***made this story a long time ago and posted it on one of my blogs...
He carefully laid the flowers on her tomb. Then, he closed his eyes as he made a silent prayer. How long has she've been gone? Two years? It only seemed that yesterday, she was alive, and they were together... and with a blink of an eye, she was dead. Since then, He swore he will never love again. Angela will always be in his heart, and no one could ever replace her.
Or so he thought.
He gently touched her engraved name on the tomb. He knew Angela would understand if he would move on. Besides, it's been two years since she died, maybe it's time for him to let her go. "I know you want me to do this, Angela..." he said. "I know you will understand... and I know, once I found her, you'll approve of her..." He made a sign of the cross, and then walked away from her tomb. He never thought this day will come... the day where he will ask permission from Angela to love again. It has been two years, and he spent it reliving every memory he had with her. And now, it's time for him to open his heart and love again...
--
She knelt before the altar, and she began to pray silently. "God, give me serenity to accept things that I cannot change, and the courage to change the things I can..." she prayed. She never thought that this day would come, that she will pray so hard for that one thing she have been waiting for all her life. She knows she have no right to ask Him for more, for she have lived a perfect life. She have a perfect career as a CEO of their family business, she had a perfect family, and she had great friends. She was treated like a princess by everyone, but deep inside, she feels empty. Just like a jigsaw puzzle, there's a missing piece.
She had always been a hopeless romantic. She believes in fairy tales, and she believes every girl will have a destined prince charming and a happy ending... but sadly, she hadn't found hers yet. Maybe it was because she was too busy with her studies or with her work. Right after she graduated from college, she began to work at their company. She worked hard to be very successful, and to be the most powerful woman in the business sector. She didn't have suitors because most of the men she met were intimidated with her, after learning who she is. She may look happy outside, but at the end of the day, she longs for someone who could make her whole. Someone who could fill the emptiness in her heart. Someone who would protect her, hug her tight when she's scared and tell her everything's going to be all right. She longs for someone she could love, and could love her in return. She just wants to feel what it's like to love...
"God... I lay my fate in your hands. I know I have no right to ask you for more, but I just want to be happy... please God, just make me meet someone whom I could love, and who could love me for who I am..." she prayed. "He doesn't have to be the perfect man... I just want someone who I could be with forever. Just give me a sign if I would find love, and if ever that sign does not come my way, then I would accept and understand your purpose for me..."
--
He walked inside the cathedral, and took a seat from the back. He just came from the cemetery to visit his girlfriend's tomb, and he decided to stop by to ask for guidance. "Lord, I don't know why You took Angela away from me... but I know You have your own reasons. I pray that you will give me the courage to love again..." He prayed. He looked up at the altar, and then knelt down. "It took me a while to finally accept everything, and I'm now ready to move on... I'm not asking for someone who's exactly like Angela... I want someone who could make me feel loved..."
Then, his eyes gazed at the girl at the front of the row. He stared at her a long time, wondering what she's praying for. Then she stood up, and walked towards the cathedral's exit. He looked at her face, and in an instant, he was mesmerized by her. He felt like his heart started to beat again. He just watched her as she passed by, then he noticed her hankerchief dropped on the floor. He stood up from his seat, and took the hankerchief. He followed her until they both reached the cathedral's door.
--
"Miss..." she heard someone calling her. She turned around, and she saw a man standing behind him. She didn't know why, but she felt her heart began to beat faster the moment she saw him. "You dropped this..." the man said, as he hand her her hankerchief. She smiled at him, and took her hankerchief. "Thanks..." she said in a low voice.
Then, their eyes met. They were both speechless as they gazed into each other's eyes. Silently, he thanked God for giving him the opportunity to talk to this girl. He knew that the moment he saw her, he fell in love with her. At that moment, he felt ready to be in love again, and he chose to fall for her. "Is he the one? Did God finally answered my prayers?" she thought. And just like him, she fell in love with him in an instant. Then, he smiled back at her. "Uhmmm.. this is really awkward..." he finally said, breaking their silence. She gave out a nervous laugh. "Yes, you're right..." He extended his hand to her and smiled again. "By the way, I'm Chun... and you're?" She smiled back at him, and took his hand. "I'm Ella..."
That day, a beautiful friendship started, that evolved into love eventually. Who would've thought that God would finally answer their prayer that day?
