Chapter1: The Secret Admirer
The school hall was empty. The students have not yet arrived, which gave her more chance to do what she have to do. She walked towards the familiar locker. Then, she smiled to herself. She took the small, yellow paper from her pocket and slid it inside the locker. Then, she took out the paper crane. She put a string on it, and hung it outside. She stepped back, and looked at it. She prayed, that with this little gift, she would be able to make him smile. She wished that with this gift, she would be able to tell him how she feels.
She began to move. As she walked away from his locker, the school bell rang. The students came out of the classroom, and at one corner, she hid herself. She watched as he walked to his locker, and saw the surprised look on his face upon seeing the paper crane. She saw the smile on his face, which made her contented. She was happy to see him smile today. A smile she have always wanted to look at... that warm and sunshiny smile of his...
--
“Drats... Professor Ren is really something...” Kit said as she approached Calvin by his locker. She closed the book she was holding, and looked at her best friend. He was smiling to himself, as he looked at the paper crane that he was holding. “What's that?” she asked. Calvin looked back at her and smiled. “Oh, it's nothing...” he said. Kit gave him a suspicious look. “Don't tell me it came from one of your secret admirers again?” “Most likely...” “Don't they ever get tired? It's as if you would get to notice them if they do such things!” “But this one's different... look.”
Calvin handed her a yellow paper. Kit took it and read it aloud. “Hard work will definitely be rewarded. The rest is to believe in yourself.” she said. Then, he looked up at Calvin and laughed. “What's funny?” Calvin asked. “Whoever she is, she's so corny. Its that line from Hana Kimi!” Kit said, then she began to laugh. Calvin just shook his head. Kit wold never understand why that note means a lot to him. Today, he would be filing his candidacy for the upcoming student council election. He was hesitating if he should continue or not, but that note gave him the courage to continue.
“Even if it's a line from a drama series, it means a lot to me.” he said to her. Kit just shrugged her shoulder. “OK, OK, I understand.” she said. Calvin closed his locker, then they began to move. “I don't know if this is just a coincident, but it's like this girl knows what I'm feeling... like she knows I'm hesitating to do something so she gave me this note and paper crane to encourage me...” “Calvin Chen, everyone here in St. John's University knew you'll be running as the class representative, so everyone's cheering on you.” “But still, it's like she knew I had this fear...” “Yeah, yeah, and by the way, how did you know this one's a girl? Remember you had a gay admirer before!” Calvin flinched upon remembering that incident. The guy involved is Wu Chun, his classmate in biology. During their school's party, Chun got drunk and confessed his love for Calvin in front of everyone. It was a shock, not only for him, but to their batch because he is also the school's heart throb. “Kit, can you stop reminding me that incident...” he said. Kit saw that he's already blushing. “Ah ha! You're still embarrassed with that incident, huh?” she said, teasing her best friend. “Aiyo, stop teasing me about that incident, Katherine Jin!” he said. Kit paused, and glared at him. “And who gave you the right to call me that name?” she asked an irritated tone. Calvin just smirked at her. “Since you decided to bring up that whole Chun thing, Katherine.” he said. Kit rolled her eyes in irritation, much to his contentment.
Before they knew it, they were already in front of the Student's Affairs office. “OK, Mr. Class Rep Chen. Here's your stop. Do what you have to do, OK?” Kit said. She tapped his shoulder, she was about to make her move, when Calvin stopped her. “Hey, aren't you going to support your best friend?” he asked. He pouted at her like a little kid. “Do you still need it?” she asked. “Some kind of a friend you are!” Kit laughed. “Fine, fine. I'll do my duty as your friend. Good luck. I'll see you at your soccer practice later.” she said. Then, she left as soon as Calvin entered the office.
--
Calvin got out of the Student Affairs office when he bumped into Trixie. “Sorry...” he said. Trixie just smiled at him. “You don't have to say sorry, Callie. It's my pleasure to bump into you.” she said flirtatiously. Calvin just sighed. He just ignored Trixie and went on his way. Trixie followed him, much to his irritation. “Don't you have any classes, Trixie?” he asked. Trixie shook her head. “It's my break now, would you like to go to the cafe with me Callie?” she asked. Calvin paused, then faced her. “I have a lot of things to do, Trixie. And please, don't call me Callie.” he said in an annoyed tone.
He knew that Trixie have a huge crush on him. Trixie is also one of the prettiest girls in school, but even though she is pretty, she's not his type. Trixie have been know for being a snotty and a brat, that's why he never liked her ever since. “Fine. I'll see you later at class.” she said. The she went on her way. Calvin sighed with relief. He thought Trixie would follow her, like what she always do. Calvin continued walking through the hall to get on to his next class, when someone walked past him – it was Joy. He looked back at her again. He smiled to himself as he glanced at her. He watched as she happily chats with her friend as they walk through the lobby. “Is it me, or is Joy getting prettier everyday?” he thought.
The truth is, he liked Joy ever since he first saw her, but he could not bring himself to confess to her because she know that Joy is dating Jiro Wang. And so, he could only watch her, and secretly love her from afar. He continued to watch her, until Jiro showed up. He was greeted by his girlfriend with a kiss. They both smiled art each other, and he could tell that the two are very much in love. He watched as he put his arm around him, and leave. He sighed. Somehow, he felt envious of Jiro. Sometimes, he wished he could be him, so that he could feel what it's like to be loved by her, but it was just another wishful thinking.
--
At one corner, she watched him as Calvin looked at Joy's way. She wished that Calvin could look at her the way that he looks at Joy, but he knows that it's impossible. It's like wishing for pigs to fly. He know Calvin could never notice someone like her, after all, she's just a nobody. But her heart ached when he saw the pain in his eyes the moment he saw Jiro. She wished she could take that pain away, and make him smile... if only she could have the courage to do that...
--
“Go, Calvin!” Kit shouted. She was watching Calvin playing soccer that afternoon. Actually, she was waiting for Calvin so that they could go home together. Calvin kicked the ball towards the goal, and the goalie, Danson, was unable to block it. Calvin's team won by a point, and he and his team mates cheered. “I could never really beat you, Calvin!” Danson said as he walked towards him. Calvin just smiled at him. “Maybe next time...” Danson smiled back, then he looked at the side of the soccer field, where he saw Kit waiting for Calvin. “I think I know why you team always wins. You're number one fan is here...” he said. Calvin gave out a small laugh. He knew that Danson is talking about Kit. “Of course, Kit would always wait for me, remember?” he said. “Can you tell her to cheer for me next time?” Danson asked. “Sure, no problem.”
The two guys went inside the locker room to change. After a while, they got out and saw Kit waiting for them outside. “30 minutes for changing. This is a record!” she said. Calvin wrinkled his eyebrows as he looked at her. “Record for what?” “For a guy to shower and change. Geez, are you a even a guy?” “I am just vain.” “Yeah right.”
Kit rolled her eyes at Calvin. Danson saw this, and just laughed at her. “Hey, no laughing at me!” she told Danson. “I'm sorry if I can't help it, Kit...” he said, smiling at her. “Hey, Danson. Calvin and I are going out for snacks. Would you like to come with us?” she asked. “Well, if Calvin doesn't mind if I tag along...” Calvin smiled at him. “Of course, I wouldn't mind. At least I won't be the only victim of Kit's -” before Calvin could finish his sentence, Kit reached up to him and covered his mouth. “Aiyo! Don't scare your junior, will you?” she said. Danson laughed as he watched the two of them kid around. “Guess we have to go or someone will steal our favorite area at the cafe.” Kit said to the two boys. Both of them nodded their head, then they headed to their favorite cafe.
--
Jiro stopped the engine of his car as soon as they reached Joys house. He looked at his girlfriend, and then he smiled. “I'll pick you up tomorrow, OK?” he said. Joy smiled at him and nodded her head. “Are you sure you don't want to come in?” she asked. Jiro nodded his head. “Maybe some other time....” “OK, I understand. I'll see you tomorrow then...” “Good night...” “Good night.” Joy gave Jiro a kiss on the cheek, then he got out of his car. He watched her as she entered their house. As soon as she is gone, he looked at the shell necklace hanging by the mirror. He took it, and then stared at it for a long time. He smiled to himself as he remembered the girl who gave it to him.
It has been years that this necklace has been with him. It has been years since he last saw the girl who gave it to him. He could never forget her, because it was her who saved him from drowning. Up till now, he still wondered what happened to her, and if he will ever meet her again... but years have already passed. “Maybe she have already forgotten about me...” he thought. He looked back at Joy's house. He love Joy, that's for sure, But the girl who saved him will always remain to be his first love. “Wherever you are, I wish you happiness... because I know I found mine with Joy.” he said, talking to the necklace. He hang it back on the mirror, and started his engine.

Chapter 2: Finding Her
Calvin walked over his locker, and as expected, he found another paper crane on his locker. He looked around, hoping to find the one who's been leaving this to his locker. He smiled to himself. Lately, this paper crane girl have been making him smile. It's like she knows how to make him smile, how to make his day right. He have a lot of worries, but when he reads her words of encouragement, he felt like he's gaining back his confidence. He immediately opened his locker, and as he expected, he saw the yellow note lying on top of his books. He took it, and read it's contents. “Butterflies don't know the color of their wings, but human eyes know how nice they are. Likewise, you don't know how good you are, but the people around you do... I do...” he read silently. He sighed, then his lips curved into another smile. He took his planner from his bag and kept the note in it.
He felt someone tap his shoulder. He turned around, and saw Kit standing beside him. “What's up?” she asked. He just smiled at her, and with that smile, she understood. Calvin got another paper crane from his secret admirer. She looked at his open locker, and saw the paper crane lying on top of his things. She took it, and carefully looked at it. “Wow, your secret admirer is really something...” she said. Then, she looked at him. “This is the 5th paper crane for this week, right?” she asked. Calvin nodded his head. “I really don't mind getting the paper cranes and her notes... but I want to find out who this girl is...” he said. Kit gave him a suspicious look. “Cal, don't tell me you're falling for this paper crane girl, or gay?” she asked. Calvin gave her a bewildered look, and then laughed. “Of course not! I want to see her so that I could thank her... for encouraging me.” he said. Kit just nodded her head. “OK. Don't worry, as your best friend, I'll help you find this girl.” “Are you sure?” “I promise. Cross my heart, hope to die.” Calvin immediately grabbed her and hugged her tight. “Thanks, Kit! You're the best best fried in the whole wide world!” he said. Kit struggled to get free from him. “Aiyo! Stop hugging me, I can't breathe!”
--
Hannah walked through the empty hall. As always, she would stop by at Calvin's locker, and stare at it for a long time. Whenever she pass the hall, she would wish she could have a glimpse of him. She liked Calvin since she met him way back in high school, but she was to shy to approach him. Whenever Calvin pass by her, she felt and looked like a statue that could not move. She felt that whenever she's around him, she becomes clumsy, so she decided to just watch him from a far.
As she was about to make a move, she bumped into someone. She looked up, and saw Calvin and his best friend, Kit. “Sorry...” he said, smiling at him. She was surprised to see him up close. She opened her mouth to speak, but the words seems to get stuck at her throat. “Uh... yeah... it's... it's OK...” she finally stuttered. She decided to move quickly, but then, she bumped into him again, her books fell on the floor. Calvin and Kit helped her pick up her things. “I'm sorry, I'm sorry...” she kept on saying. Kit looked at her, and smiled. “It's OK. It's my friends fault that he bumped into you again.” she said. She and Calvin then handed her her books. “Thank you.” she said in a low voice. She looked up at Calvin and smiled faintly. As she took the book from Calvin, she was able to touch his warm hand. She was surprised at this, so she immediately took her hand away from him. “I'm sorry, thank you for helping me pick up the books...” she said. Then, she walked as fast as she could away from Calvin.
Calvin watched Hannah as she leaves. He was a little confused with her reaction when she held his hand. “She sure is weird...” he said. Kit shook her head. “She's a little shy, that's all.” she said.
--
“So, who do you think this paper crane girl is?” Kit asked in between bites. They were hanging out that afternoon at their favorite cafe. “Honestly, I have no idea....” he said. “Do you think it's Rainie, the cheerleader?” Kit asked again. Calvin shook his head. “All that girl knows is cheering and fashion. I don't think she could write those notes...” he said. Kit took another bite from her sandwich before speaking again. “Maki from that punk band?” she asked again. “She writes great lyrics but I don't think she have a crush on me. Plus, she's too outspoken, she would never do such things...” “Genie?” “Too obvious if it's her.” “Angela?” “She's sweet, but I don't think she could do that.” “Trixie?”
Calvin almost spat out the drink in his mouth upon hearing Trixie's name. “She's too forward, and I don't think she would resort to this kind of gimick...” he said. Kit nodded her head. “I forgot... she already announce in the whole campus that she's determined to make you her boyfriend...” she said. “Yeah, so it can't be possibly her.” he said. Kit leaned back to her seat, and sighed. “This is harder than I thought. Whoever she is, she must be really shy to admit her feelings for you... or she's someone who doesn't want to be found and would rather love you from afar...”
Upon hearing what she heard, Calvin gave her a suspicious look. Kit noticed this. “What?” she asked. “Could it be you?” he asked. She was shocked by his question. “Of course not! Why would I do that. Besides, didn't we promise before that -” “That we will not fall in love with each other because we're like brothers and sisters. Yeah I know that...” “Yeah, you know that but why are you suspecting me?” “I'm just guessing. What if your feelings towards me have already changed. You know I could never accept that. You're like my sister.” “I could never fall for you! I know everything about you. Everything! There are things about you that I hate, and even if you're the last man on earth, I won't ever fall in love you.” “Well, at least it's clear...”
Calvin smirked at her. He just like seeing his best friend flare up every time he tells her that she might have a crush on him. “But how would you know that this girl could be shy and a martyr?” he asked. “Calvin Chen, I've read to much romance novels to know about the whole secret admirer thing....” she said proudly. He just sighed. He decided to leave it to Kit, since it seems that knows more about this thing. After all, she was the hopeless romantic type between the two of them.
Just then, Trixie came inside the cafe, and Kit saw her. She knows that Calvin was avoiding her, as he couldn't put up with her. “Speaking of the devil, Trixie is here.” she said. Calvin looked back, and he saw Trixie looking at her, smiling. “Oh great, what a day...” he said. “And you thought you could get away from her for a day? Think again.” Kit said. Before they knew it, Trixie was already standing by their table. “Hey Calvin! I never thought you would be here...” Trixie said in a flirty tone. Kit just raised an eyebrow at her. “Yeah, right. As if you never knew we'd be here.” she said in low voice, but nevertheless, Calvin and Trixie heard her. Trixie glared at her, while Calvin was trying to suppress his laughter. “What?” she asked Trixie in an irritated tone. “Nothing. Just be thankful you're Calvin's best friend.” she said, as if threatening her. Kit just smirked at her.
Then, Trixie sat beside Calvin. “So Calvin, would you like to go to the movies with me this Saturday?” she asked. Calvin shook his head. “Sorry, I already made plans with Kit. I promised to help her with her report this weekend...” he said. Then, Trixie glared at her. “Don't you have other friends who could help you with that?” she asked in a snotty tone. “Yes, I do, but Calvin volunteered to helped me out. Best friend bonding, haven't you heard that?” she snapped back. Trixie rolled her eyes at her, then she turned to Calvin. “Uh... maybe next time, if I'm free.” he said. She smiled sweetly at him. “I'll take your word for that.” After that, she stood up and left the two. “Cal, don't tell me you're really planning to go out with her?” Kit asked with disbelief. Calvin shook his head. “Of course not! I just told her that so that she would leave us alone.” he said. After a while, somebody sat beside Calvin and held his arm. It was Chun. They were both surprised to find him. “Hey Callie!” he said in a gayish and flirtatious tone. Calvin's eyes widened to see him, while Kit was laughing so hard.
--
Jiro took the shell necklace and stared at it for a long time. “I wonder where you are right now?” he thought. He closed his eyes, and he imagined her smiling face again. He could still remember her words when she gave him the necklace. “Whenever you're sad, just look at this necklace and think of me...” she said before. He wanted to find her, but he doesn't know where to start. So, he decided to leave it up to fate. If he would see her again, then he would be happy.
Suddenly, someone walked past him. He glanced at her. At one look, she thought it was her. He then decided to follow the girl. As soon as he reached her, he tapped her shoulder. The girl looked back, giving him a confused look. Jiro was surprised to see her. He was wrong. It was just Kit, Calvin's best friend. “Yes?” she asked him. Jiro smiled and shook his head. “Nothing. I thought you were someone I knew...” he said. Kit nodded her head. “I'm sorry if I disturbed you...” he said. “It's OK.” she said. Then, she smiled at him before going on her way. As she smiled, Jiro suddenly remembered the girl he knew before. She had the same smile as her. “Could it be... could it be Kit?” he thought. He could feel his heart beating faster upon seeing her smile. He felt this way when the girl smiled his way. He shook his head. It's very impossible that it's Kit. As he observed, she never left Calvin's side. He have to erase that thought for now.

Chapter 3 – Stolen Glances
Calvin was sitting at his usual seat at the back of the classroom, when he felt someone approach him. “Hi...” he looked up, and he saw Joy smiling at him. He felt that he was unable to move, and unable to speak upon seeing her smiling face. “Uhmmm... Calvin, are these seats taken?” she asked, referring to the two seats beside him. He was reserving that for Kit and Danson. Calvin smiled at her and shook his head. “It's vacant. You can sit beside me...” he said. Joy smiled back at him. “Thanks, Calvin!” she said. She sat beside him while her friend sat beside her. Calvin looked away from Joy and smiled secretly. He never thought that Joy would want to sit beside him.
He looked at her again. She was discussing a math problem with her friend. Both of them were confused on how their professor was able to come up with the correct answer. Then, Joy turned to him. “Calvin, can you help us with the math problem?” she asked Calvin nodded his head, and smiled at her. He took a pen, as Joy handed him her notebook. “This is how to get the answer...” he began. Joy and her friend were all ears to him as he explained it.
Meanwhile, Kit and Danson arrived. Kit was expecting that Calvin have reserved a seat for them, to her surprise, Calvin was seating beside Joy. There were no vacant seats at the back, and the only vacant seats available are at the middle and front rows. Kit felt mad at Calvin for not reserving the seats for them. He have always been saving seats for them, and she wondered how come Joy was sitting beside him. She admits, she felt the green-eyed monster creeping up to her. Danson looked at her, and he noticed how furious Kit is at that scene. “Kit, why don't we seat at the middle row instead?” he suggested. Not taking her eyes off Calvin and Joy, she nodded her head and then proceeded to the middle row. She stomped her feet while walking, which made Calvin notice her. “Hey, Kit!” he called. But Kit didn't looked back at him. He looked at Danson, who just shook his head at him. “She must be mad...” he thought. Then, he turned back to Joy and continued explaining the formula to use for the math problem.
“Hey...” Danson whispered to Kit. Kit, who was busy taking down notes and listening to their professor, looked at him. “You're not mad at Calvin for not saving the seats beside him, right?” he asked. Kit threw a glance at Calvin, who was also busy taking down notes. “Why would I get mad at him...” she said monotonously. “I know you're used to him having us save seats beside him. But look...”. Both of them looked back at Calvin. “At least he get to have to chance to sit beside... you know...”
Both of them knew about Calvin having a huge crush on Joy. Kit knows she should be happy for Calvin since he got a moment with Joy, but she felt jealous. Today, he'll spending a little time with her. She's afraid that if both of them would get closer, Calvin would eventually forget about her. “Yeah, I know. I'm happy for him.” she said. She continued to jot down notes, but Danson won't let her off the hook. “You are mad at him...” he whispered. This time, Kit glared at Danson. “No, I'm not...” she whispered back. “Jealous?” he asked again. “Nope...” she whispered. Then, they heard the professor coughed, eying at them. “Mr. Tang, Ms. Jin, would you like to share with this class your little conversation?”
--
“You can tell if that person is someone special because no matter what kind of mood you are in, she can always manage to make you smile.”
Calvin immediately put that note on his planner and kept the paper crane. He's feeling bad right now, because Kit was ignoring him the whole day. He knew that if she does that, it means he did something that really pissed her off. He looked back, and he saw Kit walking with Danson, “Kit!” he called. But, Kit still ignored him, and went on her way. Meanwhile, Danson stopped, and joined Calvin. “She's still mad about what happened in Algebra class?” he asked Danson. Danson shrugged his shoulder. “She said she's not but she's acting otherwise...” he said. Calvin shook his head. “She is mad. I know her. If I do something that she didn't like, she would ignore me the whole day...” he explained. “She always does that?” Danson asked. Calvin nodded his head. Calvin sighed, guess he would be able to talk to Kit once she have calmed down.
He then turned back to Danson. “Danson, can you keep an eye on her for me? She might not go home with me today, can you drive her home later? I'll talk to her at home.” he asked. Danson nodded his head. “No problem, dude. You know Kit's my friend as well...” he said. Calvin smiled at him and tapped his shoulder. “Thanks a lot, man.”
--
“Hey, Calvin...” Calvin looked up, and saw Joy smiling at him. Calvin smiled back at her. She sat beside him at the bench. “Why are you still here? It's already late...” Joy asked. “I'm waiting for someone... how about you?” he asked. “I'm waiting for Jiro.” she said. Joy looked up at him, and noticed the smile disappear from his face. “Is there something wrong?” she asked. Calvin looked at her again. “Everything's OK.” “Is Kit mad at you?” “No, she's not....” “Don't lie to me. I know how close you guys are. You guys were inseparable.” Calvin smiled faintly at her, then looked down. “Well, you could say that, she's ignoring me the whole day.” he confessed. “Was it because we took the seats that you're been reserving for her and Danson?” she asked again. Calvin shook his head. “No, no. This has nothing to do with you.” he said.
Joy looked away from him. “I noticed she was mad a while ago at Algebra. Maybe she's not used to not sitting beside you. I'm sorry if me and Gelly have to take her seat...” she said. Then, she looked back at her. “Actually, the real reason why we decided to sit beside you is because we badly needed help with Algebra. We really can't understand the lesson, so we seek help from you.” she confessed. Calvin smiled to himself. He was happy that Joy seek for his help. He really wanted to get close to Joy, and he know this would be a good start. “Well, if you need help with anything, you can always seek for me.” he said. Joy smiled and nodded her head. “Thanks, Calvin.” she said.
Just then, Jiro's car stopped in front of them. Joy stood up and said goodbye to him. “Tell Kit that I'm really sorry for stealing her seat...” she said to Calvin. He smiled and nodded his head He watched her as she got inside Jiro's car. The two waved goodbye at him before leaving. Calvin smiled to himself again. His paper crane girl is correct – his special someone just made him smile, despite the fact that he felt bad about Kit ignoring him the whole day.
--
Kit stared outside the window. That afternoon, Danson offered to drive her home, and she said yes. It's better than lash out her anger to Calvin on their way home. She needed to calm herself first before facing her best friend. “I think it would be better if you won't stay mad at Calvin.” she heard Danson say. Kit looked at him and gave him a confused look. “It's not about the seats, OK?” she said. She know where this conversation is already heading to. “OK, I didn't say anything yet. But, I just wonder why you're acting like a jealous girlfriend?” “You wouldn't understand, And besides, I am not acting like a jealous girlfriend...” “But you are. Looking at you two, you two liked you just had a lover's quarrel. You, a pissed off girlfriend, and he, a boyfriend who's trying to make peace with his girlfriend.”
Kit didn't answer him. This time, Danson got scared that she got Kit pissed off this time. “Sorry...” he said. Kit looked back at him, frowning. “Why are you saying sorry?” she asked. “Maybe you got pissed off with my joke.” he said. Kit simply smiled. “See, you look prettier when you smile.” Danson said. “Yeah, right...” she said as she rolled her eyes. “So what's the real deal?” he asked again. Kit stared outside the window before she could answer his question. “Why would you like to know?” “There must be a reason why you got pissed off at Calvin for giving our seats to Joy. I know it's not a big deal for you, and I know that you know how Calvin really feels toward Joy.” “That's the thing. I know how Calvin feels toward Joy...”
Danson gave her a confused look. “What do you mean?” he asked. This time, Kit faced him. “I know Calvin is in love with Joy, and he would grab every opportunity to be with her. It's just that when I saw them a while ago, it seems that they're being too close...” she explained. “Then, you should be happy for him, right? You've been teasing him for being such a sissy for not being able to confess his true feelings.” “That's the point. I know I should be happy for him, but at that moment I saw him with Joy, I got scared...” “And what are you scared of?” “I'm scared that he would eventually forget me if he gets too close with Joy...” Danson smiled, and shook her head. “I can't believe you could think of Calvin that way. You're supposed to be his best friend, right?” he said. Kit gave him a confused look. “Calvin cares for you more than anything else. And I could see that even if he gets himself a girlfriend, you would always come first. He could never forget you...” he said. Kit realized Danson is right. “No need to be insecure about Joy, OK?” Danson said. Kit nodded her head. “So you and Calvin will be OK, right?” he asked her again. “Of course. I'll talk to him as soon as I get home.” she said. “But tell me, Kit...” he said. Kit looked up at him again. “Do you like Calvin?”

Chapter 4: Secret Feelings
“Do you like Calvin?” Kit was caught off guard with Danson's question. “O-of course. I like him, he's my best friend...” she said. Danson laughed and shook his head. “I mean, like as in the way Calvin liked Joy?” “No. I don't have that kind of feelings towards him. Besides, I told myself that even if he's the last guy on earth, I won't ever fall in love with him.” Danson sighed with relief upon hearing her answer. He was scared that Kit would have fallen in love with Calvin. The truth is, he is secretly in love with Kit. He was trying to make his move in courting her, but he was scared that Kit would get mad at him if he would confess his love for her. Kit seems to be comfortable and contented with their friendship, and he was scared that if he tell her what's in his heart, Kit would avoid him.
“Is... is there someone else that you like?” he asked again. He know that he should not ask that question to her, for he's scared to know the answer. His heart would definitely break if he found out that she's eyeing on someone else. “There is...” Kit answered. Danson looked at her. “Too bad, I just can't tell that person how I feel...” she continued. Danson swallowed hard. He was blaming himself for asking that question. He could feel his heart breaking into a million pieces, but he composed himself and continued with the conversation. “W-why?” he forced himself to ask. Kit sighed. “Because that person is in love with Calvin...” she said. Danson looked at her with disbelief. He could feel what Kit will tell her next. Does Calvin know all a out this? “Who is this person?” he asked. “Oh, that person I like? Well, let me describe him to you. He have this big black orbs, when he smiles, you can see his cute cheekbones. He have this thin lips that you would want to kiss. All the girls liked him, but like them, I was also broken hearted when he confessed his love for Calvin...”
Danson could not believe what he just heard. Kit just described Chun, for he never thought she would like him. “You mean to say you like Wu Chun?” he asked. Kit nodded her head. “When Chun made his love confession in front of everyone, believe me, I wanted to kill Calvin at that instant. He was like matchmaking me to him, then it turns out that Chun would fall for Cal!” she said in a hurt tone. Danson doesn't know if he'll laugh or not. At least he was relieved. His rival would not be her best friend, but her best friend's gay admirer. “Well, you can laugh now, Danson. I know it's really funny for me to fall for someone like him, huh?” she said. Danson shook his head. “Of course, not. I feel for you...”
--
Calvin stared outside his bedroom window. He was staring at the room opposite his, which is Kit's room. The lights from Kit's room was turned on, and he saw Kit enter the room. He immediately took his phone and called her. After three rings, Kit picked up the phone. “Hello?” “Hey, Kit. It's me...” Kit looked outside the window and saw Calvin staring at her from his room. He waved at her. “Look, I'm sorry about what happened a while ago. Please forgive me... you know that I don't want you to get mad at me...” he said. While saying that, he was giving her puppy eyes. Kit just laughed at him. “Stop giving me puppy eyes. You look stupid....” she said. “Then tell me you're not mad at me anymore...” “OK, OK, OK... I'm not mad at you anymore. I'm sorry if I acted that way awhile ago...” “Then we're good?” “Yes, we are.”
Calvin smiled at her. “How's your day without me?” he asked. “It was OK. It was fun hanging out with Danson.” “Seems like you're getting close to him, huh?” “Why, are you getting jealous?” “Guess he's more fun that me, huh?” Kit smirked at her. “Why, isn't it fun hanging out with Joy?” she snapped back. Calvin just laughed. “It's not what you're thinking, OK. She just asked help with Algebra, that's all...” he said. Then, the smile on his face disappeared. “Besides, she's still dating Jiro Wang...” he said in a sad tone. “Aww... don't worry about it, Calvin. Besides, there's a lot of girls who would like to throw themselves at you. There's Rainie, Genie, Angela, Trixie, Chun...” “Oh, please don't ever put Chun's name on the list. And I know you're still hurt because it was my fault that Chun became gay...” “Good thing you know.” “That's why I'm making amends with my mistake.”
Both of them laughed at their so-called conversation. “So, I'll drive you to school tomorrow?” he asked. Kit nodded her head. “Sure. Would love that.” she said. “OK. I'll see you tomorrow then...” he said. They both said goodbye. Kit still stared outside the window and watched Calvin as he turned the lights off.
--
“Never start your day with a frowning face because you'll never know who's falling in love with your smile.”
Calvin smiled as he read the note that the paper crane girl left on his locker. He took the paper crane beside it, and stared at it for a long. Just then, someone took the note from his hand. He looked at his side, and saw Kit standing beside him. He was already reading his note. “Hey!” he said to her. Kit looked up at him and smirked. “Who the hell will fall for your stupid smile?” she asked. Calvin simply sighed at what she said. “Someone who can appreciate this sunshine smile, dork.” “And who are you calling dork?” “You. Someone who could not even appreciate this handsome face of mine.” “Ha ha. Very funny.” It was Calvin's turn to smirk. “At least I'm handsome. While you're -” before he could finish his sentence, Kit gave him dagger looks. “While I'm what?” she asked. “Pretty. Very pretty.” he was forced to say. Kit smiled at him when he said that.
Meanwhile, Hannah was walking past Calvin and Kit. She was busy staring at Calvin that she didn't realize that she bumped into someone. All of the books she was holding fell on the floor. “I'm sorry...” she said as she knelt down to pick up her books. “Next time, watch where you're going, dork!” she heard someone said. She looked up and saw that she bumped into Trixie. As she stood up, Hannah lowered her head. “I'm really sorry, Trixie.” she said again. Trixie rolled her eyes at her. “After bumping into me, you'll just say sorry? I cannot accept that.” she said. Her friends, who were standing behind her, snickered at Hannah.
Kit saw just what happened, so she immediately came to Hannah's rescue. “Hey!” Kit said. Trixie and her friends looked back at her, and saw them coming towards them. “She already said she's sorry, stop bullying her.” Kit said as soon as he came face to face with Trixie. Trixie rolled her eyes at her and smirked. “Why do you care? Are you her friend?” she asked. This time, Kit glared at her. “I may not be her friend, but I'm not stupid to see that you're bullying her.” Kit snapped back at her. “So, you're the smart ass, aren't you?” Trixie said. This time, it's Kit's turn to smirk at her. “At least I'm not as stupid as you are!” she snapped again. Trixie was insulted with what she said. She glared at her,m and stepped forward to attack her. “You pregnant dog!” she said. She was about to slap her, when somebody held her hand to stop her. As she turned, he saw Calvin holding her arm. He was glaring at her, then she let go of her arm. “Calvin?” Trixie said in a surprised tone. “I saw everything, Trixie.” he said in a hard tone. “She started it!” Trixie said, defending herself. “No. You're the one who started it. Can't you be satisfied with Hannah's apology? Why did you have to bully her?”
Trixie was unable to answer his question. Calvin then turned to Hannah and Kit, and helped Hannah carry her books. Then, he turned to Trixie again. “I hope this will be the last, Trixie. If you hurt Hannah or Kit, and especially Kit, I will never forgive you.” he said. Then, he put his arm around Kit, and the three of them (including Hannah) left the furious Trixie behind.
Trixie could only watch the three as they leave. She crossed her arm, and looked at Kit's back. “I swear. If Calvin and I got together, the BFF will have to go.” she said.
--
“Thank you for helping me...” Hannah said to the two in a low voice. She slowly looked up to them and smiled. Calvin smiled back at her. “No problem. If they bug you, let me and Kit know, OK?” Calvin said to her. Hannah nodded her head. Then, he handed her her books. “I... I'll see you two around, I guess?” she said. Kit smiled at her. “Sure. We'll see you around, Hannah. It's nice talking to you.” she said. Hannah nodded her head, and then went inside the classroom.
“I didn't know that you know her?” Calvin said to Kit as they walked to their next class. He was surprised that Kit knew Hannah's name. “Of course I do. She's Hannah Tan, the musical prodigy of our batch. Taking up, well of course, Music.” Kit said to him. Calvin paused and looked at her again. “How come you know who she is and I don't?” he asked again. “She's in one of my class. She's really shy, and keeps to herself. She doesn't hang out with anyone in this school. She just stays in the music room to practice piano.” she said in a matter-of-factly tone. Then she looked up at him and gave him a suspicious look. “Why, are you interested in her?” she asked. Calvin shook his head. “I'm just curious why... I believe I knew everyone from our batch except her...” he said. “She's a little shy, that's all.”
--
After making sure that Calvin is already away from her classroom, Hannah came out again, and watched him as he walked with his best friend. She smiled to herself. She was thankful that Kit and Calvin came to her rescue when Trixie was trying to bully her, and most of all, she's thankful that Calvin took time to talk to her. She have always wanted to befriend him, but because he's a very popular guy in school, she thought that he would reject her. She was happy that even for a short time, she was able to be with him. She wasn't asking for more. She just wanted to be close to her, even for just a short time.
But, she know that after this semester, he will not be able to see him again. The smile on her face slowly disappear at that thought. If only she have the courage to be with him again, she would... If only she will be given more time and another chance, she would not let it pass. She wished she could tell him what's in her heart before the semester ends.
--
Calvin stopped walking. He could feel his heart beating faster. He felt that someone was watching her. He looked back and he saw that no one was there. “Is there something wrong, Cal?” Kit asked him. He then looked at her. “I thought there was someone watching us...” he said. Then, she looked at Kit. “Do you think... do you think it's the paper crane girl?” Kit asked. Calvin shook his head. “I don't know... but I want to find out if it's her...”

Chapter 5 – The Search
At the soccer field...
Zen me ban wo yue lai yue ai Kuai gei wo de sheng gong gai bai Ai jiu ai ma shang yao jing cai Bu yao san kai Wei ni ku, wei ni xiao, wei ni down, wei ni high Wu di kang, bu shua lai, bu hui gai Kuai tao tai qing hong huo zao bai Zhi yao dui ni chong bai
Danson and Kit were singing on top of their lungs when Calvin came. “Hey!” he shouted at the two. The two wasn't able to hear them as their mp3 player was turned to loudest volume. “Hey!” Calvin shouted again. This time, the two stopped dancing and noticed Calvin. “Oh! You're already here?” Kit said. Calvin frowned at them. “Can you turn down that mp3 player, I need to talk to you guys...” he said. Danson and Kit looked at each other, then looked at Calvin. “We can't. It's our favorite song that's playing now!” Kit said. Calvin gave her dagger looks. “OK, OK.” she said. Then Danson turned the mp3 player off.
“What's with the long face, Mr. Chen?” Danson asked. Calvin sighed before he answered Danson's question. “I'm nervous...” he said. “What's there to be nervous about? It's just the first day of the campaign period. You can charm the whole school, believe me.” Kit said. Danson nodded his head in agreement. “Its not that... well partly yes... I don't know why I'm feeling this way.” he said. “Or is it because the paper crane girl have not left a message for you today?” Kit asked. Danson looked at at her, confused about what she was saying. “Paper crane girl?” he asked. Kit looked at him and began to explain everything to him. “It's Calvin's secret admirer. The one who leaves paper cranes and love notes to him.” she said. Danson nodded his head. Kit put her arm around Calvin and looked at him. “Don't tell me you miss the paper crane girl already?” “Well... yes. It's like this. She's the one who would always encourage me. Whenever I read her notes, it's like all my fears and worries would subside.” “You don't need that girl. You have me and Danson. We support you 100%.” “But it's still not the same without her... besides, it's been three days already since I last received a paper crane and note from her.”
Danson and Kit looked at each other again. “Well, I heard Chun's been out for 3 days. Maybe that's the reason why you haven't received anything.” he joked Calvin turned to him and punched him on his arm. “Aww...” he said while rubbing his arm. “Very funny.” he said. Danson just smiled at his friend. “I'm just joking!” he said. Then, Calvin looked at Kit. “Kit, you told me you'll help me find her, right?” Kit nodded her head. “Can you start looking for her?” he asked. Kit nodded her head again. “Sure. Danson will help me. Right, Danson?” she said, looking at her. Danson nodded his head. “Sure, no problem.” he said. Calvin smiled at his two friends. “Thanks a lot, guys!” he said as he put his arms around them.
--
Calvin entered their headquarters and found several students inside. These are his fellow candidates and co-party. “Hey, Cal. Good that you're here.” Nicholas, his senior, said to him. Nicholas is running for the presidency post of the student council. “We need to have a meeting before we start the campaign.” he said. Calvin just nodded his head. He watched as Nicholas walked over to another student to check on the banners. He turned around, and at one of the desks, he saw Joy preparing their campaign materials. He smiled, then walked over her. “Hey...” he said. Joy looked up at him and smiled. “Hi, Mr. Class Rep.” she said. Calvin gave out a small laugh and shook his head. “I'm not yet a Class Rep.” he said. “But you will be! You're the strongest candidate as Class Representative. I know you'll win.” she said. “Thanks, Joy. By the way, what are you doing here?” he asked. “I'm your party's campaign manager. I'll be helping you out guys throughout the campaign period.” she said.
Then, Joy took all of the campaign materials. “Anyway, I'll leave you for a while I need the admins to sign on our materials...” she said. She tried to hold all of the banners, but some of them fell on the floor. Calvin helped her pick it up. “You know what, I think I'll help you carry these.” “Are you sure?” “Yep. I'll just tell Nic I'll help you with these banners.” “Thanks a lot, Calvin.” Then, the two headed out of the door.
--
“Where should we start?” Danson asked Kit as they were walking through the hall. Kit just shrugged her shoulder. “Honestly, I have no idea.” she said. Danson put his hand on his pocket, and scratched his chin. “So, this girl would always leave the paper crane on Calvin's locker right?” “Right.” “And usually, what time does Calvin get this paper cranes?” “Hmmm... beats me. I think, it's usually right before our Algebra class. But he would get it at any time.”
Danson paused in front of Calvin's locker. He checked if there is a paper crane anywhere, but it seems that his secret admirer have not left him anything at all. “So, we have watch his locker from time to time. Maybe we could find out who this girl is. Anyway, the time is perfect since we both don't have classes that time, right?” he said. Kit smiled at him and nodded his head. “You're right. And maybe we could hide from....” she looked around the place, then he saw a corner not far from Calvin's locker. She then pointed at that corner to Calvin. “There! We could hide from that corner.” she said. Danson looked at him, then turned to Kit and nodded his head. “Great. We have the great plan to find out who this girl is. Calvin will know who she is in no time.” he said. Kit nodded his head in agreement.
Danson leaned on the locker and sighed. “Do you think Calvin's already in love with this girl?” he asked her. “Well, maybe he is. He's already showing signs that he is...” she answered. “You're not jealous if he is already?” he asked. Kit shook her head. “I know that she have a good intention with what she's doing. If Cal would chose her to be his girlfriend, then I would accept that. As long as she won't hurt him...” she said. Danson smiled at her. “I know that she won't. I just hope that we could find this girl... for our friend...” “Maybe we can start this tomorrow. Besides, I doubt if the paper crane girl will show up now.” she said. “Yeah, I think so. Would you like to go to the cafeteria?” he asked. “Good thing you asked. I'm already hungry.” she said. Then the two headed to a different direction to go to the cafeteria.
What they didn't know is that someone have been eavesdropping on them – It was Trixie. She came out from the corner where she was hiding a while ago. “Paper crane girl, huh?” she said as she crossed her arm. Then, an idea hit her head. “What Trixie wants, Trixie gets. One day, I'll be able to have you by myself, Calvin Chen.” she said to herself.
--
Jiro was walking through the crowded school hall. He looked around him, as if he was looking for something, for someone. At one corner of his eye, he saw a girl. He could only see her back, but for him, she seemed familiar. “Tin?” he called. Before he knew it, the girl is already out of her sight. He tried to run, but the crowd was stopping him. “Tin!” he shouted. He fought his way out of the crowd to get to her. He found himself at the end of the hall. Suddenly, the crowd has vanished, and he was all alone. “Where is she?” he thought. He have found her, but now, he have lost her. “Jay?” she heard someone call. He looked back and saw her smiling at her. “Tin?” he called again. He walked towards her, and reached for her.
“Jiro? Jiro...” he felt someone nudging him. He slowly opened his eyes, and saw Kit waking him up. Jiro sat up from his seat, and then rubbed his eyes. He realized that he fell asleep at the study hall while waiting for his girlfriend. “Sorry if I had to wake you up. You were moaning, and I thought you were having nightmares...” she said as she took the seat beside him. Jiro looked at her and smiled. “No, it's OK...” he said. Kit then smiled back at her.
Upon seeing her smile, he felt his heart began to beat fast. “What is this?” he thought. He wondered why all of a sudden, his heart was beating faster whenever he is with Kit, especially when she smile at him. Kit stared at him. “Is there something wrong?” she asked. Jiro immediately shook his head. “I'm just tired, I guess. I've been waiting for Joy for two hours now...” “I think they're still doing something at their headquarters right now. I just went there a while ago.” “So, are you waiting for Calvin?” “Yeah. He'll drive me home tonight.”
Jiro looked at his watch and sighed. “Guess it won't hurt for me to wait for Joy for a little while...” he said. He reached for his pocket and took out his mobile phone. Joy just sent him a text message, and so he read it. “Hunny, I'm sorry, I think I'll be here longer than expected. You can go home now. Sorry again, I love you.” it read. Jiro slumped on his seat after reading that. “She wanted me to go home without her....” he said to Kit. Just then, Kit's phone rang. It was Calvin. “Hello? Yes, Cal.... Uh-huh... OK I understand.... I'll see you tomorrow then... bye...” he heard her say on the phone. “Is that Cal?” he asked. Kit nodded her head. “He said he have to stay until their finished. He asked me not to wait up for him...” she said. Then, the put her chin on the table. “Aiyo... and Danson have already left... guess I have to commute tonight...” she said. Jiro turned to her and smiled. “If you want, I can drive you home...” he suggested. Kit looked up at him. “are you sure?” she asked. He smiled and nodded his head. “Well, I can't refuse your offer. It's already late, and I don't think it's safe to commute at this time.” she said. “OK then,” Jiro said. He stood up from his seat and took his bag. “Let's go now. The traffic is terrible.”
--
Calvin slouched on his chair. He looked at the campaign materials and banners right in front of him, and then he sighed. He never thought that running as Class Rep would be a lot of work. “I wonder if this would pile up when I got the post...” he thought. He then looked at his watch. It was already 9 PM. “I wonder if Kit's already home...” he thought. He reached for his phone and dialed Kit's number. It took 5 rings before she picked up the phone. “Hello?” he heard the sleepy Kit on the other hand. He laughed upon hearing her groggy voice. “Did I woke you up?” he asked. “Calvin... I'm already sleeping... what do you want?” “I just want to check if my best friend is already home?” “Yeah, I am and I'm already sleeping... where are you?” “Still at school...” “Aren't you going home yet?” “I just need to finish something for tomorrow's campaign.” “Can you finish that tomorrow? You'll be late tomorrow if you stay there...” “I will in a while...” “By the way... just to let you know... we found a perfect plan to find out who your paper crane girl is. I'll let you know tomorrow...” “Great! OK. I'll go home now. I'll see tomorrow, OK?” “Yeah, and don't be late in picking me up. I don't want to late at my first period...” “OK, OK. I'll go home now.” “OK, good night. Drive safely...”
He ended the call. As he turned to his side, he saw Joy who was still busy preparing their campaign materials. He stood up, and walked over to her seat. “Aren't you going home yet?” he asked her. Joy looked up at him, and nodded her head. “I'll just finish this banner, then I'm ready to go.” she said. “Jiro must be waiting for you...” he said. Joy looked up to him again and smiled. “I asked Jiro to go home already...” she said. “So... no one will drive you home?” he asked again. She needed her head. Calvin smiled at her. “Want me to give you a lift?” “Would love to.” “OK. I think we should head home now or else we'll be late for tomorrow.” Joy just nodded his head. The took their bags and then headed outside the room.

Chapter 6: Getting Closer Calvin stopped his car in front of Joy's house. “Here we are...” he said to her. Joy turned to him and smiled sweetly. “Thank you for the ride, Calvin.” she said. “Sure, anytime. If you want, I can drive you home if Jiro's not available.” he said as she smiled at her. “I'll bear that in mind. I'll see you tomorrow then?” she said. Calvin just nodded his head. He watched Joy as she got out of his car. Before she entered their home, Joy turned to him and waved goodbye. “Yes!” he thought. One point for Calvin Chen. He wished he could have this kind of moment with Joy more often. -- The next day, Kit and Danson were hiding at the corner near Calvin's locker. They were waiting for the paper crane girl to appear in front of his locker. An hour have passed already, and she was nowhere in sight. “Do you think she would come?” Danson asked as he looked at his watch. A few more minutes and the school bell will rang, and all of the students would come out of the classroom. “I knew she will!” Kit said. Five minutes before the bell rang, and still, no paper crane girl have appeared. “I don't think she's coming...” Danson said in dismay. “Maybe she'll come at another time...” Kit said. Both of them came out of hiding and walked towards Calvin's locker.. To their surprise, they saw a paper crane hanging on it. “Whoa! She is fast! How come we didn't notice her?” Danson said. Kit looked at the locker, and saw a small yellow paper peeping inside. Kit carefully pulled it, and read it's content. School bell rang, and as expected, the students filled the hallway. Calvin saw Danson and Kit by his locker, and from what he sees, it seems that the paper crane girl have left him another small gift. “Have you found her?” he asked as he approached his friends. The two looked up at him and shook their head. Calvin could only sigh with dismay. “Well, at least she left this paper crane and note for you.” Kit said as she hands him his love note. Calvin took, and read what's written on the paper. “<insert love quote here>” it read. Calvin smiled as he read his love note for that day. “So when did she left these?” he asked. The two just shrugged. “We were trying to catch her, but when we checked your locker, it's already there... I'm not sure if that girl left that before our vacant period” Danson said. “That girl sure knows how not to get caught...” Calvin said. He was sad that he was not able to found out who she is, but he knows there will be another day. At least, now, she's back. “I just wish she would continue these things...” he said in a low voice. Kit heard what he said, so he moved her face closer to his, staring him into his eyes. “In love with this mysterious girl?” she asked. Calvin just blushed at her question. Danson laughed at him. “Well, we got his answer. I think he is...” he said. He put his arm around him, and tapped his shoulder. “So, does that mean you're giving up on... you know...” Danson asked. Calvin looked at him and shook his head. Kit shook her head in disappointment. “I never thought you could be such a playboy, Cal...” “It's not that. I mean.... I know I have no chance at Joy anymore since she's already Jiro's girl, but that won't stop me from liking her and befriending her, right?” “But what about this mystery girl? I mean, you can't love two girls at the same time, well unless this paper crane girl really is Chun...” Danson said. Kit just laughed at what he said. “Oh my God, Cal's a bisexual?” she exclaimed. Calvin gave both of them dagger looks. “Hey! We're not sure about this girl's identity, OK. Stop teasing me about that... And besides, as I've said, I think Joy could be a good friend of mine. I can see she's happy with Jiro, so I guess I'll give this paper crane girl a chance... whoever she is...” he said. “So, whoever this girl is, you would accept her?” Kit asked. Calvin nodded his head. “Even if she's the ugliest girl on earth. All that matters to me is what's inside her heart...” he said. Kit smiled at his friend upon hearing his answer. At least Calvin got to be more mature when it comes to the matters of the heart. “Except of course if he is Chun. I am not gay, OK?” he continued. The two laughed at his defensive answer. “Fine, fine... we'll stop teasing you about that.” Danson said. Just then, someone came up to Calvin and covered his eyes. “Guess who...” someone said. By the tone of the voice, he already guessed who it is. He took the hands off his eyes, his eyes widened upon seeing Chun behind him. Danson was laughing hard at his reaction. “And speaking of the devil...” he thought. “Oh, Callie... I missed you so much!” Chun said as he hugged him tight. “[Ugh, get away from me!” Calvin said. Calvin did his best to break free from Chun's embrace, but to no avail. Kit, who was irritated at that sight, came into Calvin's rescue and helped him get away from Chun. “Callie, why? Didn't you miss me?” Chun said to him. “Chun, stop it. This is getting gross...” Danson commented. Kit held Chun's arm and then turned to the two. “You two, run as far as you could. I'll talk to this gay guy here...” she said. Chun tried to let go from Kit's grip and follow Calvin and Danson, but he wasn't able to do so. “Calvin! Wait for me!” he shouted. When Danson and Calvin were already out of his sight, he turned to Kit. “We need to talk, Chun... and this time, you can't escape me...” she said. -- Calvin found himself in front of the music room. Danson left him to check if Chun were able to follow them, so he kept on running. As he stopped in front of the room, he heard a sweet music coming from inside. Out of curiosity, he carefully opened the door, and peeked inside. He saw Hannah playing the piano. He watched her as her fingers swiftly move onto the piano's ivory keys. He saw how she enjoyed playing that tune, as if she was one with the music. Slowly, he opened the door, and sneaked inside, and continued to watch her. As the music ended, he clapped his hand to show how he appreciated her music. Hannah was startled at that clap. She turned and saw Calvin standing by the door. “C-calvin?” she stuttered. Calvin smiled at her, and walked towards her. “Sorry to sneak up on you like that... I was trying to run away from someone, and so I am here...” he said. Hannah smiled back at him. “It's OK... I just thought no one usually comes here in the music room.” she said. Calvin sat beside her, and began to play a few notes. “Do you go here often?” he asked. Hannah nodded her head. “I usually come here to practice piano.” she said. “I heard from Kit that you're taking up music?” he asked again. “Yes. Piano is my major, so I often practice here in the music room.” she said. “That's really nice. I used to take up piano as a kid, but I didn't have the patience with it so I stopped taking up my piano lessons.” “Well, as they say with the piano... first you have to know the rules then play with your heart.” Then, she began to play another tune – it was Moon River. “I like that one...” he said. Hannah looked up to him. “You want to learn how to play this piece?” she asked. Calvin nodded his head. “I've been wanting to play this for so long, but I just couldn't get the notes right.” he said. Hannah just smiled at him. “Here, I'll teach you. Watch me...” then, she began to play the first few notes of Moon River. Calvin watched her hand, and as she stopped, he tried to play the notes on the piano. Then, Hannah looked at him and smiled. She then played the next few notes of the song, and then Calvin followed. Before they knew it, they were playing the song together. -- Kit pulled Chun at the rooftop. “Stop pulling me, it hurts!” Chun shouted at Kit. Kit stopped walking. She let his hand go and faced him. Chun shook off his hand to ease the pain. “Awww... you really didn't have to do that, you know.” he said to her. “Didn't have to do that? Didn't have to do that?! You were harassing my best friend, Wu Ji Chun!” she shouted at him. Chun was shocked upon seeing her flaring up. “Why do you have to do this, Chun? Why does it have to be Calvin, huh? Can you stop with these pranks?” she shouted at him again. “This is not a prank, Kit..” he tried to explain. “Not a prank? d**n it, Chun! Stop acting like a gay, and don't tell me you are one, because I know very well, Chun..” she said. Kit took a deep breath, and then faced him again. “We both know you're doing that because of a stupid dare. So I'm saying, stop it, OK?” she said in a more calm tone. Chun sighed, and then shook his head. “OK, OK... you got it right. I'm doing this because of a stupid dare... you know that why I'm doing this, right?” “Because that's the only way you could get in that stupid school org.” Chun shook his head. “I'm doing this to get the attention of the girl I really like...” he said. With that, Kit looked up to him “Girl you like?” she asked, smiling to herself. Chun nodded his head. “Trixie...” he said. Kit felt heart broken into a million pieces. The smile on her face abruptly disappeared. She have a crush on Chun before, and she never thought that he would like Trixie. “A-and... and did it worked?” she asked. Chun shook his head. “Nah, all I got from her is a smirk. Guess it was a stupid move, huh?” he asked. Kit turned away from him, and walked away, which startled Chun. “Kit?” he called. Kit looked back at him and then walked towards him. “B-but... Trixie likes Calvin a lot... does it ever bother you?” she asked. Chun shook his head and smiled. “Nah. I'm just doing that to irritate Calvin. It worked somehow... At least I got my avenge on him for ignoring Trixie all this time...” he said. Kit then turned back and glared at him. “How can you be so stupid, Chun? It's obvious that Trixie would only have her eyes on Cal? And acting like a gay whose so in love with Calvin doesn't help either, OK?” she shouted at him. “Why do you care about me being stupid about the whole thing? I know you're annoyed with me and -” “Because I like you, Wu Ji Chun! I liked you a lot!” Chun was surprised at what she said. He was too surprised that he was unable to speak. “I liked you since high school, but you... you never even take a second look at me...” she said in a low voice. Then, she looked up at him. “If you're thinking you could annoy Calvin by that, then you won. But please, stop acting like a gay just because you want someone to notice you. Because... because...” “It's breaking your heart?” he managed to say. Kit just nodded his head. He then pulled her close to him and hugged him. “I'm sorry, Kit... I'm sorry that I can't love you the way that you love me...” -- “Trixie, girl... I found something that could make you really happy.” Rina, Trixie's friend said as she walked towards her. Trixie closed her locker, and then faced her friend. Rina leaned to her, and whispered something to her. While Rina was telling her everything, her lips formed into a smile. “Really?” she asked. Rina nodded her head. “Well then, I guess we can proceed with my plan after all... -- Chun and kit were sitting at the rooftop. They were laughing at some joke that Chun told a few seconds ago. Kit looked up at him, and smiled. “Chun, thank you...” she said to him. Chun just smiled at her. “At least, we're good now, right?” he asked. Kit nodded her head. “And you don't have to worry about a thing. I'll definitely keep my promise.” he said. Just then, Danson came. He was surprised to see the two laughing together. “OK, can someone tell me what happened here?” he asked. The two stood up as Danson approached them. “It's OK, Danson. We already talked.” she said to him. “I won't bug Calvin anymore...” he said to Danson. Danson looked at him with disbelief, then he turned to Kit. “Seriously?” he asked her. Kit smiled and nodded her head. “Thats... well... that's great... what did you say to him?” he asked her, pointing at Chun. “Oh nothing, she just told me she was hurting whenever I act gay in front of Calvin.” he said in a boastful tone. Kit smirked at Chun and slapped him on the shoulder. Then, he glared at Danson who was laughing so hard. “Very funny, Wu Ji Chun...” she said. “Kidding... The truth is, I'm just annoying Calvin with the gay thing, and it worked...” he explained. Danson was surprised at what he heard. “Really? So you're not really gay?” he asked Chun. Chun just nodded his head. “Too bad, Calvin's already out of gay admirer...” Danson said as he shook his head. “I think Cal's already looking for us, Kit.” Danson said to Kit. Then, he turned to Chun. “You wouldn't mind me taking Kit along, won't you?” he asked him. Chun shook his head. “Nah, I think the two of you should get going. Just say sorry to Calvin for me. I'll talk to him when I see him.” he said. The two nodded their head. “Don't worry, we'll back you up when you talk to him...” Kit said. Danson put his arm around Kit, and then they turned to leave. “Kit...” they heard Chun call. Kit paused, and looked back at him. He smiled at her. “Don't worry, you're secret is safe with me...” he said. Kit nodded their head, and they turned to leave. Danson looked over at Kit, confused about what Chun said. “What secret?” he thought, wondering what Chun meant by it. -- “So, who are you running away from?” Hannah asked as she and Calvin walked through the lobby. “Chun, the gay admirer...” he said. Hannah just laughed at what he said. “What is there to run about? He's just letting you know how much he adores you...” “But it's irritating though. I know he likes me, but with how he's acting lately, it's almost like I'm being harassed.” “Actually, I think he's a brave guy for admitting he likes you, but if he is harassing you... well it's a different story.” Just then, they saw Danson and Kit coming. “Hey, Cal!” Danson called. Calvin smiled at his two friends. “So what happened?” he asked Kit. “I talked to the guy. Don't worry, he'll stop annoying you.” she said to Calvin. Then, she looked at his side, and saw Hannah standing. “I see that you're with Hannah...” she said. “Actually, I hid inside the music room, and saw Hannah there...” he said. Kit just gave him a suspicious smile. “Oh...” she said as she nodded her head. Then, she looked at Hannah and winked at her. “Well, at least we got rid of one problem...” he said. He looked at Hannah and smiled at him. “Uhmm... I think I should go now. It was nice hanging out with you, Calvin...” she said. She said goodbye to Danson and Kit, then went on her way. “She sure is a nice girl...” Kit said to Calvin. “She sure is. Its cool to hang out with her...” Calvin said. Danson looked at Calvin and smiled. “So, you want to hang out with her?” he asked. Calvin nodded his head. “She taught me how to play the piano. Plus, she seems to be a really smart girl. I won't mind being friends with her.” he said. Kit smiled at his friend. “Don't worry, she's in one of my classes. I'll tag her along one of these days.” she said. -- A/N sorry for making a lame chapter, 24 hours kasi akong walang tulog and I just want to update this fic

Chapter 7 – Her Lies
“Please vote for Calvin Chen as our Class Rep. Please vote for Calvin Chen as our Class Rep...” Joy wiped the sweat from her forehead. She never thought being a campaign manager would be this hard. It's the day before the elections, and this is the last day for their campaign. They really have to work hard so that their party would win. At the other side, she saw Calvin doing his part. He was also giving out flyers to the students and campaigning his co-party. She smiled as he watched him, she never thought Calvin would be this dedicated. Maybe that's the reason their party chose him as Class Representative of their batch instead of picking Jiro again to run this school year.
Calvin glanced at her, and saw her looking at her. He smiled back at her. After he gave the last flyer to one of the students, he walked towards her. “Are you OK?” he asked. Joy just nodded her head. “Just a little tired, but I'm enjoying this.” she said. He took a bottled water by the table beside her, opened it, then gave it to Joy. “Thanks...” she said as she took it. “Well, we did a lot of work today. Tomorrow would be the judgment day...” “Are you nervous?” “Well... a little. I'm not really after winning the post. There's no harm in trying, right?” Joy smiled and nodded her head. “I think you'll get the position. You're the strongest contender as class rep.” she said. “Well, let's see tomorrow if that's the case...” he said. “By the way, are you ready for the debate later?” Calvin nodded his head. “I've prepared my speech. Thanks to Kit.” he said. “You guys are really close, huh?” “We're like brothers and sisters. She's the sister I've never had, and I'm like her big bro. Our parents think we're twins since we're inseparable since the day we first met.” “Actually, I envy you two. I wish I could have a guy best friend like you...”
Calvin could only smile at what she said. “Well... I could be your guy best friend...” he said. Joy just laughed at what he said. “What?” he asked. “I don't think Kit's willing to share you to me. I could still remember her reaction when I stole her seat during Algebra class...” she said. Calvin shook his head and laughed. “Nah, she would understand. Trust me.” he said. Then, he looked at her and winked. Then, she extended her hand to him, and Calvin took it. “Well, Class Rep Chen... you got yourself a new girl best friend...”
--
“Aren't we supposed to be helping out your best friend with his campaign?” Danson asked Kit as they were hiding at their corner, waiting for Calvin's paper crane girl. “Actually, we could help Calvin more if we find this girl, and besides, Joy would be there helping him out.” she said. She was all eyes on Calvin's locker, waiting for someone to stop by it and leave something. “Am I hearing a hint of jealousy in your voice?” he asked. Kit glared at him, them nudged him on his chest. “Aw... you don't have to be so rough you know...” he said.
Just then, a girl came and stopped at his locker. “Hey, I think she's the one...” Kit said to him. They observed the girl, who just remained standing and staring at his locker. “Are you sure it's her? Hey I think I know her...” Danson said. Kit took Danson's hand and pulled him out from hiding. “Let's go get her!” Kit said. They were a few meters a way from Calvin's locker, when they realized who the girl was. Both looked at each other with disbelief. “Hannah?” the both said. They looked back and saw Hannah already gone. The two of them immediately ran to his locker, and they saw a paper crane hanging on it's knob. “We got her...” Danson said. Then, she looked at Kit, and they smiled at each other, enjoying their triumph of finding Calvin's paper crane girl... or so they thought.
--
“I heard they were looking for that paper crane girl...” Rina told Trixie on their way to their class. “Well, if they are looking for her, then we'll give him the paper crane girl.” she said. Trixie looked at her friend and smiled. “Are you sure you're going to do this? What if someone claims that she is the paper crane girl?” “The plan is perfect. Too perfect to have any flaw in it. Calvin won't ever notice.” Rina just shook her head. “You're really going to do everything to get Calvin's attention, huh? Why don't you just give Chun a chance instead?” she asked. Trixie rolled her eyes and gave her a disgusted look. “Puh-leaze, Rina. Even if he's not gay anymore, I find him so disgusting and stupid.” she said. “Well then, good luck on your plan then. Hope you'll be happy after you got Calvin.”
--
“Do you think we should tell Calvin what we found?” Danson asked as he leaned on Calvin's locker. “Now?” Kit asked. Danson nodded his head. “I think it would be better if we talk to Hannah before telling Cal what we found.” “Why should we talk to her?” “So that she'll be ready in case Calvin proposes to her. And besides, we should let her know that we already know that she is the paper crane girl...”
Danson nodded his head in agreement. Kit is right. It would be better to let Hannah know first that they already knew that she's Calvin's secret admirer. “And besides, I'm a little scared. Calvin and Hannah's beginning to be close, I don't know how Calvin would react if he found out his new-found friend is his secret admirer. Knowing him, he don't like it if his friend would fall for him...” she said. Danson looked at her and smirked. “Are you talking from your own experience?” he asked. Kit looked at him and raised an eyebrow at him. “No, I am not.” she said. She sighed, and then crossed her arms. “Well, he always tell me that as much as possible, he doesn't want to fall for a friend and vice-versa... I guess that's already changed. Anyway, he said he would accept this girl whoever she is, right?” she said. “Yeah, you're right. I think it would be better if we let them meet and talk, then Calvin would know what to do...” Danson said. Kit nodded her head. “Then, I think we should find the two and let them meet now.”
--
On her way to the music room, Hannah's mobile phone rang. She took it from her bag, and answered it. “Hello?” “It's me...” “Oh...” “Thank you for your help...” Hannah smiled to herself. “You're welcome. But, can you tell why - ” she asked. She heard her sigh before she answered her question. “It's a long story... maybe one day I'll tell you. Besides, I think he would not understand if he found out why I'm doing this...” “He's a nice guy. He would understand...” “I wish he would... one day, I'll let him know who I am, but for now, just let things be as they are... again, thanks for your help today...”
Hannah ended the call. Her mind was filled with questions. She wants to think this girl is weird, but she could understand her. After all, they both love the same guy. She have a lot of questions for her, but she just have to trust in her that one day she will tell her the truth. Hannah knows that by helping her, she was helping her in return. She would be leaving in s few months' time, and this would be the only way she could let Calvin know what's in her heart.
--
Kit went to the headquarters of Calvin's electoral party to look for him. As she was about to enter the room, she saw Joy who was about to come out of the room. “Hey, Kit!” she greeted. Kit just gave her a smile. “Hey, have you seen Calvin?” she asked him. Joy shook her head. “He was with me a while ago, but I think he's already in the auditorium for the final campaign.” she said. “Do you think it would take that long? I need to talk to him...” Kit asked. Joy looked at her watch and nodded her head. “It just started so it will take that long.” she explained. Kit gave out a sigh. She was not able to catch Calvin today, and she guess the next chance she could get to talk to him is when he gets home. That is, is he won't come home late again. She looked up at Joy, and smiled. “OK. I'll try to catch him. Thanks for your help...” she said. She waved goodbye to her, and went to the auditorium.
--
“Jiro!” Danson shouted as soon as he saw Jiro at the soccer field. Jiro looked back at him and smiled. “Hey, Danson...” he greeted. Danson approached him and took the seat beside him at the bench. “Hey, do you know Hannah Tan?” he asked. Jiro scratched his chin as he tried to remember that name. “I've heard that name somewhere...” he said, thinking in which class he was classmates with this girl he was asking. “Hannah... Hannah... she's the musical prodigy, right?” he asked again. Danson nodded his head. Jiro's eyes lightened up as he remembered where he heard her name. “Hannah Tan! Yes, I remember, she's in the same class with me in History...” he said. “And what time is your History class today?” Danson asked. “Around 3 PM. But we don't have a class today. Professor Young will be conducting the debate for the candidates today.” Jiro explained. Danson sighed with disappointment upon hearing what Jiro said. “Do you her number or something?” Danson asked again. Jiro shook his head. “She never gave out her number to anyone, that's what I know. Is there anything that you need from her?” he asked. Danson nodded his head as he smiled at him. “I need to talk to her about somethings...” he said. Then, he tapped Jiro's shoulder. “Thanks for the help, man.” he said. He stood up from his seat and then started to look for Kit.
--
The debate was about to end when Calvin felt his mobile phone vibrated. He took it from his pocket, and he saw a message from Kit. “Meet you at your locker. There's something that I have to tell you. We found her.” it says. Calvin was surprised at Kit's message. Finally, they were able to find his paper crane girl. He definitely can't wait to know who this girl is. As soon as Professor Young dismissed the audience, he immediately stood up from his seat. “Cal, where are you going?” Nicholas asked. Calvin looked back at him and smiled. “I have some emergency that I need to take care of...” he explained. Nicholas nodded his head. “OK. I'll see you later at our headquarters, OK? Don't be late for our final meeting.” he said. Calvin nodded his head, then headed out of the auditorium.
--
“Why didn't you tell me that you have Hannah's number?!” Danson shouted Kit as they were walking through the lobby, on their way to the locker. Kit was trying to call Hannah from her mobile phone at that moment. “I said I'm sorry, OK? It slipped my mind...” she said. “Then you could've spared me the exhaustion of looking for her... I practically have to ask the whole school to find her.” he said, frowning at her. Kit just laughed at him for throwing tantrums at her. Danson was trying not to smile at her, but he could not help it. Anyway, he love this girl, and nothing that would do that could keep him mad at her for a long time. “OK, how about I treat you later for some shaved ice later?” she said. Danson smiled and nodded his head. “It's a date.” he said.
Just then, Kit heard Hannah's phone ringing on the other line. After three rings, Hannah answered her call. “Hi Hannah, this is Kit from your History class...” she said. “Oh, hi Kit? What can I do for you?” “Danson and I need to talk to you... Is it OK with you if we meet you at Calvin's locker now?” “Calvin's locker? OK. I'm on my way to the music room. I'll meet you there...” “Thanks Hannah. See you.” Kit ended the call, and then looked at Danson. “She's coming...” she said, smiling at him. “And Calvin's coming. Let's see the look on their face if they found out about each other...”
--
Trixie looked to her sides to make sure that no one's around. She smiled to herself, and then walked towards Calvin's locker. “Looks like the paper crane girl didn't leave you any gifts today, huh?” she thought. She reached for her bag, and took a paper crane inside it. She slid the paper into the locker's handle. Then, she took a small paper, and slid it to his locker.
“Trixie?” she heard someone say. At the corner of her eye, she saw Calvin standing behind her. Again, she smiled to herself. “It's show time...” she thought. She turned around, giving him a surprised look. “C-calvin?” she said in a surprised tone. She could see the shocked expression on his face. “Y-you? You are my paper crane girl?”
--
Danson and Kit saw Calvin and Trixie by Calvin's locker. They immediately ran towards them, and was surprised at what Calvin asked Trixie. “Y-uou? You are my paper crane girl?” he asked. Trixie was not able to answer for a while. Kit knew that Trixie would lie to him. She was about to walk towards them and explain everything to Calvin, but Danson stopped her. They both looked at each other, as if telling each other to wait for what Trixie would say. “I... I didn't know you would find out this way...” they heard Trixie said. Then, Trixie looked up at Calvin and said. “Yes Calvin, I am the paper crane girl...”
At the other side, Kit and Danson saw Hannah standing. She was far from them but they could see the surprised look at her face. They both saw how her books fell on the floor upon hearing what Trxie said, and they both feel for her. “No...” Kit said in a low voice. “She's lying... you got it all wrong...”
--
She saw everything. She saw how Trixie lied in front of the man she loves. She wanted to go there and tell him that she was the one he was looking for, but she knew there would be a bigger consequence if she does that. She can't let him know. Not now..
At that scene, she felt her heart breaking into a million pieces. How could someone else assume her identity? Why does she have to lie to him in order to have his heart. At that moment, she wanted to cry, she could already feel the tears forming at the corner of her eyes, but she did her best to act brave in front of him, of everyone. She can't let everyone in that scene see the tears in her eyes. For her, there is nothing else that she could do but just watch him and wait for what Calvin would have to say and do.
She may have him now, but someday, the truth will come out... One day, Calvin will now that she is his real paper crane girl...

Chapter 8 - Taking Chances
“Yes Calvin, I am the paper crane girl...” he heard Trixie said. Calvin could not believe what he heard. He looked back, and saw Danson and Kit, he saw Kit shook her head. "Are you sure you are?" he asked again. Trixie slowly nodded her head. Kit could not believe that Trixie would lie to them. "It's not her! It's not her!" she wanted to shout. She looked at Danson, hoping he would speak up. "Maybe we're wrong..." she heard him say. Then, she looked back at Calvin. She saw him shook his head. She could tell that he was confused as well. Then, she looked at Hannah. She too surprised that she dropped her books when Trixie told Calvin she was the paper crane girl. She could sense she was affected by this. She watched her as she turned around and ran away from that scene. "Hannah!" she shouted. She ran after her, and soon, Danson followed her. Calvin could only watch his friends as they chase Hannah.
“This is... insane. How could it be you?” Calvin said to Trixie. She was most likely to be his paper crane girl, because she have been chasing him ever since. “Because it's the only way I could let you know that my intentions are real, Calvin. I love you, I really do... but you didn't gave me the chance to prove to you that I do love you...” she said. At that moment, he didn't know what to do. He didn't like Trixie, but he love his paper crane girl. Now that he knew that Trixie is his paper crane girl, he have to accept her. After all, it's what's inside Trixie's heart that matters, but still, the way things turned out to be still confuses him. “I... I'm sorry Trixie...” he said to her. Trixie, on the other felt scared. Her plans are not working. She have to think of ways to convince Calvin that she is the one for him. “I guess I'm just a little overwhelmed with what's happening. I... I need time to think...” he said. He turned to leave, but he felt Trixie hug him. “I love you...” he heard her voice cracking. “Please give me a chance, Calvin. That's all I'm asking... Give me a chance to show you how much I love you...” He took her hand, and detached himself from her embrace. Then, he faced her again. For the first time, he saw the tears in her eyes. He reached for her face and wiped the tear from her cheeks. “Trixie...” “If you can't love me, it's all right. Just let me love you. I have enough love for the two of us. Please... just let me love you...” “Give me time to think. I need to clear my mind...” “Calvin, I'm willing to do anything for you. I'm willing to give everything for you... please...” “Trixie...” “Please, Calvin...” He closed his eyes for a moment. He's still having second thoughts giving his answer to Trixie. “Trixie. I can't give you an answer now... give me time to think, then I'll do the right thing...”
--
The lonely tune played on the piano. Her fingers, heavy as she press the ivory keys, just like how her heart is feeling now. Moon River, it was Calvin's favorite tune. She was playing it, for him, for her broken heart. Then, she heard the door slowly open. A figure came in, and walked slowly towards her. She looked up at her, and she saw the tears on her eyes. She looked at the girl sitting by the piano, and she could see the sadness in her eyes. She could clearly see the tears in her eyes. She could also feel her heart breaking into pieces.
The figure sat beside her. She was not speaking, but she was listening to her soft sobs. She put her hands on the piano, and then she began to play the tune she was playing before she came in. Moon River. She knew it was not just Calvin's favorite, it was also this girl's favorite tune. She felt her head lay on her shoulder. She looked at her, and she put her arms around her. She wished she could protect her from all the pain, she wished to take away all the heartaches she is feeling right now. She does not deserve this, not her... not this girl who became her only friend. “It's gonna be OK...” she whispered to her. She wanted to believe what she said, but she knows it's not going to be OK. Not anymore. They both know that starting today, everything will change. She leaned over her, and then she cried with her...
--
Danson drove Kit home that afternoon. Along the way, Kit was not speaking. He knew she was not able to talk to Calvin, though she tried too many times to reach for him on his phone. Danson simply respected her silence. She knew she was mad at what Trixie did a while ago. “How could she lie?” he heard her say in a furious tone. Danson looked at her. “We both knew it was Hannah. How could she assume the identity of the paper crane girl?” “Maybe... maybe we're wrong...” Kit looked up at Danson. “We saw Hannah in front of Calvin's locker, but we never saw her put the paper crane... Calvin caught Trixie in the act. Maybe Trixie really is the paper crane girl after all.” he said in a low voice. “But I have this gut feel that it's Hannah. I know Trixie is lying.” she said. Danson shook his head. “I really don't know, Kit. It maybe Hannah, it maybe Trixie, it maybe another girl. For now, let's give Trixie the benefit of the doubt.” he said. Then, he looked up at her. “And whatever Calvin decides, we should accept it. If he wants to get together with Trixie, as his friends we should be happy for Calvin.” he continued. “Well, even if I don't like Trixie, I guess I have to learn to like her...” Kit said.
He gaze into her eyes, and he saw something wrong with her eyes. “Are you OK?” Danson asked. Kit gave him a confused look. “Your eyes...” he said. She looked at herself at the rear mirror, and saw her eyes were red. She looked at him and smiled. “I rubbed my eyes too much, I guess...” she said.
--
The next day was election day. Kit went to the headquarters of Calvin's party to talk to him. “I haven' seen Calvin today, he didn't even came for our meeting yesterday...” Joy said to Kit. “He didn't came today?” she asked again. Joy shook her head. “Nic and Aaron were looking for him. We tried calling him in his mobile, but e's not answering.” she explained. Kit let out a sigh. She was disappointed that she was not able to see Calvin today. She waited for him last night at his house, but he didn't came home, she guessed. “Where could he be?” she thought. “You guys didn't have a fight again?” she heard Joy asked. Kit smiled at her and shook her head. “No, we didn't...” she said. Joy smiled at her. “I thought the two of you had another fight. If you see him, please tell him to drop by. We'll be having a small celebration. You and Danson are also invited.” Joy said. Kit nodded her head. Then, she went on her and try to find her best friend.
She was walking through the lobby when she saw Danson walking towards her. “Hey, have you seen Calvin?” she asked. Danson shook his head. “I was looking for him as well... what happened to him?” he asked her. Kit sighed before answering his question. “I waited for him last night at his house, but it seemed that he didn't come home... and he's nowhere to be found here in the campus.” she explained. “Tried calling him on his mobile?” “He's not answering it. Joy and his co-candidates were also looking for him.” “I know he had to be here in school for the results of the election. Whatever happened to him?” “Well, I guess he's not here. I think he skipped school...”
Kit sighed again. Knowing Calvin, if he's confused or if he needs to clear his mind, he would go away as far as he could. “As far as he could....” she said in a low voice. Then, she realized something. She know where he could find that guy. If she's right, he's in his little sanctuary right at this moment. “Danson...” she called. Danson looked at her. “I think I know where Calvin is...” she said. Danson gave him a skeptical look. “You do?” he asked. Kit nodded her head. Then, she held his hand and pulled him. “Come on, let's go find Calvin!”
--
After taking a long walk, Calvin sat on a log, and then watched the sea as it's wave touches the shore. It has always been his habit that when he's stressed out or wanted to be alone to think, he would go to this beach. He wanted to clear his mind with confusion, and to reflect on his next actions and decision. Yes, he was surprised to find out that Trixie was his secret admirer. She was the last person he thought that would be able to do that, after all, she was too shallow. But the, when he found out that Trixie and the paper crane girl are one and the same, it's as if he saw the other side of her that no one have ever seen before. He have always thought that Trixie was insensitive, selfish and only thinks of herself. He never thought that she's capable of thinking others, and making others happy, especially him.
He wanted to believe that the paper crane girl is his soul mate. Through her notes, it's as if she could tell what he's feeling and what he's thinking. It's like she could feel what's in his heart, and could read what's on his mind. She always gives him encouragement, and he could feel her support and love even though he haven't see her. Whoever she is, he knew he have fallen in love with her even though he haven't met her.
But then, he caught Trixie in the act of putting paper crane on his locker. That moment, his vision of this mystery girl have faded. He thought she's a shy, sensitive girl like Hannah. He thought the mystery girl was Hannah. But he was wrong. The mystery girl is the girl he hated the most. But then, he have to accept that fact. Didn't he say that he would accept her whoever she is?
“Calvin Chen! You dork!” he heard someone shouted. He looked back and saw Kit and Danson walking towards him. Well then, that's the end of his long reflection. He stood up, and then smiled at his friends. “How did you find me?” he asked as soon as the two reached him. “Of course, I know everything about you, Calvin Chen. I know exactly where to find you!” Kit snapped at him Calvin just laughed at his best friend. He looked at her, and smiled at her lovingly. Was he ever glad that this girl, who claims to know everything about him, is his best friend. He could use her good advice at this point in time. “Kit insisted on coming here. I never thought it's a long drive going here...” Danson complained. “Aiyo, I know you could not resist Kit's charm...” Calvin teased. Danson just smiled, then looked at Kit. “If only I didn't love this girl, I wouldn't do this...” he thought. “Well, I guess you guys need to talk for a while. I'll go find something to drink and eat.” he said. Then, Danson left the two.
“Penny for your thought, Cal?” Kit said as they sat on the log. Calvin just smiled at her. “You really know when something's bothering me...” “Of course. I've known you all my life. I could never overlook the subtle hints you're giving. I know you're thinking of something...” “Well, I guess you're right. Something really is bothering and confusing me.” “It's about Trixie being your paper crane girl, right?”
Calvin slowly nodded his head, and then looked away from her, gazing back the the sea. “I still can't believe it's her..” he said. “Well, who would've expected that it's her after all.” she said. Calvin looked back at her again. “You told me that you found the paper crane girl. Was it really Trixie?” Kit shook her head. “Danson and I thought it was Hannah. But then again, we never caught her in the act of putting the paper crane in your locker. We just saw her standing in front of your locker, so we already assumed. But you, you caught Trixie red-handed, so I guess it's really Trixie...” she explained. Calvin nodded his head. “Yeah, I guess we could never deny the fact that it's Trixie...” “And you didn't want it to be Trixie?” “I wish it wasn't her... but she is. There's nothing I can do about it.” “So what are you going to do now?” “I don't know. I don't like her... but I guess she have this good side after all...”
Kit became silent. She looked away at him, and instead stared into the horizon. “So, you... you're going to like her?” she said. She could hear her voice crack as she speak. “Honestly, I thought she's a brat who only cares for herself. I never thought she could be sweet and nice and all...” “I guess all of us have other sides that we didn't want others to see. Like Trixie, she never wanted to show that romantic and sensitive side of hers.” Calvin nodded his head in agreement. “So, have you decided what to do next?” Kit asked. Calvin shook his head. “Let me remind what you said before, Cal. You said that whoever this girl is, you would accept her, even if she's the ugliest girl in the world. You said that what matters is what's inside her heart. You may not like Trixie at first, but she still deserved to be given a chance. And knowing how much she loves you, I know she won't hurt you like the other girls you dated before.” she said. “So, you think I should give her a chance?” he asked. Kit nodded her head. “Let her show you the side of her that she have never shown to anyone. Give her a space in your heart. She deserves it. I could understand the things she have done, after all she might have been hurt before because of your rejection, and this is the only way she could really prove to you that she loves you.” Kit said. “I... I guess you're right. I think she deserves a chance with me... after all she's the paper crane girl.” he said. Kit smiled and nodded her head. “That's right. So, let's go back to school so that the two of you could talk, OK?” she said. Calvin nodded his head, then the two headed to Danson's car.
--
Rina sat beside Trixie at their favorite spot at the cafeteria. She knew that her friend is feeling low because her plan backfired. “Girl, cheer up. At least you tried, right?” she said. Trixie just shook her head. “I tried every means to get Calvin. Why can't he give me a chance?” she asked. “Maybe you just have to accept the fact that the two of you are not meant to be. Just give your other admirers a chance, OK?” Trixie shook her head. “If I can't have Calvin, then I don't want anyone at all...”she said. Rina just sighed and shook her head. She knew that Trixie won't stop as long as she got what she wants.
Rina looked outside, and then he saw Calvin walking towards their spot. Not only that, he have a bouquet of roses with him. “Girl...” she said, tapping Trixie's shoulder. Trixie looked at her, then looked at Calvin's direction. She smiled to herself. “Well, I guess the plan didn't back fired after all...” she said. She stood up from her seat, and walked towards Calvin. “Can we talk?” Calvin asked her. She nodded her head. “Look, I'm sorry about the way I acted yesterday, and the days before. I must admit, I really didn't like you. But when I found out that you were my paper crane girl, I realized that you deserve a chance.” he said. “I'm happy by just loving you from afar, Calvin. As long as you're happy, I'm happy as well. I also sorry if I annoyed you before...” “Trixie, I realized that I should accept you. I realized that I should give you chance and a space in my heart....” Trixie was confused at what he was saying. She could feel her heart beating faster as he speaks. “What... what do you mean?” she stuttered. “Trixie...” he began. “I want to give us a try.” She was speechless when she heard what he said. Finally, her efforts were not put down the drain. After all the chasing she have done, this is the sweetest reward. “Trixie Yan, in front of everyone, I ask you... will you be my girlfriend?”

inis na ba kayo kay trixie? mas maiinis kayo sa kanya sa mga susunod na chapters up now, chapter 9 Chapter 9 – Green-eyed Monsters “Trixie Yan, in front of everyone, I ask you... will you be my girlfriend?” she heard Calvin say. She was too shocked by his proposal that all she could do was nod her head. Finally, after the long wait, she won Calvin's heart, even though she got him because of lying. Calvin smiled at her, his face moved closer to her. “Can I hear your answer, Trixie?” he asked. Trixie smiled sweetly at him. “Yes, I'm willing to be your girlfriend...” she said. Calvin moved closer to her, and embraced her. Inside his heart, he know he don't love her yet, but he knew he will learn to love her someday. For now, he's willing to take chances with her. He handed her the bouquet of flowers, he watched her as she looked and smelled at it, then she looked up at him. She reached up to him, and kissed him on the cheeks. Calvin embraced her tight, and she put her head on his shoulder. Meanwhile, Danson and Kit were watching them at the other side of the cafeteria. “Love, you really can't understand it...” Danson commented. Then, he looked at Kit. “Can you tell me what you said to Calvin to convince him to give Trixie a chance?” he asked. “I just reminded him of what he said before when he was still looking for the paper crane girl, that he would accept her no matter what.” she said. “Well, Calvin already got himself a girlfriend. Aren't you envy?” he asked. Kit gave him a confused look. “Envy?” “Well, Calvin's already in a relationship, and you're still single... you know...” “What is there to be envy about?” “I mean, Calvin would spend less time with you since he already got a girl. I think he'll want to get to know Trixie more...” Kit just shook her head. “I'm not envy. I'm not jealous either. I trust that he would not forget about me even if he got together with Trixie.” she said. “But... wouldn't you like to have a boyfriend as well, date guys, find the one, be in a relationship?” he asked, hinting about he's intention. Now that Calvin and Trixie are together, it would be much easier for him to court Kit. The, Kit looked at him and smiled. “I think you're right. It's about time for me to date guys. After all, I've spent way too much time with my best friend.” she said. Danson looked away from her, and smiled secretly. “So, if someone asks you out, you'll go out with that guy?” he asked shyly. Kit nodded her head. Danson was happy with her answer. “This is my chance...” he thought. Then, he turned to her again. “Will you go out with me?” Danson heard someone told Kit. He looked back, and saw Chun standing behind Kit. Kit looked at him, and gave him a surprised look. “C-Chun?” she stuttered. “Will you go out on a date with me, Kit?” he repeated. Danson sighed in dismay, he knew that Kit have always liked Chun, and she would most likely go out with him. The smiled on his face slowly faded, as he looked at her staring at Chun. “Are... are you really sure you want to go out with me, Chun?” she asked him. Chun nodded his head. Then, she looked at Danson, and held his hand. “I'm sorry, Chun... but I'm already dating Danson.” she said to him. Danson was surprised at what she said. He looked at Chun, and saw him smiling at him. “I understand.” Chun said to them. He smiled at Danson, and then looked at their clasped hands. Then, he turned to leave to the two. Danson looked at Kit, confused as to why Kit lied to Chun. “Wei, why didn't you accept him?” he asked her. Kit looked up at him and smiled faintly. “I know he's just doing that because he's hurt about Trixie and Calvin getting together. I don't want to be with someone who likes someone else. After all, he told me he's sorry that he can't love the way that I do love him.” she explained. He understood what she meant. After all, Kit deserves someone who could love her whole heartedly, like himself. “But, you'll really go out with me on a date?” he asked. Kit nodded her head again. “After all...” she said. “It's just a friendly date, right?” -- This was her greatest fear. The lies Trixie made lead to her heartache. She was there as Calvin proposed to her. She was there as she accepted him. She knew right from the start that Trixie won't stop until she gets what she wants. Seeing them together, breaks her heart. She should've been in Trixie's place right now, if only she had the courage to let Calvin know what she feels for him, but she wasn't brave enough to let him know that she loves him with all her heart. She closed her eyes, trying to keep her tears from falling. She can't let everyone around her see that she was affected with what Calvin did. She can't let this lie affect her, for she only knows the truth. She will always remain to be his paper crane, and she would continue to secretly love him. But for now, she have decided to stop for a while, not because she was hurt and in pain, but because she could see how happy he is now that he found his paper crane girl, Trixie, even though she know that everything is a lie. -- Kit saw at the other side of the cafeteria, and saw Hannah watching at the happy couple. Though she is far, she could see the sadness in her eyes. She wanted to run towards her, and comfort her, but as she stepped forward, she turned to leave. Though she does not say anything, she could feel that she was hurt with what had happened. Though she have not admitted it, she could tell that she is in love with Calvin. If only Trixie didn't came in the way, and if only she wasn't too late in calling her, then maybe Hannah could have her chance with Calvin. Maybe, Calvin would've proposed to her today. Maybe, she would've not seen the sadness in her eyes. -- “I could not believe just what happened, Trixie.” Ashley, Trixie's friend, told her as they were walking to their class. She knew that her friend is rejoicing because she is now Calvin's girlfriend. “Well, I guess luck is just at my side.” she said boastfully. Ashley just smiled at her. “But aren't you scared that your boyfriend would find out that you're just lying?” Trixie paused, then she gave her a smirk. “Calvin saw me putting that stupid paper crane at his locker. There's no way he'll 1think I'm a fake.” she said. Ashley just nodded her head in agreement. “But still you should be careful... you don't know how Calvin would react if he found that... you know.” she said, giving her a warning. Trixie just shook her head, and ignored her friend's warning. “No one will know, unless you guys spill out this little secret.” she said, then she looked at Ashley. “Unless you betray my trust.” Ashley shook her head, and Trixie could see the fear in her eyes. No one dares to betray Trixie, or else they would feel her wrath. After all, she came from a very influential and rich family, and she could do anything bad to them and their family with a snap of her finger. “O-of course not. We'll keep your secret, of course.” Ashley said. “So, now that you're dating Calvin, does that mean that you have to be in good terms with the BFF?” Ashley asked, referring to Kit. Trixie shook her head. “I will play my part of a goody-two-shoe girlfriend, but behind him, I'll make Kit pay for all the things she have done to me.” she told her. She have been planning this all this time to separate the two, and now that Calvin's her boyfriend, it's much easier for her. Ashley gave her a confused look. “What do you mean?” she asked. Trixie looked at her friend, and gave her a devilish smile. “I'll make sure she and my boyfriend would be on bad terms, and then, goodbye to Calvin's little BFF.” -- Jiro waited for Joy that afternoon at the school's parking lot. As he waited outside his car, he held on to his shell necklace and stared at it. Lately, his thoughts are filled with Tin, the one who gave him the necklace. Almost every night, he dreams of her, of meeting her again. It has been ten years now since he last saw her, he thought he would be able to see her again the next summer, but that didn't happen. She never came back, although they promised each other to meet. “Where are you, Tin?” he thought. He wanted to find her, but he doesn't have any clue about her to start. All he knows is that her name is Tin, and she have this beautiful almond eyes, and a warm smile. All he remembered is that great feeling when she hold his hand, and when she kissed him goodbye. He grew up, and he thought he would be able to forget her by dating other girls, but as the saying goes, first love never dies. When Joy came into his life, he thought he could finally forget all about Tin. After all, she and Tin have similarities, but still her memories haunt him. Joy, who was standing at a spot not too far from Jiro, watched him as he gazed into the shell necklace again. Her heart ache every time she sees Jiro holding on to it, because she knew that he's missing his first love. She could not even ask Jiro to throw that necklace away, because every time she does, they always end up fighting. That shell necklace means so much to him, she knows, because it was given to him by his first love. Sometimes, she wonder if he really loved her. She wondered if he loves her, and if it was her that's inside her heart. Jiro didn't know that she's already hurting simply because he can't let go. Her greatest rival for Jiro's love is a ghost of his past, and it's difficult to compete with someone that does not exist anymore. As she took a step towards him, she composed herself. She took a deep breath, and smiled as she walked towards her. “Jiro...” she called. Jiro looked back and saw her. He immediately put the necklace on his pocket. “Hey, honey!” he said, smiling at her. He put his arm around her, and kissed her on the lips. “I missed you...” he said. Joy just smiled at her boyfriend. “Is it really me that you miss, or is it Tin?” she thought. “I... I missed you too...” she said in a low voice. Jiro pulled her close to him, and hugged her tight. “Thank God, the campaign's over, I could spend more time with you...” he said. Then, he let her go, and looked down at her. “Can I ask my honey to go out on a date tonight?” he asked, giving her puppy eyes. Joy simply laughed at his facial expression. “I would love you go out on a date with you, Jiro...” she said. Jiro kissed her on the lips again. Then, he helped her get inside the car, and then they drove to they drove to their favorite restaurant. -- The next day is Saturday. Calvin went to Kit's house that morning, and found her sitting on the swing just outside the terrace. He saw that she was in her deep thought, and judging from the way she looks, it seems that something's worrying her. “Kit?” he called her. Kit looked at him and smiled. “Hey, Cal!” she said. Calvin walked towards her, and sat beside her. “I haven't seen you yesterday after we came back to school...” he began. “Actually, I decided to let you spend some time with your girlfriend, so I didn't show up myself to you...” “So you just hang out with Danson yesterday?” “Well, there's Hannah as well... we're becoming close recently...” Calvin nodded his head. “So, what brings Class Rep Chen here in my humble abode?” she asked. “Nah, I lost to Selina Ren. I guess it's good at least I could focus more to things that really matters...” Kit gave him a confused look. “Things that really matters? You mean Trixie?” she asked. Calvin smiled and nodded his head. “I want to get to know her more. I want to make this relationship work this time...” he said. Kit slowly looked away from him, but Calvin saw the sudden change in her expression. “Is there something wrong?” he asked her. Kit just shook her head. “Wei, Kit... I know everything about you. I could tell if something's bothering you or not. Speak up, OK?” he said. Kit looked up at him and forced a smile. “I'm OK, really...” she lied. “Liar, liar, pants on fire. I know if you're worrying about something or whatnot. You're not the only mind reader here...” he said. Kit just laughed at what he said. “Best friends really knows best...” she said. “Are you worrying about me getting together with Trixie?”he asked. She looked up at him, surprised at what he said. Surely, Calvin really knows what's in her mind. “How can you be such a mind reader?” she asked. Then, Calvin took her hand and put it on his chest. Calvin looked at her lovingly into her eyes. “I know. I can feel it. I can feel your heart.” he said. Kit felt her heart beating faster as he held her hand. Even with the way Calvin looked at her, it was different. She swallowed hard, as she felt meting in Calvin's gaze. She slowly removed her hand from his chest, and looked away from her. She heard Calvin snicker at her. “What? Did I get you at that, Katherine?” he said. Kit glared at him. “Not funny, Calvin!” she hissed at him. “Just tell me what's wrong, then maybe I could help you.” Kit took a deep breath, and decided to let Calvin know what she was thinking about. “I'm... I'm scared....” she began. Calvin looked at her, he could understand what she was scared of. “Scared of what?” he asked. “Well, now that you and Trixie are together...” “I know you don't like Trixie... but can you try to be a little nicer to her? After all, she's already my girlfriend...” “Of course I will be. I don't want to have conflicts with her and with you...” Calvin put his arm around her, and smiled at her. “I know you would.” he said. Kit smiled at him, and put her head on his shoulder. “And you don't have to be scared of losing me, Kit. Just think of it as gaining a girl best friend. No matter what happens, you will always comes first, because you are my best friend. And I would never, ever leave you. Nothing could separate us. Always remember that, OK?” he said to her. Kit looked up at him and smiled. She felt more secure with their friendship now that he assured that nothing's going to change between them. “I know...” she said to him. Then, Calvin pulled her closer to him and embraced her tight. -- “There goes your boyfriend with his BFF...” Rina whispered to Trixie. Trixie looked up, and he saw Calvin and Kit walking towards them. “Nothing ruins my mood but Kit.” she said. She rolled her eyes as she saw Kit laughing with Calvin. “Look at that pregnant dog flirting with my boyfriend. As if Calvin would fall for her!” she exclaimed. “You don't have to be jealous, Calvin's your boyfriend now...” Rina said. “Well, too bad for Kit. She will have to say goodbye to their friendship It's time to break them apart.” she said. She saw Calvin and Kit look at them, then, she smiled sweetly at them “Hey, Calvin, hey Kit...” she greeted. She kissed her boyfriend on the cheek, and then she smiled sweetly at Kit. “Hi Trixie, hope you don't mind me tagging along with you guys...” Kit said as she smiled at her. “Of course I don't mind. I want to hang out with you as well...” Trixie lied. Calvin smiled at her, then looked at Kit. “See, I told you she won't mind.” he said. Then, he turned to her girlfriend. “She wanted to be friends with you, but she's shy.” he said. Then, Trixie walked towards Kit, then hugged her. “Of course. I want to be friends with you... I want to be best friends with Calvin's BFF.” Trixie said. Then, Trixie turned to Rina and winked at her. “Hey, I gotta go. I'll see you guys tomorrow.” Rina said, then she left the three. “So, you want to hangout at the cafe? My treat...” Kit said. Calvin and Trixie nodded their heads. “Sounds like a plan. Let's go.” Calvin said. He put his arm around her girlfriend, and went on their way. As they were walking, Trixie glance at Kit and let out a devilish smile. “If only you knew what I'm planning for you...” she thought. “then you wouldn't want to be friends with me...”

eto na ata ang pinakamahabang chapter na naisulat ko... ay mali pinaka mahaba pala yung sa SLY... pero ito yung second na pinakamahaba... at ang drama nya naiyak ako habang sinusulat ko sya in all fairness to the viewing public hahaahahahahahaha up now, chapter 10!
Chapter 10 – Her Worst Nightmare
“I'll go get our orders.” Calvin said to the two girls. He stood up from his seat, and then went to the counter to get their food. Kit and Trixie were left on the table, awkward silence surrounding them. “Uhmmmm...” they both said, trying to start up a conversation. Kit doesn't know what to say to Trixie. She didn't know if whatever she says would interest her. She have to e really nice to Trixie, especially now that she's already Calvin's girlfriend. “So, how's things between you and Cal?” she finally managed to ask. Trixie just smiled at her. “We're doing OK. We just need more time with each other...” she said, hinting about something. Kit smiled and nodded her head. “I understand. Don't worry, I'll make sure he'll have a lot of time for you.” she said. Trixie just smiled at her. “Actually, I'm thinking if you could get out of our way...” she thought. “Trixie,” she heard Kit call. She looked at her, then she held her hand. “Thank you for loving my best friend. I hope you will take care of him, and not hurt him...” she said. “Don't worry about a thing, Kit. I'll take care of Calvin. I'll take care of him the way you do.” she said. Kit smiled upon hearing that. At least now, she's assured that Trixie would be there for Calvin now. She decided to give way to her, after all, she can't always be at Calvin's side all the time. “Thank you, Trixie...” she said. “Don't mention it....” Trixie answered. Then, Trixie looked at Calvin who was walking back to their seat with their food. Inside her mind, she was thinking of something else. “I will surely take care of him, especially after I make you leave him...”
--
Calvin drove Kit home that night. He stopped the engine of his car as soon as they reached her house. “Hey, thanks for the ride.” Kit said to him. “Don't mention it. As if I'm not always driving you home.” he said. Then, he smirked at her. “Ask your dad to buy you a car for your birthday, OK?” he said. Kit just laughed at him. “Ha ha. I knew you're already tired of driving me from school. Don't worry, starting tomorrow, I'll ask Danson to drive me to school.” she said. Calvin just smiled at his best friend. “If I hadn't known the two of you, I'd be thinking, something's going on between the two of you. You guys seems to be really close lately...” he said. Then, he looked at her, wrinkling his eyebrow. “Are you planning to make him your best friend now?” he asked. Kit simply laughed at him again. “Of course not!” “Or are you planning to make him your boyfriend?” “Definitely not. I only see him as a friend, and he's like just being too friendly...” Calvin smirked at her again and scratched his chin. “Being too friendly, huh? I don't think that's the case...” he said. “Of course, he's just being friendly...” she said defensively. “You like someone else, huh?” he asked. Kit blushed upon hearing his question. “I do...” she said in a low voice. Calvin's face lightened up as she answered. “Aha! Is this Chun? I heard he's already converted back to being a straight guy...” Kit shook her head. Calvin gave her a confused look. “There is someone else?” he asked. Kit nodded her head. “Is he someone I know?” he asked. He was surprised that his best friend is starting to like someone, and he didn't even know it. “No, you haven't met this guy...”she said. Then, she looked up at him. “Remember the little boy I've been telling you about? The one I saved at the beach?” she asked. “Oh, no! Not him! Kit, there is no way you'll ever see that Jay again. You didn't have any info about that guy. And besides, maybe he already have a girlfriend.” he said, feeling jealous about it. Kit smiled to herself. Sometimes, she wonder why Calvin would suddenly become jealous whenever she talks about Jay. Maybe it's because Calvin have been used to be her only guy best friend. “Maybe he's still single, and handsome...” she said. “You can date other guys except for that Jay guy. Not him. I don't like him...” “You haven't even met him yet! And besides, it's been ten years since we last saw each other... so don't be jealous about him already, OK?”
Calvin looked at her and smiled. He told himself a thousand times that if a day would come and someone would court Kit, that someone would have to face him first and pass to his standards. After all, the last person he wanted to see hurt is Kit. If one day, Jay would come back, well, it's a different story. He have been jealous of this Jay because he have always thought that he is Kit's other guy best friend. Selfish, yes, he is very selfish when it comes to his best friend. “I think you should start dating, Kit...” he said. “I have plans to. Right after my 19th birthday, I'll star accepting suitors...” she said. Then, he looked at her again. “Except for that Jay guy, OK?” he said. Kit couldn't help but laugh at his reaction about Jay. “OK, OK, except him. But promise me, on my birthday, you'll spend the entire day with me just like before...” she said. Calvin nodded his head. “Of course, I will...” he said. “I'll your 19th birthday with you, and your 20th, your 21st, until your 100th birthday, I'll spend it with you.” he promised. Kit smile and shook her head. “You don't need to spend every birthdays with me starting next year. You already have Trixie, and maybe next year I might already have a boyfriend. I'd rather spend it with him...” she said. “OK, I understand. By the way, where do you want to spend your birthday?” “You know the newly opened amusement part at the south? I want to go and see it...” “OK, it's a date.” Kit smiled at him. Then, she leaned over him, and kissed him on the cheek. “Thanks, Cal. I'll see you tomorrow, OK? Night.” she said. Then, she got out of the car. After Kit kissed him, Calvin was stunned. He felt something with her kiss... something that he's not suppose to feel for his best friend...
--
“Happy Birthday!” Danson shouted as soon as he saw Kit at the lobby. Kit looked at him, and smiled. “Thanks, Danson... but tomorrow's my birthday. Not today.” she said. Danson just smiled at her. “Nevertheless, it's your birthday week. Hey, I got you something...” he said. He reached for his bag, and took a gift box and handed it to Kit. Kit took it, and opened it. She saw a pink teddy bear inside. “Wow... this is cute!” she said. She looked up at Danson and smiled at him. “Thank you, Danson!” she said. Danson smiled back at her. “No problem.” he said. He put his arm around her, and they walked together through the lobby. “So, how will you be spending your birthday tomorrow? Are you going to throw a party?” he asked. Kit shook her head. “Whenever it's my birthday, I spend it with Calvin. We would go to somewhere where we've never been before.” she said. Danson was disappointed upon hearing her answer. “Oh...” he said. He was planning to ask her out on her birthday, and maybe confess his lover for her. “Why do you ask?” “So you and Calvin will be out the whole day?” “I think we'll be back by late afternoon... we'll just be going at the amusement park tomorrow.”
Danson smiled upon hearing that. “Here's my chance...” he thought. Then, he turned to her. “Kit, will you go out on a dinner with me?” he asked. Kit gave him a confused look. “Dinner? I'll be having dinner with my family tomorrow night...” she said. “After the dinner? Let's go out. My treat. I just want to tell you something tomorrow...” he insisted. Kit shrugged, and smiled at him. “OK. I'll go out with you after our family dinner.” she said. Danson was very happy, and his heart felt like it's fluttering. “Thanks, Kit. I promise. I'll make tomorrow night your best birthday ever!” he said as he hugged her tight.
--
Trixie and her friends (Rina and Ashley) were seating at the bleachers, watching Calvin's soccer practice. Trixie was waiting for Calvin so that they could go home together. “Hey, I heard it's the BFF's birthday tomorrow.” Ashley told Trixie. “Oh really?” Trixie said, not taking her eyes off . Ashley nodded her head. “And I heard Calvin and Kit already have plans for tomorrow. I think they're going out tomorrow...” she continued. Then, Trixie looked at Ashley. “Uh-oh, the BFF got one point again...” Rina said. Trixie was a little annoyed with that. Why didn't Calvin told him that he have plans for tomorrow? “I need to think of a plan...” she said. Then, something hit her. She let out a smile, and then looked at her friends. “I think I got it covered...” she said to them. “Too bad, the BFF will have to spend her birthday alone...”
--
After his soccer practice, Calvin met up with Trixie at the parking lot. “Good thing you already came...” she said as soon as he saw him walking towards her. Calvin smiled at her, and then gave her a kiss on the cheek. “Something wrong?” he asked. “Grandma and grandpa wants me to look after their rest house at the north. They want me to go there now...” she said to him. “OK, I'll drive you home -” “But I have to get there by 9. They'll be calling me from there, to see if I really came there.” Calvin gave his girlfriend a confused look. “It's already 7 PM.” he said, looking at his watch. “Do you think you could still make it? Can't they call you at your mobile?” he asked. Trixie shook her head. “They want me there tonight. Can you drive me?” she asked in a sweet tone. “But, baby, I don't have extra clothes with me, and I have to tell my parents first.” he excused. “Don't worry, I have told you folks about it and they're cool with it...” “They are?” “Of course. I told them you'll be with me, so they said yes right away.” “You don't understand. I need to meet up with Kit tomorrow -” “We'll be back tomorrow morning. I promise.”
Calvin just sighed. He couldn't resist his girlfriend after all. “OK. I'll go with you there. Just promise me we'll head home tomorrow morning, OK?” he said. Trixie nodded her head. Then, she hugged him and kissed him on the lips. “Thank you baby! You're the best boyfriend in the whole wide world!”
--
“I'll see you at the park entrance tomorrow morning. I'm spending the night at Trixie's place.” Kit read Calvin's text message again that night. When she received that, she felt nervous and scared. She just have this gut feeling that her birthday tomorrow will not go as planned.
--
“We're the only people here?” Calvin said as they entered the rest house. Trixie nodded her head. She didn't bother turning the lights on. “Will your grandparents mind if I spend the night here with you?” Calvin asked nervously. Trixie shook her head. “They won't mind...” she whispered to his ear. Trixie's breath brought shiver to his body. He knew where this would all end up to. “O-OK...” he said. Trixie was amused with his nervous expression. “You're so cute... being nervous and all...” she said. Calvin blushed. He swallowed hard, hoping it would ease the nervousness he is feeling. “Nice place.” he said as he looked around the house. “So, how many rooms do we have here?” he asked, diverting to another topic. “Oh, we have around five rooms here...” Trixie said. Calvin sighed with relied upon hearing that. At least he won't have to sleep with Trixie in one room, because he's scared he might do something to her. “But I only got the key to the masters bedroom. The other rooms are locked.” she said. This time, Calvin felt really nervous. “Owwkeeey... so we'll be sleeping on the same room?” he asked. Trixie smiled seductively at her, and then leaned to him again. “Actually, we'll be sleeping on the same bed.” she whispered to him. Then, she held her hand, and lead him to the room. “Come on, let's take a little rest...” she said seductively. “I'll give you a massage after that long drive...”
--
The next day, Kit woke up early, had breakfast with her family, and prepared for her date with Calvin. She wore her pink dress, which made her look more prettier. Then, she headed to the amusement park. Patiently, she waited for Calvin outside. Two hours have already passed, and still no sign of him. She tried calling him on his mobile, but he was out of reach. He called his home, but his mom told him that he's not home yet. She have sent him numerous messages, but he have not replied to those messages. She still patiently waited for him, another two hours have passed. Then, suddenly is became dark. The rain started to fall from the sky. From a little drizzle, it began to rain cats and dogs. Kit found a shelter in a tree near the entrance, but she was still soaked. Still, she decided to wait for Calvin, still hoping he will not stood her up.
It was already afternoon, and Kit finally realized that Calvin would not be coming. He have broken his promise. It seems Calvin have forgotten all about it because of Trixie. Maybe, he's happy in the arms of Trixie right now. While he feels warm in the arms of his girlfriend, here she is, soaked, cold, and drenched in the rain. As she walked home, she felt the tears running down her cheeks. Good thing it's still raining, because no one could see her crying. She knew she should be ready for this. She knew should not be feeling hurt, but today is her birthday for Pete's sake. She never thought that Calvin would forget this day. She never thought that Calvin would rather spend this day with his girlfriend than with his best friend. “How could you do this to me? How could you forget your promise?” she thought. If Calvin was able to forget this day, it's not impossible that he would eventually forget her and their friendship. It's not impossible that he will take her for granted, and she will become the least of his priorities. Most of all, it's not impossible that she will eventually lose him. Right before her eyes, she's losing him, and there's nothing else that she could do. He is happy now with his paper crane girl, and it seems that his happiness now means that she's not part of it.
--
“Good afternoon, Mrs. Chen.” Danson greeted as soon as Calvin's mother opened the door. “Oh, hi, Danson. Come in.” Danson entered the house. “Auntie Chen, is Calvin around?” he asked. “Oh, he hasn't came back since last night...” Mrs. Chen said. Danson was surprised at what his mother said. “Since last night?” “Yes. I think he and his girlfriend went north. I was trying to call him to remind him of Kit's birthday, but I couldn't reach him.” “Calvin hasn't called since last night?” Mrs. Chen nodded his head. “I don't know where he's been. I'm getting a little worried now with that boy...” Mrs. Chen said. Danson suddenly became worried as well. He wondered whatever happened to Kit. Good thing, Kit's family is the Chen's next door neighbor, so he said goodbye Calvin's mom and headed to Kit's house.
“Hi, Uncle Jin, is Kit home?” Danson asked as soon as Kit's dad opened the door. “She went to the amusement park with Calvin. He said he'll be meeting her there...” Mr. Jin said. This confused Danson even more. “But... Calvin didn't came home last night according to Auntie Chen...” he said. This made Kit's father worried. “What? Then where could Kit be? It's raining hard and she didn't even brought an umbrella with her!” Mr. Jin said. Danson gave Kit's dad an assuring smile. “Don't worry, Uncle Jin. I'll find her. I'll call you as soon as I saw her.” he said. Mr. Jin smiled at Danson. “Please do. Bring her home soon, her new car is waiting for her.”
--
It was still raining when Danson reached the amusement park. He looked around, searching for Kit, but the whole place seems empty. “Where is she?” he thought. He reached for his mobile phone, and dialed Calvin's phone. He was out of reach. Then, he dialed Kit's number. It was just ringing, and Kit's not answering it. “Kit, where are you?” he thought. He's already worried about her. If he only knew that Calvin would just stood her up, he should've accompanied her today. He could sense that Kit is hurt because Calvin forgot his promise and stood her up. He wanted to find her soon She might be lost and scared, for he knows Kit's scared of thunder. He wanted to embrace her and tell her everything is all right, he wanted to tell her his just here and he's willing to be Calvin's substitute. He just wanted to hug her, and assure her that he will never ever leave him, not the way her best friend did today.
He reached for his mobile phone again and began to call Jiro. He will definitely need help in finding her. “Hello, Jiro? It's me, Danson... I need a big favor... can you help me find Kit? She's missing...” he said. “OK, I'm on my way. I'll call you as soon as I see her...” he heard Jiro said. After Jiro hang up, he called Chun. He also asked him to help him look for Kit. Then, he called Hannah, asked her if Kit called her a while ago. “I was trying to call her to greet her a happy birthday... but she's not answering her phone.” Hannah said. “I see... Kit's gone missing. Hannah, if she calls you, please let me know...” he said. He threw his phone on the dashboard and drove away. Where else could he fin Kit at this very moment?
--
Calvin slowly opened his eyes. He looked outside the window, and saw it was cloudy outside. He looked beside her, and he saw Trixie sleeping peacefully in his arms, both of them, naked. He smiled as he brushed her hair, and kissed her on the forehead. Last night, he finally realized how much he love this girl. They spent the entire evening making love to each other, and for him, last night is the most memorable night in his entire life.
Carefully, he moved and reached for his phone. As he reached it, he was surprised to see that it was turned off. “I thought I left this on last night?” he thought. He turned his phone on, and he was surprised that it was already 2 in the afternoon. “Oh nuts!” he thought. He was supposed to meet Kit at the amusement park at 10 AM. Suddenly, his phone beeped. Kit have sent several messages to him. He opened her messages and read it.
“Hey, I'm on my way. Don't be late.” “Cal, I'm here at the entrance. I'll wait for you. Text me if you're on your way.” “Bought us tickets already. Let me know if you're already here.” “Cal, where are you? Still waiting for you here.” “Cal, I'm trying to call you, but I can't reach you. Where are you? Text me if you're coming or not.” “Calvin Chen, don't test my patience on you. Where the hell are you?!” “Calvin, where are you? It's already raining, and I'm still waiting for you. Can you at least let me know if you're coming or not?” “Cal, still waiting. I'm drenched here. I'll make you pay as soon as you get here.” “Cal, please, let me know if you're coming. I felt like a fool here, waiting for nothing...” “I guess you have forgotten my birthday. Thank you for not showing up.” “I can't believe you stood me up, Calvin Chen!” “I guess you have forgotten me after all... its the first time you broke your promise, and it hurts a lot, Cal. I thought you promised that you would not forget me, and I would still be your priority no matter what... guess I was a fool to believe you...”
Calvin felt guilty upon reading her messages, especially the last one. Since they were kids, they're used to spending their birthdays together, and this is Kit's first birthday that he was not there. Suddenly, his phone rang. Danson's name flashed on the screen. He immediately answered the call. “Hello?” “Calvin, where are you?” “I... I'm still with Trixie. We're here at their rest house...” “Don't tell me you have forgotten Kit's birthday?” Calvin wasn't able to answer his question. He heard Danson sigh at the other line. “Kit must've been waiting for you for a long time at the amusement park. It's raining hard here, and she's not yet home!” Danson said in a worried tone. “She... she's not home?” Calvin asked. “Yes, she's not yet home and she's gone missing, not a very nice person!” Danson shouted at him. Calvin could tell that Danson is furious at him. “Look, we're already looking for her. Jiro, Chun, Joy and Hannah are already helping me. Now, maybe you can do your part as her best friend and find her as well.” “O-OK. I'm on my way...” “And one more thing...” Danson said. “Remember this, if you do this again in the future, I will never forgive you, Calvin Chen.” After saying that, Danson hang up the phone.
Calvin was stunned after that call. His best friend is missing, and he can't even do anything about it. He looked outside, and saw that its starting to rain. Calvin could here the thunder from outside. “She's lost, and she might be scared...” he thought. After a while, Trixie woke up. “Hey, baby...” she said groggily. He just looked at Trixie. “Anything wrong?” she asked. “I... We need to go home now. Kit's missing...” he said. Then, he stood up from the bed and put on his clothes.
--
Kit was walking through the park. This was the park where she and Calvin used to go to when they were kids. She looked at the swing, and then she remembered the first time they saw each other. When they first met, she was being bullied by some boys. One of them took her lollipop, and the other pulled her pig tails. Calvin came to her rescue and fought those bullies. Since then, they became friends, and Calvin promised that he will always stay by her side to protect her. Now, it seems that his promise have been forgotten.
She continued to walk. She felt cold, for she have been drenched in the rain the whole time. There was nothing left to do but to go home and celebrate her birthday without him. As she was about to cross the street, she suddenly felt dizzy, It seems that the whole place was in a turn table. Everything turned blurred, as if everything was fading before her eyes. The last thing she saw was a flash of light, before she lost her consciousness.
--
Jiro stopped his car as soon as he saw Kit cross the street. He was about to get out of his car, when he saw her fell on the ground. “Kit!” he shouted. He immediately run towards her and carried her. He could feel her body trembling. “Calvin...” he heard her say. He cupped her chin, and tried to wake her up. “Kit... wake up...” he said. No matter how hard he tried to wake her, she just didn't. “Maybe she was tired waiting for Calvin.” he thought. He immediately took her inside his car, and then, he called Danson. “Hello, Danson. I found her. I saw her by the park. She was drenched in the rain, and trembling... I think she's running a fever. I'll send her home now, OK? I'll see you at her house.” he said. Then he ended the call. “Calvin... don't leave me...” he heard her say again. Jiro shook his head. “She must be dreaming.” he thought. Then, as he started the engine of his car, he heard her say something again. “Jay...”
He looked back at her. He felt his heart beating faster. Jay was his secret nickname when he was a kid, and it seems that Kit just called him. “Could she be... could she be Tin?” he thought. His mind were suddenly filled with that memory from that summer when he met her. It seems that he have found Tin all this time, but he have never acknowledged her presence. He was waiting for her to call Jay again, but then, he heard her call Calvin's name all over again. Jiro just shook his head, and then sighed with relief. “I must've mistaken her call... it's still Calvin that she's calling.” he thought. Then, he began to drive her home.
--
Danson ended the call and went to the living room, where Kit's family, as well as Hannah and Joy, were waiting. “They found her.” he said. He saw her mom and dad sighed with relief. “Thank God...” Mr. Jin said. “At least Jie Jie could eat the cake I baked!” her little sister, Annie, said. “Who found her?” Joy asked Danson. “Jiro did. He saw her at the park.” he said. Joy smiled at him, then he looked at Hannah and smiled at her as well. “Well, I think you guys should all stay for dinner. Let's have this little party for Kit, OK?” Mr. Jin said. Then, Mrs. Jin stood up from her seat. “I think I'll call the Chens as well and invite them. Calvin must be home already.” she said. Then, she went to the kitchen to call their next door neighbor.
Hannah saw the anger in Danson's eyes upon hearing Calvin's name. He's really mad at him for standing up on Kit. She stood up, and put her arm on his shoulder. “Hey, just be cool with it. Calvin's still Kit's best friend, OK? He must have his reasons why he didn't came...” he said. Danson looked at her, and nodded his head.
Just then, Jiro came inside, carrying Kit in his arms. “Kit!” Hannah and Joy both shouted as soon as Jiro came in. She was sleeping like a child, and she was trembling. Mrs. Jin immediately came. “I found her at the park. She was too drenched, I think she's running a fever...” Jiro said. Danson came to him and tool Kit in his arm. “Auntie Jin, where's Kit's room?” he asked. “Follow me...” she said. Then, all of they went up to her room.
--
Kit slowly opened her eyes, to find her family and friends inside her room. “Happy Birthday!” they all shouted. Kit sat up on her bed and smiled at them. “Thank you, guys...” she said. Then, the tears can't help but fall from her eyes. Calvin's not here, but here are her family and close friends, celebrating her birthday with her. “You had us worried today...” Danson said to her. “I'm sorry...” she said in a low voice. Danson shook his head and smiled at her. “Not your fault. It's Calvin's fault.” he said.
“Well,” they heard Chun said. “Now that the celebrant is awake, can we already have a taste of Mrs. Jin's ever famous dishes?” Jiro glared at him and smacker him on the head. “Can't you think of anything else other than food?” he asked. Mr. and Mrs. Jin just laughed at the two. “Honey, are you OK now?” Mr. Jin asked Kit. Kit nodded her head. “I'm OK. Let's go downstairs and start the party.” she said as she stood up from her bed.
--
Her friends have already left after having dinner. Kit and Danson went outside the house to watch the four (Chun, Jiro, Joy and Hannah) leave. After they left, Danson faced Kit. “So how was your birthday?” he asked. Kit tried to smile at him, but she just couldn't. “It's not a happy birthday after all...” she said in a low voice. “It's the first time that Calvin's not here to celebrate with me... I guess I have to get used to it...” she continued. Then she looked up at him. “It still hurts, you know...” she said. Danson could see the tears forming at the corner of her eyes. He held her hand to comfort her. “Kit...” he said.
Like broken strings Disappearing amongst the crowd My eyes have finally lost Your face
“I... I wish I could do something for you...” Danson said in a low voice. Kit smiled and nodded her head. “There's one thing that you can do, Danson...” she said. Danson looked at her. “You can let me cry on your shoulder...” she said. Danson nodded her head. “You can always cry on me...” he said. Then, Kit put her head on his shoulder and began to cry. Danson felt his heart breaking as he hear her soft sob. If only he could take away the pain she was feeling right now, he would do it, but the only thing he could do for her is be her friend and comfort her.
Just wait a moment more Desperately hoping for a shooting star to come If wishes do really come true
Calvin was holding a paper bag and a bouquet of peach roses, which is Kit's favorite flower. He was hoping he could still make it up to her. He knows when she's mad at him, she would not face him, but he's still hoping he could see her tonight to give her gift, and to greet her. He's ready to face Kit's wrath, after all, it was his fault that he stood her up.
He stood before their gate. As he looked up, the smile on his face disappeared. He saw Kit by the door and she was not alone. He saw her in Danson's arm.
Can love be forever Tomorrow may come too late But the yesterday that we have walked together Is distancing further and further away
Danson put his arm around Kit. The pain that Kit is feeling now, he's feeling as well. He couldn't stand seeing the girl a love being hurt, and it hurts him as much as it hurts her. “You can always share your pain with me, Kit...” he whispered to her. Then, he leaned to her, and softly planted a kiss on her forehead. “I will never hurt you... I will never be like Calvin. I will never ever leave your side...” he said. Then, he continued listening to her soft sob.
Tears from Polaris An unspeakable longing I've finally realized we live in two different worlds
He have always wanted the feeling of being wanted and needed. He have always played the knight in shining armor in Kit's life. He have always been the one that she turns to when she wanted to cry, when she is hurt, when she is in pain. He didnt know why, but Calvin suddenly felt jealous at the sight of her in Danson's arm. He have always been her dependable best friend, the one who have always been there for her, but on this special day, he have let Kit down.
Calvin lowered his head. He turned around to leave, finally admitting defeat. Danson has always been around Kit, and even though Danson would not say it, he's aware that he have secretly loved Kit. He could never take care of her, not anymore. Maybe Danson is more suited to be her best friend than him, or even more suited to be her boyfriend. Kit have always been there for him, have always helped him, but he have not anything that made her happy, not even on her boyfriend.
He took a step, then he looked back at the two. That moment, he realized, he's not suited to be her best friend anymore. Someone else is willing to take care of Kit. Someone have already taken his place...
Tears from PolarisYour red swollen eyes after crying A soaked promise Drowning inside my heart I raise my head and find that love is gone

Chapter 11 – Pushed Away
Calvin gathered up his courage, and decided to face Kit the next day. He took the roses and his gift for her, and then he headed to her house. He found her going out of the gate, and heading to her new car. “Kit...” he called her. Kit looked up and saw him walking towards her. “Oh, it's you...” she said monotonously. He could see that Kit was not too happy to see him. “Belated happy birthday...” he said, smiling at her. Kit just nodded her head. “I... I brought you this.” he said as he handed her the flowers and his gift. Kit just stared at his gift, then looked up at him. “Just leave it inside. I'll check it out later.” she said.
She opened the door of her car, and put her bag inside. “Kit, I'm really sorry about yesterday. I really am...” he said. “Oh, it's OK, Cal. I understand.” she said. She slammed the door of her car and faced him. “It's not like everyday that my best friend forgets the most important occasion in my life, and at the same stood me up, making me look like a fool.” she said in a sarcastic tone. Calvin could only lower his head, for he felt guilty. “I think I should get used to it. Anyway, I can see you're really happy with Trixie now, and she's your priority. I can accept if I became the second best, but I can never accept if my I will be taken for granted.” she continued. Calvin looked up at her, and he saw the anger in her eyes. She have every right to be mad at him. After all, he broke his promise of spending her birthday with her. “Please don't do this, Kit. Please don't stay mad at me. I'll make it up to you...” he said. Kit just sighed. She was trying her best to be hard on him, but seeing how affected he is just melts her heart. “You know very well I can't stay mad at you...” she said. Upon hearing that, Calvin's face lightened up. “But...” she continued. “Give me time to calm down. I can't forgive you that easily...” she said. “Well, how about forgiving me now?” he insisted. Kit just shook her head. “You know me, Cal. I need to vent out my anger on you on something else before I forgive you...” she said. Then, Calvin looked at her car. “New car, eh... how about we ride this car, let's go for a drive. You can vent your anger at me by driving fast. I won't say anything. Besides, you promised me that if you got a new car, I'll be the first guy to ride with you.” he said. Kit shook her head again. “Sorry, Cal. Not now.” she said.
Just then, Danson arrived. As Kit saw him, Calvin saw her face lighten up. “You're late.” Kit said to him. Danson smiled at her. “Sorry, I need to run some errands before going here. Are you ready?” he asked. Kit just nodded her head. Then, Danson opened the door of her car, and got inside. “Wait!” Calvin told Kit. “You promised me, when you got a new car I'll be the first guy to ride with you?” he told her. Kit looked at him and smirked. “Maybe I can break promises too, Calvin.” she said. Then, Kit got inside the driver's seat, and started the engine. Calvin could only watch them as they leave.
--
Inside Kit's car...
“Are you really sure you wanted to stay away from Calvin?” Danson asked Kit. Kit looked at him, not knowing what to answer him. Last night, she have decided to stay away from Calvin as much as possible, but seeing Calvin that day made her more confused. “I don't know if I can...” she said in a low voice. “We've been together for years. We were inseparable. I... I don't think I can just throw years of friendship just like that. But, I think it would be for the best.” she continued. Kit looked up at Danson and smiled. “Maybe he have his reasons. Maybe you should hear him out...” Danson said. “Whatever the reason is, he could not deny the fact that he have already hurt me. I believed him, Danson. I believed every word he said but then...”
Kit lowered her head. She could already feel her tears falling again. She doesn't want to cry, not anymore. There is no reason for her to cry. Danson looked at her, and then held her hand. “If he was able to forget the little things about me, the most important things... it's not possible that he would totally forget about us. It's not possible that he could take me for granted, and I don't want that... I don't want to settle for that...” Then, Kit looked up at Danson. “I have this gut feel... and I'm not liking it. I don't want to think that Trixie will be the reason for our friendship to be ruined...” she said. “Then don't think of it. Nothing wrong could happen between you and Calvin. You guys have been together for years, and nothing or no one could ever ruin your friendship.” he assured her. Kit squeezed his hand, and smiled at him. “Why are you so good at this?” “Good at what?” “Good at making me feel better?” Danson just smiled at her. “I just don't want to see you sad. I promised myself that I will give you reasons to smile...” he said. “Because... you never knew how I fell in love with you the first time I saw you smile at me...” he added in his thoughts. “Thank you....” Kit said. “Thank you for always being there for me. Thank you for making me happy. Thank you for always listening to me.” she said. “Anything for you. You know, I'm always willing to be Calvin's substitute...” he said. Kit laughed at what he said. “I don't think you can be Cal's substitute...” she said. Danson gave her a confused look. “You are a perfect friend, Danson. Too perfect, you can almost be like my boyfriend.” she said. Upon hearing that, Danson smiled to himself. He could not believe that Kit thinks that he could be her boyfriend, and all he have to do is make a move. Maybe he have a chance with Kit after all.
--
It was already evening and Calvin patiently waited for Kit outside their house. They have to talk. He just have to explain himself to Kit, and Kit have to hear him out. He doesn't like it if Kit's mad, especially if he is the reason why she is mad. After a while, her car parked in front of him. Calvin stood up at Kit and Danson got out of the car. Kit was surprised to see Calvin waiting for him. “You're still here?” she asked him. “Kit, we need to talk...” Calvin said to her. Kit shook her head. “Not now, Cal. I'm tired. I'll see you tomorrow at school, and then we'll talk.” she said. Then, she turned to Danson and said goodbye before walking inside their house.
Danson saw the disappointment on Calvin's face when Kit turned her back on him. “Honestly, she's mad. And scared. And worried.” he said to Calvin. Calvin looked at him, confused at what he was saying. “She's mad that you forgot her birthday. She's scared that because of this little thing, you'll soon forget all about your friendship. She's worried that you would take her for granted.” Danson explained. Calvin shook his head. “That will never happen...” he said. Danson gave him a skeptical look. “Will never happen? I think it just did. Yesterday, to be exact.” he said. Danson walked towards him, and then put his hand on his shoulder. “Look. I'm not asking you to spend most of your free time with her, or make it up to her. Just don't do this anymore. Don't hurt her anymore... I cant bear to see her cry again.” he said to him. Calvin looked him into his eyes. He was not surprised at the concern that Danson is showing towards Kit He could feel that Danson have been looking Kit at a different light. Maybe it's time for him to confront him about his true feelings for his friend. “Tell me the truth.” Calvin said. “You're doing this... you're concerned about how she feels. You don't want to see her hurt. Are you in love with my best friend?” Calvin asked. Danson looked at him for the long time. He was caught off-guard with his question, but then it's about time for him to tell Calvin the truth. “Yes. I am truly in love with Kit. And there's nothing I wouldn't do to protect her from all the pain in the world...” he said. “Even if you are the one who causes her that pain.”
Then, Danson turned his back on him, and left Calvin. Calvin was left stunned with Danson's confession. If there is one thing that he fears for in his life, it's when he would meet someone who would do everything to take his place in Kit's life. Someone who's more than willing to protect her, to make her happy, and someone who's willing to be depended on by Kit. Sadly, that person eventually turned out to be Danson. Slowly, Danson is taking his part in his best friend's life, all because of one mistake and one broken promise.
--
Trixie and Calvin were walking to their class, and she noticed the Calvin was silent. It's like her boyfriend is in deep thoughts. “Anything wrong, baby?” she asked. Calvin looked at her, and shook his head. “I'm OK...” he said. “No, you're not. I can feel something's bothering you. You can always tell me whatever it is.” she said. Calvin paused, and then he turned to face her. “It's Kit... she's still mad at me...” he began. Trixie gave him a confused look. “Mad? But why?” “It was her birthday last Saturday, and I promised to go with her at the amusement park. I was not able to go because we both woke up late.”
Trixie looked away at Calvin and smiled at her. “One point for me...” she thought. Her plans are working, definitely. It won't be long before Kit would stay away from Calvin. Then, she looked at Calvin again, giving him a fake worried look. “Oh, baby... why didn't you tell me it was Kit's birthday last Saturday? Then, maybe we shouldn't have gone to our rest house...” she said. Calvin just smiled at her and shook his head. “It's OK, baby. We were too engrossed with each other that we didn't notice the time. What's weird though, is that I thought I left my phone on and alarmed it... but it didn't...” he said. Trixie just smiled. The truth is, she turned his phone off intentionally so that nobody could disturb them, especially Kit. “Maybe you turned it off while we were... you know...” she said. Calvin suddenly remembered what they did that night, and then he blushed. Trixie how he turned red, and laughed at him. “Hey, no need to be shy about it. It was the best thing that happened to me.” she said. Calvin put his arm around her, and hugged her. “Well, it was mine as well. That night, I proved to myself that I really love you....” he said. “Do you want me to talk to Kit and explain everything to her? So that she won't stay mad at you?” she said, looking up at him. Calvin just shook his head. “Don't worry about it, she'll come around...”
--
At one corner, she saw them. She saw how happy Calvin is in Trixie's arm. She saw the love in his eyes as he looked at her She saw how happy Trixie is for having his heart. Her heart is breaking again at that sight. She was supposed to be in Trixie's place. She was supposed to be in Calvin's arm right now. She should be the one whom he would be lovingly look at, not Trixie.
Until now, she can't believe that Calvin would eventually learn to love someone like Trixie. If only he knew that Trixie lied to him, then this would not be the case. If only she had the courage to let him know what she feels, then she could be as happy as Trixie... but she's not brave enough to tell him that she loves her. She turned away, unable to take the sight of the happy couple. She clutched the paper crane in her hand, and then dropped it on the floor. There is no use for this now... Calvin thought he have found the real paper crane girl, and she would just let him believe that. But then, if Trixie's lies would worsen everything, then she have no choice but start leaving the paper cranes again for Calvin...
--
As Jiro passed that corner at the hallway, something caught his attention. It was a small, blue paper crane lying on the floor He bent down to pick it up, and then he stared at it. “Paper crane?” he thought. He turned to his side, and saw Calvin and Trixie happily chatting. Then, he looked back, and saw a figure walking towards the music room. He had a haunch that the paper crane is for Calvin. He knew that Trixie is his paper crane girl, but if she is, why would she throw this one and not give it to him? Then, it hit him. Maybe, just maybe, Trixie's not the paper crane girl after all.
--
“We don't have a practice today.” Danson told Kit as he ran towards him. They were at the soccer field that afternoon, and Kit passed by the soccer field to tell him that she'll go home. There's no need for Danson to drive her home, since she bought her car with her. “Then, that's great! We can hang out for a while...” she said. Danson smiled and nodded his head. “Let's go for a drive in that new car of yours. Good thing I didn't brought my car with me.” he said. Kit just laughed at his friend. “I'm tired of driving...” she said, hinting Danson to drive for her. Danson was able to get what she was trying to say. “Give me your keys, I'll drive.” he said. Then, Kit leaped to him, and hugged her. “Thanks, Danson! You're the best!” she said as he hugged him.
They drove around the vicinity for a bit, and when they were tired and hungry, the two headed to the cafe. As they got inside, they saw Calvin and Trixie at one corner. Danson heard Kit sigh upon seeing them, then, he saw her turning to leave. Before she could reach the door, Danson was able to held her hand to stop her. “Come on, Kit. You can't stay away from Calvin forever!” he said. Then, Kit looked up at him. “I don't know if I could face him...” “It's going to be OK.” “He knows I'm still mad at him...” “Then walk up to him, and tell him that you forgive him.” “Do you think he will forgive me for being mad at him?” Danson laughed at her question. “Why would he be mad at you just because you got mad at him. You have every reason, but you still have to remember that he's still your best friend, OK?” he said. Then, he pinched her nose, and smiled at him. “Come on, let's go and say hi to them?” he said. Then, he held Kit's arm as he pulled her to Calvin and Trixie's table.
Kti found herself standing in front of Calvin and Trixie. That moment, she suddenly felt shy to face Calvin. Danson could feel her hesitation, so he held her hand, and squeezed it. Kit looked at him, and smile, then he turned to Calvin. “Hi, Calvin...” she said. Calvin and Trixie looked up at her. Calvin smiled at her and stood up from his seat. Then, he gave her a hug. As Calvin embraced her, she let go of Danson's hand. Danson could only look at the two as they hugged. He suddenly felt jealous at that sight, and though he knew he have no right to be jealous at Calvin, he just couldn't help it.
“I missed you...” Calvin said to Kit, still hugging her. Then, Kit broke free from his hug and gave him a confused look. “Hey, it's not as if I wasn't speaking for you for a long time, Cal. It's just for two days!” she said. Calvin smiled at her. “40 hours, to be exact, Kit.” he said. “I'm really sorry about your birthday...” he said in a low voice. Kit just nodded her head. “Let's forget it, OK? I forgive you... and besides, Danson was there to keep me company that day...” then he looked at Danson and smiled. At him. Calvin looked at Danson, and then he felt jealous once again. He know he should not be feeling jealous at him, but with his confession last night, he couldn't help but be jealous.
“Aiyo, stop the drama already...” they heard Trixie said. She stood up from her seat and then went to Calvins side. “We'll make it up to you, Kit. After all, it was my fault why Calvin was not able to be with you on your birthday. My treat.” she said to her. “Thanks, Trixie...” Kit said. Trixie faked a sweet smile at her. “Anything for my boyfriend's BFF.”
--
While the boys were getting their food at the counter, Kit and Trixie were left at the table. There was an awkward silence between them. Even though they hang out once, Kit still didn't know what to say to Calvin's girlfriend. “Let me tell you something, Kit.” she heard Trixie said. Kit looked at her, and she saw hr smirk at her. “I don't like you.” Kit could not understand what she was trying to say. “What do you mean?” Kit asked. “I'm just being nice to you because you're Calvin's BFF... but I don't like you, and I don't like it when you hang out with my boyfriend.” Trixie said. Kit just sighed. She knew it before that Trixie doesn't like her. During the days when Trixie was chasing Calvin, and Calvin was pushing Trixie away, Kit was there to make sure that Trixie wont get near to Calvin. “Well, I guess you can't please anyone...” Kit said to her. Then, she smiled at her. “I can't force you to like me...” she continued. “Yes of course, you really can't force me to like you because I really don't.” Trixie said. Then, she leaned to her seat and crossed her arm, giving Kit dagger looks. “Stay away from Calvin. I don't ever want to see you near my boyfriend...” “You can't make me stay away from him. We've been together since kids.” “Oh, I can make you stay away from him. Believe me...”
Then, Trixie gave Kit a devilish smile. “If you won't stay away from Calvin, then I'll do everything to ruin your friendship...” she said. Kit could not believer what she said. She felt the vein coming out of her forehead with what she have heard. “Are you threatening me?” Kit asked her. Trixie smiled and shook her head. “Nah-ah... I'm just stating facts, Kit. You don't know what I'm capable of doing.”
--
“Have you told her?” Calvin asked Danson as they were waiting for their turn at the counter. “Told her what?” Danson asked. “Told her what you feel....” Danson looked at him and shook his head. Cslvin gave him a confused look. “Why? If you like her then tell her how you feel...” “It's not that easy, Cal. Kit treats me as a friend... and though I can see some light, I'm hesitating because...” “Because of what?” Danson looked up at him and stared him into his eyes. “I can feel there is someone else... someone that she loves for a long time now...” he said. Calvin shook his head, and smiled. “Well, there is... but I don't think it's that guy. Besides, it's been ten years since she last saw him.” he said. “If you like her, then tell her how you feel. You might regret it if you wouldn't, and besides, I would be happy if you become Kit s boyfriend.” Calvin said. Danson just looked up at him and gave him a faint smile. “But... what if the one she likes is someone she could never love?” he added silently.
--
Kit drove Danson home that night, and along the way, Danson noticed how silent she is, and the gloomy expression in her face. “Are you OK?” he asked. Kit just nodded her head, but Danson could feel she's lying. “You've been silent since we left the cafe. Actually, you've been silent since Cal and I came back. Tell me what's wrong...” he asked again. Kit looked at him, hesitating if she should tell him what Trixie have told her a while ago or not. “Did something happened between you and Trixie?” he asked again. Kit just sighed and nodded her head. “She said something to me. I don't know if I should just let it pass, or tell Cal, or just ignore it..” “What did she say?” “She asked me to stay away from Calvin...”
Danson was surprised at what she said. “Trixie said that?” Kit nodded her head. “But... but why?” “She didn't like me at all, Danson. Maybe she thinks I'm getting between them. I don't know what I should do now...” she said. Danson looked at her, and then held her hand. “I think you should let Calvin know about this, so that he could talk to Tixie... besides, I don't think Calvin would like you to do it. You're his best friend, remember?” he said. He wished he could take away all the worries in her heart. “I don't know, Danson. She said she could do that, she's threatening me. I'm not sure what if she will do every means so that I could avoid Cal...” she said. Danson smiled as he squeezed her hand. “Just let him know. He'll listen to you, don't worry. He trusts you, right?” Kit nodded her head. Then, she smiled at him. “Thank you for making me feel better Danson.”
