness, a Christian, claims he has given up his playboy ways and wants to focus on religion. He told The New Paper: 'One of the things that I felt was keeping me from God was sex. 'So I told myself, let's just stop that right now.' Van Ness was in town yesterday to promote his latest movie Kung Fu Chefs, which co-stars Hong Kong actor Sammo Hung and Japanese actress Kago Ai. In the movie, which opens in cinemas today , he plays Ken, a martial arts foreign exchange student who loves cooking. The actor, best known for being one-fourth of one of Taiwan's hottest boy bands F4 (now known as JVKV), said he has made a decision to remain celibate. He has even changed the spelling of his name - from Vanness to Van Ness - the spelling of the road he was named after in his hometown of Los Angeles. And it's not only his name that has changed. He confessed that at the peak of his career in F4, he had led a life of 'fast cars and one night stands'. Van Ness broke into showbiz in 2001, when he was cast with other F4 members - Jerry Yen, Vic Chou and Ken Chu - in the highly successful 2001 Taiwanese idol drama, Meteor Garden. He said fame and fortune resulted in him losing his sense of self. Van Ness, who has been linked to Taiwanese starlet Vivian Hsu and Japanese singer Aisa Senda, explained: 'There were days when I thought, 'how did I even get here?' 'I was concerned with the millions of dollars needed to buy a big house. I felt insecure and empty.' The actor said he put his fast life behind him at the beginning of last year when he returned to the US. He said spending time with his family and not thinking about work made him 'more grounded'. Van Ness had given up his job as a telemarketer and moved to Taiwan seven years ago to pursue a career in entertainment. His mother, sister and niece still live in the US. But Van Ness said his new perspective on life didn't happen overnight. 'I have been a Christian for the past seven years but have I really lived up to that? 'I asked myself that and the answer was clear. Now I'm a changed man.' Van Ness, attributes his renewed belief in religion as having helped him when he was down. He recalled how he felt lost when he moved to Taiwan as a 24-year-old. He said he was turned down a few times by numerous record labels and had turned to prayer to ask 'for a miracle'. Before he knew it, he was cast in Meteor Garden and became part of one of the hottest boy bands in Asia. F4 went on to release three albums and was the first foreign artiste to hold seven consecutive concerts in Japan, breaking the records of Taiwanese and Hong Kong pop sensations Jay Chou and Faye Wong. Their group albums combined have sold more than eight million copies worldwide. Van Ness, who has three solo albums to his name - his latest offering titled In Between released in July last year - has starred in movies such as Star Runner and Three Kingdoms: Resurrection Of The Dragon and Dragon Squad. A different dream Ironically, Van Ness confessed that he had never wanted to be part of a boy band. His initial goal, when he made the trip to Asia, was to do TV and film. He added that at the height of his career, he felt stifled by his management company, Fu Long, which he said dictated his image and choice of work. Van Ness said: 'I'm not the type of person who likes to be confined. 'I wanted to do the music that I love, not something which the record company thinks will make money.' But don't call him ungrateful. Van Ness said he's happy for the path that being in F4 has paved for him and the 'roller-coaster ride of fame' was something that he had to live through and get out of his system. He has now signed on with a new management agency, BST Corp - which stands for Blood Sweat And Tears - a company which he founded with 'people I trust'. He plans to focus more on movies and TV dramas, but will also release a new solo album later this year. He meets veteran chef, Bing Yi, played by Sammo, who takes him in as an assistant. He also recently launched his jewellery line named 3VO7 (it stands for the word 'love' if the letters areflipped). Having designed all the pieces himself, he says that the collection is an apt representation of where he is in life right now. For example, on a pendant named Heart Trap, which is shaped like a mousetrap, the words 'save me' are inscribed behind - his personal message to God. Van Ness said that he couldn't have done this two years ago because he wouldn't have been in the right frame of mind then. He said: 'I wanted to make a statement with the pieces and I know people will listen. 'I used to be all about the bling. Now I am just about being positive and healing.' Van Ness is also doing the English and Mandarin voiceover of bio-scientist Jack Griswold in new Animax film, LaMB. The film, which debuts on Animax (StarHub Ch 84) on 24 Mar at 8pm, also stars Tanaka Chie and Josie Ho. And probably as testament to the enduring success of his breakout TV series Meteor Garden, a third remake - in Korean - was recently released in January. A Japanese version of the show, which is based on a Japanese manga, was released in 2005. China and the Philippines have also jumped on the bandwagon and announced their own remakes of the series. Van Ness said: 'I'm glad that our series made such a big impact. I do feel honoured.' Electric New Paper
