Chapter 56 – Forgive and Forget
She sat at one corer of this small cell. She was not expecting anyone to come for her, after all, it has been a week. After learning what she have done, her family have disowned her. The people she thought were her friends have kept their distance from her, afraid to be tagged as a murderer's friend. There was the man who loves her, who kept on visiting her, but every time he comes, she shoos him away. It has been days, but she have not seen even his shadow. Maybe he got tired of her. Maybe, he realized she's not worth his time and his love.
“Yan, you have a visitor.” she heard the police said. She stood up from her corner, and he saw him – Mike. “What are you doing here?” she asked monotonously. “I... I came for you... to check on you...”
“You don't really have to do that, Mike. You turned me in to the police after what I have done, and I hate you for that. I don't even want to see your face.”
Mike closed his eyes, and sighed in dismay. He thought that if he hadn't shown himself to Trixie for days, she will soon learn to forgive her. He only did what he thought was right, and that is to tell the truth, but Trixie could not understand him for that. “Trixie...” he said. “What you did... you know that you have to pay for what you have done to Kit...” he said in a low voice. “I am not at fault.” Trixie said as she folded her arms. “It wasn't my fault that she blocked her beloved best friend, and took the bullet from him. It should be Calvin who should die, not her! And besides... she didn't die, didn't she?” Mike nodded his head. Trixie stared at him for a long time. Then, tears began to fall from her eyes. “It's all Calvin's fault! It's their fault. It's your fault! If Calvin could only love me, I shouldn't have resorted to this... if you didn't turn me in, maybe my family and friends wouldn't disown me! I am all alone now, Mike! I'm all alone... you don't how it feels to be left behind by all the people you love because of one stupid mistake. You don't know how I'm suffering now. My family left me... my friends left me... and you are siding with them.” she shouted at him.
Mike just looked at her as she cried. “I never left you, Trixie...” he said. “I only did what is right. If... If I can only exchange my place with you, then I'll do it. I can't bear to see you like this...” he said in a low voice. Trixie wiped the tear from her face, and then stared into his eyes again. “Go...” she said in a firm voice. She pointed at the door not far behind him. “Leave me. I don't need you, and I don't ever want to see your face again.” she said. Mike sighed, and then turned his back to leave. Seems to him that Trixie will never understand. She have closed herself in after that incident. Trixie watched Mike as he leaves. She went back to her usual corner, and then began to sob.

He carefully folded the paper, and as soon as he have made the paper crane, he put it inside the jar. He paused, and looked at the girl lying on the bed. He leaned over her, and gave her a kiss on the forehead. Two weeks have passed, and Kit's condition have stabilized. During those critical days, there was times that Kit have almost died, but the doctors were able to save her. Calvin was scared, that he could only cry as they watched the doctors resuscitate her. But now, he knows that Kit will survive, and he will wait for her until the day she wakes up. From the ICU, Kit was transferred to a private room, but still, a lot of machines were connected to her. It's a good start, he always thought. Slowly, Kit will recover and one day she wouldn't need those machines to help her live.
He stared at her sleeping face, and smiled to himself. “When you wake up, I will still love you...” he whispered to her. He gently brushed her head, and kissed her on the cheek. “I'm waiting for you, Kit... I hope you will wake up soon. I want us to be together...” he said. Just then, he heard someone enter the room. “Cal?” he heard Chun call. He stood up, and saw Chun coming up to him. “Big problem...” Chun said. Calvin gave him a confused look. “What?” he asked. “Hannah will be coming how in a week's time, and I don't think she have an idea of what happened to Kit...” Chun said. “Wei, didn't I tell you guys to let her know? And besides, why is she coming home all of a sudden?”
“Their troop, or whatever you call it, would be performing in some fancy place for a month, that's why she'll be coming home.”
“Fine, she'll come home and then she would know what happened to her friend. I told you to tell her, right, Chun?”
Chun gave out an idiotic smile. “I didn't have the heart to tell her. Remember how sensitive she is... besides... she might lose her focus if she learned that Kit got shot in the head and almost died. So... I asked Joy to tell her...” Chun said. Just then, Joy and Jiro came. They heard the last thing Chun said. “Tell who what?” Joy asked. She placed the bag of food on the table, and came up to Chun. “I told you to tell Hannah what happened to Kit. She'll be coming home in a weeks time.” he said. Like Chun, Joy smiled guiltily at them. “I... I didn't have the heart to tell her. And besides, she might not be able to perform well if she found out that Kit was almost killed by Trixie.” she said. Calvin sighed and shook his head. “So, who's going to tell Hannah now?” he asked. “I asked Jiro to tell her.” Joy said. Jiro was surprised to hear his name. “Me?” he asked her. Joy smiled and shook her head. Jiro looked up at Calvin, and smiled guiltily. “I don't -” Calvin put up his hands to stop him from saying anything. “Let me guess. 'I don't have the heart to tell Hannah what happened to Kit. If she found out that Kit's in a coma, she will definitely cry and lose her focus.' Am I right?” he asked. Jiro smiled and nodded his head. “Correct. And so, I asked Danson to tell her.” Jiro said. Chun looked at Jiro, bewildered by what he said. “Y-you told Danson to tell Hannah?” he asked. Jiro nodded his head. Chun began to panic, and then he put his hands on his shoulder and shook Jiro. “Jiro! What have you done! Why did you ask Danson to tell Hannah!” he asked. Jiro gave him a confused look, then took his hands away from him. “Wei, what's wrong if Danson and Hannah talk. They're close, right?” he asked. “Because Danson is not supposed to talk to Hannah! It will ruin her surprise to him!” Chun shouted at Jiro. “What surprise?” he asked. “Hannah will be coming home in a week's time to surprise Danson... OK? She was avoiding any contacts with that guy to surprise him.” Chun said.
Then, they heard the door open. Chun stood frozen in his place when he saw Danson get inside the room. “I'm here...” Danson said as he walked towards them. He noticed that everyone fell silent when he arrived. “Anything wrong? Did I miss anything?” he asked the four. “Uh, Dannie boy...” Jiro began. “By any chance, were you able to talk to Hannah about what happened to Kit?” Danson shook his head. “How can I talk to her, she's not always at her dorm. She's not even returning my calls. I'm getting worried about her.” he said. Chun sighed with relief upon hearing his answer. “Thank God...” he thought.
Danson walked towards Kit's bed, and then took a look at her. “How is she?” he asked Calvin. Calvin smiled at him as their eyes met. “Stable as usual. They injected her usual medication just a while ago. I guess we don't have anything to worry about for today.” Calvin said. Danson smiled and nodded his head. “By the way, someone I know wants to pay her a visit. She's also Kit's friend, but he's scared that if you see him, you might beat the hell out of him.” Danson said. Calvin gave him a confused look. “Who?” he asked. “Let me guess, Mike He?” Chun asked. Danson nodded his head. “Why? Was he guilty because of what happened to Kit?” Joy snapped at Danson as she folded her arms. “Joy...” Danson said as he looked at her. “It was Mike who warned me about what Trixie is about to do to Calvin. Maybe we were too late, but he did his best. And besides, he also became Kit's friend.” Danson said. “It was also Mike who turned Trixie in. I know that guy is in love with her, but he chose to do the right thing.” Chun said. “He can go and visit Kit. I really don't mind.” he said. He turned his attention at Kit again, and then checked her dextrose. “And one more thing, Cal...” Danson said. Calvin looked at him. “He wanted to talk to you. About something.”

“Calvin, can we talk?” Joy said as they went outside of the room. Calvin gave her a confused look. “We are already talking.” he said. Joy shook her head. “I have to talk to you about something, Calvin...” she said. “Can this wait?” he asked. Joy shook her head. “I really don't have time to deal with this, Joy. I have a lot of errands to do for Auntie Jin. I hope you understand...” Calvin said. Then he turned his back and left her standing by the hallway. Joy lowered her head as Calvin left. Behind her, the door opened, and Jiro was watching her. “Joy?” he called. Joy looked back at him. “Is there something wrong?” he asked. Joy let out a faint smile and shook her head. “I'm OK, Jiro...” she said. Jiro folded his arm, and looked closely at her. “I don't think so. I know when you're lying, and when you're OK.” he said. Joy sighed, and then took a seat. Jiro sat beside her. “I don't know... I just wanted to talk to Calvin about us...” she said in a low voice. “Is there something wrong?” Jiro asked. Joy looked at him and nodded her head. “Jiro, it's clear to me that he is in love with Kit. I've heard him say it several times, and though it breaks my heart... I have to let him go.” he said. “So... you want to talk to him to break it off with him?” Jiro asked. Joy nodded her head. “It's about time, Jiro. We never really our closure. I don't know... it just ended just like that. I know there are people that I have hurt during our relationship, maybe it be intentionally or not. I know in some ways, when I got together with Calvin. I have hurt Kit because I took Calvin away from her. I have hurt you, because I did not believe in what you promised me. I've hurt Celestine, because she have always loved you, and I gave her false hopes. I've hurt Calvin because...”
Joy paused, and then looked up at Jiro. “Because all this time, I still love you...” she wanted to say. She stared at Jiro for a long time, wanting to say those words. But she couldn't for she knows it not yet the time for him to let him know what she feels inside. “You've hurt Calvin because...” Jiro asked. “B-because I tried to hurt Kit.” she lied. Jiro smiled at her, and then shook his head. “All of us made mistakes, Joy. I know I did. We did hurt a lot of people, we' hurt a lot of hearts. All that matters is we ask for forgiveness, and keep our words of not doing it again. If you think that breaking it off with Calvin would take away the guilt that you are feeling, then do it. I felt unburdened when I let Kit go, after all, I can't force her to love me back. I know what's inside her heart, and though she have first loved me, I know it will always be Calvin. I accepted that fact, and at least we saved our friendship.” he said. Joy smiled at him. “At least you got your closure...” she said. Jiro nodded his head. “It hurts, yes. It may be hard for a while, but eventually, you're gonna find the good in goodbye. I still believe everything happens for a reason.” he said.
Joy smiled at him, and then looked away from Jiro. “So, does that me that you and Celestine will get back together?” she asked. Jiro let out a nervous laugh and shook his head. “No way... our story have ended a long time ago. No need to bring up the past.” he said. Jiro looked at her, and saw the smile slowly disappearing from her face. “If there's one person I want to be back with... it would be you...” he thought. “So, you're saying you're ready to begin a new story with another girl?” she asked. Jiro nodded his head. “I'm ready whatever tomorrow brings.” he said. He smiled at her, and stared at her face. “I'm ready to begin a new story with you...” he said silently to her.

Calvin sat outside Kit's room, waiting. After a while, Mike came out of the room. “Hey...” he said. Calvin looked up at him, and let out a faint smile. “Hey you...” he said. Mike took a seat beside him. “Heard you're the one who's been staying by Kit's side all this time...” he said. Calvin nodded his head. “Heard you chose to turn Trixie in...” he said. Mike smiled and nodded his head. “Aren't you going to ask how she is?” Mike asked. “All I know is that she's rotting in that jail.” he said. Mike looked away from him, and sighed. He could not blame Calvin for being furious at Trixie, after all, she almost took Calvin's life and Kit's life. “I know what she did in unforgivable - in the eyes of the law and in the eyes of God. But I was still hoping you would be able to forgive Trixie after all the things she have done.” Mike said. Calvin shook his head. “I don't know, Mike... when I almost lost Kit, I know I will never forgive Trixie for what she have done. I could never give her the love she have wanted, but God knows I loved her before in the only way I know. Kit is my life now... and taking her away from me is like taking away the air that I breathe. If Trixie killed Kit, she have successfully killed me as well.” Calvin said. “I understand that...” Mike said.
He looked at Calvin, and then patted his shoulder. He stood up from his seat. “I have to go now, Calvin. Do take care of Kit.” he said. Calvin smiled at him and nodded his head. As he turned his back to leave, he paused. He turned to face him again. “I know this is hard, Calvin. I... I just want you to know... Trixie have been suffering for all the wrong things she have done. I have no right to ask you this, but please do visit her in jail. Talk to her... I know she have a lot of things to say to you. I know that she's regretting what she have done. Just talk to her... please...” he said. Then, he turned to leave him. Calvin stood up from his seat, and then went inside the room. He walked towards Kit's bed, and pulled a chair beside her. He stared at her face for a while, and then brushed his cheek. “Should I talk to Trixie?” he said in a low voice. Then, he took her hand, and placed it on his cheek. “She is the reason why you've became like this, Kit. If it wasn't for her, you should have known by now that I love you. We should have been happy together... maybe by now were on a date. If you are awake now, I will take you to our favorite place. I would have prepared a picnic by the beach, under the stars... maybe, by now, you're listening to me as I sing you your favorite song... but Trixie ruined everything for us. Now, you're there, sleeping forever, while here I am, waiting for you to wake up from your beautiful dream...” he said. Then, he smiled. “Silly me... I was thinking you are sleeping beauty, and you're just waiting for my kiss so that you'll wake up. I know it only happens in fairy tales... but it's worth a try...”
Then, Calvin leaned over her, and kissed Kit on her lips. “I'm thinking too much, I'm sorry Kit. It's just that... It's just that I missed you so much. I was hoping by some miracle, you would be able to wake up... I was hoping you would open those pretty eyes of yours, and smile at me, just like before.” he said to her. He felt a tear fall from his eyes. He wiped it, and then smiled faintly at her. “I love you, Kit. I love you so much... I miss you... sweet dreams...” he said. Then, he turned the lights off, and left the room. As soon as Calvin left, Kit slightly opened her eyes, but closed it again for her to slumber again. Her fingers slowly moved, and a tear fell from her eyes.

Joy was on her way to the hospital, when she passed by a flower shop. She smiled to herself as she looked at the flowers inside the shop. She found herself inside the shop, looking for a perfect flower to give to Kit. “I wonder what flowers she likes?” she asked herself. “Peach roses. Calvin told me she likes peach roses.” she heard someone say. She looked back, and saw Jiro standing behind her. She was startled to see him. “W-what... why are you here?” she asked. Jiro just laughed at her. “Did I scare you? I saw you on your way to the hospital, then you came inside this shop, so I followed you.” he said. Joy gave him a smile. “I had this thought of giving Kit flowers. Not that Calvin is not giving her any flowers...”
“Well, peach roses will do. She loves them.”
“I think I'll go get some for Kit, if you say that she likes them.”
Joy bought the flowers, and she and Jiro went on their way to the hospital. As they entered the room, they heard Calvin talking with Kit's father. “Tomorrow will be the hearing for Kit's case. Do you think you would be able to come?” They heard Mr. Jin asked. Joy took a peek, and saw Calvin nodded his head. “I... I can't face her yet. I don't know what I could do to her if I see her... but I have to... she have to pay for what she have done to Kit.” he said. “Then, you have to ready yourself. Tonight, Chun will be the one who'll look after Kit.”
“But what if she wakes up? I want to be the first person she'll see if she wakes up...”
“You heard what the doctor said before. She's still in a coma, and I don't think she'll wake up anytime soon.”
Calvin looked at Kit, and brushed away the hair from her face. “I hope she'll have her justice. I hope Trixie will rot in jail for the rest of her life...” he said. “She will. Your statement would put her in jail for a lifetime.” Mr. Jin said.
They saw Mr. Jin stood up from his seat. He went by the door, and as he saw Joy and Jiro, he smiled at them. Thank you for being here for my daughter.” he said. The two smiled at the elder man, and watched him as he left the room. “So, tomorrow's the first hearing of the case, huh?” Jiro said as he approached Calvin. Calvin looked up at him, and nodded his head. “Are you ready for tomorrow?” Joy asked as he placed the flowers on the vase beside Kit. “I guess so. I just don't know how I would react if I see her.” Calvin said. “You're still angry at her, huh?” Jiro said. “How can I not be angry at her. Look at what she did to Kit...” he said. Jiro looked at Kit, and then he sighed. “If Kit is awake, you know what she will ask you?” he said. Calvin just stared at him blankly. “If she is awake, she will tell you to forgive Trixie for what she have done. Even though Trixie did hurt Kit several times, in the end she have learned to forgive her... so that the two of them could move on. I know Kit have forgiven her, do you think it's about time the you let this go?” Jiro said. “She still have to pay for what she have done...” Calvin said. Joy nodded her head in agreement. “Yes, she still have. But after she did her time for the crime she made, you should forgive her in the end. Calvin, you can't always carry that grudge in your heart forever. Anger is what tore us all apart... it almost ruined our friendship. Jiro is right, you have to learn to let this go, and forgive her somehow.” Joy said. Calvin looked at her friends, and shook his head. “No...” he said in a firm tone. “I can never forgive Trixie.”

Trixie entered the court room, and she was led by the police at the left table in front of the judge. As she walked, she saw Calvin glaring at her in anger. She lowered her head to avoid his eyes. As she looked up, she saw Mike sitting at the bench right behind them. She walked over the chair, and took her seat. After a while, the judge came out. “All rise.” they heard the secretary say. Everyone stood up. The judge asked everyone to take their seat, while she any their lawyers remained standing. The secretary read her case, and after she's through, the judge looked at her. “Trixie Yan, how do you plead?” the judge asked. She looked at the judge for a long time, and then she closed her eyes. “Guilty.” she said.
Calvin looked around him, and saw everyone murmuring about Trixie. He never expected that Trixie would plead guilty. He looked up at her, and he saw the regret in her face. She did not looked as fabulous as before, as she only wore an old oversized shirt and baggy pants, and her face looked older. She have these black marks below her eyes, and he could tell that she's tired and was not able to sleep well the night before. “If Kit is awake, she would forgive Trixie for what she have done. I think it's about time that you let this go...” he remembered Jiro told him the day before. As he looked at her, he realized that Jiro is right. Trixie have been paying for the crime she have done. He bets her conscience wouldn't let her sleep at night. Somehow, he pitied Trixie. “I guess...” he thought. “I guess it's about time that I talk to Trixie.”

“Mike...” Calvin called as he walked outside the courtroom. As soon as the court hearing ended, he immediately rushed up to Mike. Mike paused, and looked at him. “Hey, Calvin.” he said. “Trixie... what happened to her?” he asked. “ After the crime, Mr. Yan disowned her. He didn't even dared to bail out Trixie... the lawyer she have now, it's my dads lawyer. I asked him to take her case.” he explained. Calvin could not believe what Mike told him. “Her dad disowned her?” he asked. Mike nodded his head. “She's all alone now, Calvin. She made a big mistake, and she's paying for it. I tried to be with her, but she always pushes me away. That's why I asked you to talk to her... just talk to her, Calvin. I'm not asking you to ask Kit's parents to drop the case or even forgive her, or take pity at her. She have a lot of things to say than those things she'll be saying inside the courtroom.” Mike said. Calvin was silent, and just looked at Mike. “I...” he said. “I will. I will talk to her.”

The next day, Calvin paid Trixie a visit at the jail. He was waiting for her at the waiting room, when finally, she came. She was handcuffed, and was escorted by two policewomen. “Yan, this is your visitor.” the policewoman said to her. Trixie was surprised to see Calvin. “Calvin...” she said in a low voice. Calvin stood up from his seat, and gave him a faint smile. “Hey...” he said. She walked towards Calvin, and then took a seat in front of him. “I did not expect you to be here. I... I know you're mad at me for... for almost killing Kit.” she said. Calvin remained silent, and just stared at her. Trixie could feel the tears starting to fall from her eyes. “I am mad, all right...” she heard him say. Trixie reached out for his hand, and held it. “I'm sorry...” she said as she began to sob. “I'm sorry... for everything... for trying to hurt you. I didn't mean to shoot Kit, Calvin... I didn't mean to...”
“That bullet was meant for me, but Kit chose to save me. You almost killed her, Trixie. I almost lost the girl I love...”
Trixie lowered her head as she listened to him speak. She felt even more guilty because of what he was saying. “She almost died that day, but she held on. She's fighting for her life now. She's just lying back there at the hospital, at her bed, almost lifeless... as if she's sleeping forever. We still don't know what will happen to her the moment she wakes up, and I know we still have to expect the worst. I don't know why you hated me so much, that you wanted to kill me... I can't understand. So, make me understand. Make me understand why Kit have to sacrifice her life for me...” he said. She looked up at him, and saw the anger in his eyes. If only his looks could kill, she could have died at that instant. “I'm so sorry... it's just that... I... I can't accept the fact that you could no longer love me. I thought it would be better if I kill you, so that no one could ever own you but me. I'm so sorry if I became too selfish... I only did those things because I love you so much...” she said. “If you love me, you wouldn't hurt the people I love...”
“I didn't mean to shot Kit. I swear...”
“If you really love me, Trixie... you will let me go and let me be happy with the one I truly love.”
Calvin lowered his head, and took his hand away from her. “Many times, you have hurt Kit. When the two of you fought, I sided with you, thinking she was the one who started the fight. I kept my distance from her to make you happy, and so not to make any more conflicts between the two of you. You hurt her when you lied to me about being the paper crane girl. You hurt her, even put her in danger by asking Mike to rape her. You hurt her when you cheated on me. You not only hurt her, but you also hurt me, Trixie. Many times, she have forgiven you silently for all the things you ave done. With what you have done -”
“I know... Kit could never forgive me...” Trixie said. She looked up at him, and saw him shook his head. “She have forgiven you, I know.” he said. “Kit has always been like that. She easily forgives, and easily forgets the wrong thing you have done to her. She believes everyone deserves a second chance. She gave you another chance before, when she forgave you for hating her.” Calvin said. This time, Calvin reached for her hand, and held it. “I hate you for what you have done, Trixie. But seeing you now, I know you have suffered for your crime. Like Kit, I should forgive you for everything. I don't want to carry any grudge in my heart... and besides, you will son have your punishment. That's enough for me. I forgive you, Trixie. I do...” he said.
Trixie's tears cascaded endlessly upon hearing his forgiveness. “Thank you, Calvin... thank you... you don't know how much this means to me...” she said as she cried. Calvin smiled at her. “It's enough for me that you admitted your mistake, that you pleaded guilty. You have paid for what you did, and you're continuing to suffer from it. This is the least thing I could do to unburden you, Trixie.” he said. Then, he stood up from his seat. As he turned to leave, Trixie called on him. “Calvin...” she said. Calvin paused and looked back at her. “Thank you for everything.” she said. Calvin just smiled at her, and nodded his head.

She sat at one corner of her cell. That night, she still could not sleep. Lately, she have been having nightmares about that night – the night she almost killed Kit. Her conscience has been bothering her, and although she have repented for her sins, she could feel that it wasn't enough. Calvin have forgiven her for her mistake, but she could not forgive herself for what she have done. “This should end...” she thought. She stood up from her corner, and then walked towards the table. She saw a glass on top of it. She took it, and broke it into pieces. She took the biggest piece of the shard, and then stared at it. “I'm sorry for everything...” she whispered. She closed her eyes as she placed the sharp side of the glass shard on her wrist. “Goodbye...” she whispered. With all her strength, she cut herself until she felt the soft velvety liquid ran through her arms. She opened her eyes, and then slowly fell on the ground. She looked at her wrist, and watched as the blood flowed out of her vein. She smiled to herself as her memories flashes back to her like a movie. “I hope you could forgive me for what I have done...” she whispered. She laid herself on the floor, and as she closed her eyes, she fell into a deep slumber, never to wake up ever again.

Calvin entered the hospital room, and found his friends inside. All of them where silent, not daring to say any word. “Why are you guys silent?” he asked. He walked over Kit's bed, and placed the peach roses on the table beside her. Chun looked at Danson, and Danson sighed as he looked away from him. Calvin looked at Danson, confused with the way he is acting. “Is there anything wrong?” he asked. Joy stood up from her seat and walked towards Calvin, and put her hand on his shoulder. “Calvin... Mike came here a while ago...” she began. Calvin looked at her, and saw the sadness in her eyes. “Mike? What happened?” he asked. “He came to give us a news... a very bad news...” Jiro said. Calvin looked at them with more confusion. He have no idea what's going on with them. “Why are you guys like that? Why are you all sad? Why are you all sulking, and what the hell is that bad news that Mike told you?” he asked in frustration.
Everyone fell silent again, and looked away from him. “What?” he asked again. “Calvin...” Danson said. “Mike... he came here to say that... Trixie... she... she's dead.” Calvin could not believe what he heard. He felt as if someone threw cold water at his back. He shivered at that thought, and he became pale. “Trixie?” he asked. All of them nodded their head. “She could not bear the guilt that she is feeling for what she have done to Kit.” Chun said. “So, she decided to take her own life...”

Chapter 57 – Another Chance
Everyone deserves a second chance...

“Calvin, can we talk?” Joy said as soon as the people at the cemetery have left. She walked towards him, following him to his car. It was the day of Trixie's burial, and everyone from their batch have gone to say goodbye to their classmate, including Calvin, Jiro, Danson, Chun and Joy. Calvin paused, and then looked at Joy. “I guess, eventually we really have to talk. What is it about, Joy?” Calvin asked as he turned to face her. Joy closed her eyes, and took a deep breath. As she opened her eyes, she looked into Calvin's face. “About us...” she finally said. He felt his heart beating faster upon hearing what she said. “W-what about us?”
“Calvin, I know how Kit means to you. I am not blind to see that you love her. You are in love with your best friend, and it was also one of the reasons why I got mad at Kit. Because she loves you, and I could feel that you love her too...”
“I did love you, Joy...”
“I know, Calvin. Those past four months that we were together, it's one of the happiest days of my life. But from what I am seeing, all of us are hurting each other...”
Joy paused, and then moved closer to him. “I admit... we did start at the wrong foot. When I answered you, I was not really over Jiro. I still have that little hope inside my heart, that one day he will come back for me. But then you entered my life, in your little ways, you helped me move on and forget the past, and I've fallen in love with you. You made me happy, Calvin... I know I have loved you, but I have not loved you entirely because of my love for Jiro. When I found out that he found Tin, and Tin was Kit all along, I was hurt. Despite that fact, I acted normally, making all of you believe that I'm OK with it, although I know I am not. I did that because I was scared to hurt you... and because I did love you and I know you love me. Everyone seems to leave me, and I was scared to be alone. You were all I ever got, Calvin...” she said. She paused again, and wiped the tear that was about to fall from her eye. “All my life, all I ever wanted is for someone to love me. I thought it was Jiro who could do that, but he failed me. I put all my hopes in you, because I know you have liked me from the start. I thought I won't have to compete with anyone for your love, but when Kit got shot, I realized the she always had your heart...” she continued. Calvin lowered his head, feeling guilty with what Joy have said. He admits the he got confused between Joy and Kit. He knew he have always loved Joy, his dream girl, but at the same time, his feelings for Kit suddenly all came back. He have successfully forgotten his feelings for his best friend before, but when Jiro came into the picture, he became even more jealous, more possessive of Kit. The mere thought of losing Kit forever was slowly killing him. “I admit... I have fallen in love with Kit... even before I met you, Joy... but our promise... I still have to consider it. I was scared that if Kit found out, she would end our friendship. I was more than willing to break my promise to her, but then I met you. You came, and you changed everything. I fell in love with you at first sight, and since that first day I saw, I have loved you.” he said. Joy nodded her head. “She was everything to you. I can see that. That day at the hospital, I've seen the sadness in your eyes when we almost lost her. What hurts the most is I've heard you say that you love her. That day, I realized that... that I have to do what I should do... even if it hurts me...”
Joy walked up to him, and gave him a hug. She hugged her for a long time, and when she let go, she reached up to him, and kissed him on the cheek. “I want you to be happy, Calvin. I want you and Kit to be happy. You two have been circling for quite some time, and it's about time that you two get together. If your happiness means I have to let you go, then I'm letting you go...” she said in a low voice. Calvin was surprised at what she said. “Joy...” he said in a low voice. “I should have done this a long time ago, but when I tried to talk to you, you seem to avoid me. I just want to have my closure, just as how Jiro got his closure with Kit. I don't want this relationship to end in the same way that Jiro and I ended our relationship. I don't want to leave any bitterness in my heart, that's why I have forced myself to accept the reality. I accept that no matter what happens, it will always be Kit that you will love. I don't want you to feel guilty for breaking my heart, that's why I choosing to let you go. I'm making this easier for you, Calvin...” she said. Calvin smiled at her, and then he took her hands and looked into her eyes. “Thank you, Joy. Thank you for giving me my freedom... thank you for giving this chance for me and Kit...” he said. Joy smiled and nodded her head. “Promise me one thing, Calvin. When Kit wakes up, you have to tell her that you love her. Please don't waste this sacrifice that I am making now. Promise me that you will love her with all your heart.” she said. Calvin smiled and nodded his head. “I will, Joy.” he said. “I will...”

Calvin entered the room, and walked towards Kit's bed. He placed a solitary peach rose by the side table, then he leaned towards her, and kissed for on her forehead. He sat beside her on her bed, and then held her hand. “Kit...” he called. He smiled as he looked at her. He brushed the hair from her face, and stared into her for a while. “Joy and I finally talked...” he began. “She said she's sorry for everything, for hurting you by setting you up, for being mad at you, for hating you. She already know what I feel towards you, and so she decided to break it off with me. She said, it's about time that we confess our feelings for each other, because we've been circling around for quite some time. She gave me my freedom back, so that we could finally be together...” Calvin paused, and then let out a faint laugh. “Funny... almost all of our friends knew that I am in love with you, and the only person who haven't realize that is you...”
He took her hand, and placed her hand on his cheek. He closed his eyes as he kissed the palm of her hand. “Kit... we are free to be together now. All that needs to happen is for you to wake up, and to listen to what I have to say to you. We could be happy together... we don't have to worry about hurting other people because of our love, because they understand us. They now understand that we are in love with each other. Kit, please... wake up soon. I need you beside me. I need you to hear those words I long to say to you. I wanted to take this chance with you, because I know we could make it work this time. We have been chasing around, and I miss you, Kit. I miss you so much... please come back to me. I need you... I love you...” he said in a low voice. He opened her eyes, and looked into her face again. He could feel her heart breaking as she stared into her beautiful face. She looked at peace as she sleeps, but he was scared that she might not wake up anymore, and she would leave him forever. “Don't leave, Kit... promise me you'll hold on. I wouldn't be able to take it if you die. You are my life, my everything, my world. You are the reason why I'm not letting go, the very reason why I keep on living each day. If you leave me, you'll take away the very thing that's keeping me alive. Kit... stay alive, please...” he said to her. He leaned towards her again, and then kissed her on the lips.
As he stood up, and turn his back to leave, a silent tear fell into Kit's eyes.

Chun's left Kit's room, and then he heard his phone ring. He took it, and answered the call. “Hello?” he said. “Hey, Chunnie bear! I'm already here...” he heard a familiar voice say. Chun's mouth fell open, as he is surprised. “H-hannah?” he said. He heard her giggle on the other line. “Of course, it's me, silly! I want to see you. I want to see you first before I go and face Danson and Kit. God, I couldn't wait to see the look on their face if they found out that I'm already back here in Taipei...” she said. “W-where are you? I... I need to tell you something... b-before you go and see Kit.” Chun said. “Ambassador hotel. Come here, and then let's have some coffee before we meet the other guys. You have to tell me everything that has happened while I'm gone.” she said. As Chun ended the call, he became more anxious. Now that Hannah's back in Taipei, she will soon learn what have happened to her closest friend.
He rushed to Hannah's hotel, and at the lobby, he saw Hannah waiting for him. “Hannah?” he called. Hannah looked up at him. As soon as she saw Chun, she stood up from her seat, and rant towards him, and gave him a hug. “I missed you so much!” Hannah said as he released Chun from her hug. Chun looked at her, surprised at how she have changed over the months. She still do have that thick eye glasses that she wore before, but she was more beautiful and confident now. He could not see the trace of that once shy girl that he used to know. Maybe studying overseas have done good to her. “Looking good, Hannah.” he said. Hannah just smiled at him. “Thanks...” she said. “So... where's the rest? I I can't wait to see them again, especially Kit.” Hannah said. The smile on Chun's face upon hearing Kit's name. He turned his gaze away from her, and then turned his back on her. Hannah noticed the change of his expression, and this have confused her. “Chun, is there something wrong?” she asked. She heard Chun sigh, and then he faced her again. He looked at her sadly for a long time, and then he slowly nodded his head. At his confirmation, she felt her heart beating faster. “What's wrong? Did somebody tried to hurt her again?” she asked. Chun was silent for a long time. He noticed the worry reflecting in her eyes. He opened his mouth to speak, but each time he tries to speak, the words seems to get away. “Chun, please don't make me nervous like this. Can you speak up?” she said impatiently. “Kit... she...”

With tears on her eyes, Hannah ran towards the hospital's lobby. She could not believe what she have heard from Chun a while ago, and she wants to know if he is telling the truth or not. She stopped upon seeing the room. She looked at the sign beside it, and saw Kit's name written on it. “No...” she said as she shook her head. She closed her eyes, and then she held the door knob. As she opened her eyes, she opened the door. She walked inside the room, and as she made a step, she saw Kit lying almost lifeless on the bed. “Kit...” she called. She walked towards her bed, with tears flowing steadily from her eyes. “How could this happen to you? Why does it have to be you?” she said in a low voice. She knelt down on her bed, and then held her hand. “You are always hurting because of Calvin, and now... look at what happened to you. Why did you have to give up your life because of that stupid guy? He can't even love you back, or even accept how you feel for him. Why did you have to take the bullet that was supposed to be for him? Are you really that blindly in love with him, that you even have to sacrifice yourself in order to save him? Why are you so selfish, Kit? What about those people who cares about you the most? What about me? Didn't you realize how sad I'm going to be if you leave us life this?” she said to Kit. She paused for a while, and then wiped the tear on her face. “I need you too, Kit. You are my friend, the only person who took the chance to be my friend. It was you that made me realize that I can be a better person. You helped me to get out of my shell, you helped me to be confident, to gain more friends. You stood up for me when I was being bullied. You were always there to cheer on me. You know why I changed for the better, why I decided to go abroad and chase my dreams. It was because of you, Kit, all because of you. I need you to be with me, to be my friend. I need you to be always here for me...”
Calvin opened the door, and as he walked inside, he saw Hannah kneeling beside Kit's bed. He was surprised to see her back. “Hannah...” he called in a low voice. Hannah paused upon hearing Calvin calling her. She wiped the tears from her eyes, and stood up. Then, she turned to face him. He saw him smiling at her, but she remained unmoved by his smile. She simply gave him a glare. “It's all your fault...” she said in a low but angry tone. Calvin lowered his head, and looked away from her. He could clearly see the anger in her eyes. “What have she done to you, Calvin? Is it a crime to love you? If it is, then God should punish me, since I also fell in love with you before. Why did you hurt her? Look at her now... Look at what happened to her! She almost died because she loved you... but you... you could not even love her back... why are you so cruel to her, Calvin? She did things to make you happy... even sacrificing her own heart just to have the girl of your dreams. But in the end, you chose to leave her.” she said in a firm tone. She walked towards him, and then pushed him. “You don't deserve to be even her best friend, Calvin. You don't deserve her at all.”
Hannah closed her eyes, and then bumped into Calvin's chest as she walked away from him. As she stormed out of the room, she did not notice that Danson entered the room. He was surprised to see Hannah. He was about to follow her, but as he went outside the room, Hannah is already out of sight. “Is that really Hannah?” he thought. Then, he shook his head. “Maybe I'm just thinking of her too much, that I thought she's already back home...” he said to herself. He entered the door, and saw Calvin sitting beside Kit. He had that same sad look as before, while he watched Kit peacefully sleeping on her bed. “She's right...” he heard Calvin said. “I don't deserve you after all the wrong things I've done to you. I just hope one day, when you wake up, you will give us a chance... because I love you, and I know that you love me too...” he said. Danson walked up to him, and put his hand on his shoulder. “Cal...” he said. Calvin looked up at him. “She's right... I don't deserve Kit...”
“Calvin, don't make this hard for you. She loves you, I know that... and now that you have admitted that you love her, doesn't it have to be worthy of it all?”
“I have hurt her...”
“You regret it and you apologized to her for all the wrong things you've done!”
“I caused her to be like this...”
“You know that it was her choice to save you...”
Calvin stood up from his bed, and turned away from him. “Seems to me, that when I hurt Kit, I did not only hurt her, but also the people who cared about her... you and Chun...” he said. “Calvin, with all the things you've done, we have forgiven you.” Danson said. Calvin was silent for a long time, then he turned to Danson. “I've hurt a lot of people, Danson... and maybe those people I have hurt could never forgive me in the same way that you have forgiven me for my mistakes...” he said. Danson shot him a confused look, wondering what Calvin was talking about. “Hannah... she hates me... she hates me because of what I did to Kit....” Calvin finally said. Danson was surprised at what Calvin said. He looked at the door for a long time, until it finally hit him that it was Hannah that came in a while ago. “H-hannah?” Danson repeated. “She was here a while ago... she finally knew what have happened to Kit, and she was blaming me for what happened to her. It is all my fault, Danson... my fault...” he said in a low voice. Danson looked back at him, and stared at him for a long time. “Calvin...” he said. “Somehow, you have to learn to forgive yourself for everything... because she wouldn't like it if she sees you like this...” Then, Danson walked away from him and headed to the door. He was hoping to find Hannah and explain everything to her.

As Danson was walking through the hospital's hallway, he heard a familiar tune being played on the piano. “Moon River...” he thought as he walked towards to where the music is coming from. He stood before a door, and then slowly opened the door. He peeked inside, and saw Hannah playing the piano. “Hannah...” he said in a low voice. He slowly walked to her, and listened to her as she played the lonely tune. His heart was filled with mixed emotion – he was happy to finally see the girl he loves, he was sad because he could feel how hurt and betray she felt, and he was worried with her, being too mad at Calvin for all the things that have happened. Hannah stopped playing the piano, and then looked up at him. “Danson...” she said sadly. Danson walked towards her, and sat beside her. Hannah looked down at the piano, and let the tears fall down from her eyes. “She was strong, I know. She was stronger than I am. She held on for so long, only to give up this way... why?” she said. “Hannah... Kit did not gave up. Maybe at some point, she did, but in the end, she chose to fight for the love she have always wanted...”
“Why does she have to give her lie to the man who couldn't love her?”
Danson paused, and then looked at her. “Hannah... you don't understand...” he said. “Calvin loved her in the best way he knew. He have loved her for so long, but like Kit, he was too scared to break their promise. Before, he was even more than willing to break their promise, but he realized that he could not force Kit to love him, so he chose to be her best friend so that he could always be by her side. He didn't want to lose Kit... because she's very important to him...”
“He got mad at her for being the paper crane girl!”
“Because he thought she chose their friendship over her love for him... because he thought Kit was choosing his love for Jiro... because she kept her identity as the paper crane girl especially during the times that he was looking for her. If Kit had the courage to tell him how she feels, then maybe this wouldn't happen. Hannah, please don't blame Calvin for her heartache. The truth is, the two of them have been hiding their feelings for each of their promise... It's not only Kit who have been in pain, but also Calvin. All this time, we only heard Kit's side and sympathized with her because we've seen how he have hurt her unintentionally, but the truth is, all this time, Calvin has been hurting as well... because he have loved Kit silently. Kit may not know it, but it her own little ways, she have been rejecting Calvin's love, and it was breaking his heart. I am not blaming Kit here, but it's the truth. Maybe Calvin was at fault, but Kit was also at fault...”
Hannah looked away from him, and stared on the piano keys. “She was scared to lose her. I understand why she did those things...” she said in a low voice. “Calvin was scared to lose her as well. There are times that she would push him away, and he could not understand why she was doing those things. We even got more scared when Jiro came into her life... he was his biggest rival and he always thought that he would take Kit away from him. Whenever he would come to her, Kit would keep her distance. She rejects him in some ways, and it was hurting him. If Calvin got mad before, it's because he could not accept the fact that Kit could never love him...” Danson said. “Is he blind? If Kit didn't love her, why would she help him find the paper crane girl? Why would she forgive him for all of his shortcomings? Why would he help him win the heart of the girl he truly loves? Many times, I've seen Kit cry because of her... and you've also seen her at her worst, crying because her heart is breaking because of him...”
“But Calvin never knew about those tears, because she chose to hide it from him...”
He put his arm around her, and let her rest her head on his shoulder. “Please understand, Hannah... and please... please forgive Calvin for everything. He's hurting too much now... and the only thing we could do is to be a friend to him.” he said. Hannah looked up at him and nodded his head. “Because, just like us...” he continued. “he is scared that Kit may not wake up anymore...”

Joy entered the flower shop, and she was greeted by the lady boss of the shop. “Oh, you're here again.” the owner said. Joy smiled at her and nodded her head. “Let me guess, a bouquet of peach roses again?” she asked. Joy nodded her head again. “Yes, please...” she said. “If you say so...” the owner said. She took a dozen of roses from the pot, and then placed it on the table to wrap it. As Joy was watching the owner, she heard the door open. “Good morning!” she heard a familiar voice say. She looked back, and saw Jiro walking towards her. He smiled at her. “Buying flowers for Kit again?” he asked. Joy smiled at him and nodded her head. “I think her room will be filled with peach roses again. Do you think she would like it?” Joy asked. Jiro laughed at what she said. “I think Kit wouldn't mind if her room will be filled with her favorite flowers.” he said.
The lady boss walked up to Joy, and handed her the roses. Then, she turned to Jiro. “And how about you?” she asked him. “I'll take a dozen of pink tulips.” he said. The owner smiled at him, and nodded her head. “A dozen of pink tulips, coming up!” she said. As soon as the lady boss left, Joy looked up at Jiro and smiled. “So, the pink tulips would be for Kit as well?” she asked. Jiro just gave her an evil smile. “Maybe, or maybe not...” he said. “Why, are you planning to pursue Kit when she wakes up?”
“Nah... it would be better if she ends up with Calvin. After all, those two are meant for each other.”
Just then, the lady boss gave Jiro the flowers that he ordered. After they paid for it, the two went out of the shop, and walked to the hospital. “I think those pink tulips go together with these peach roses... and I also think Calvin have bought a dozen peach roses for Kit as well...” Joy said. “What's new? Calvin never fails to bring her her favorite flowers. Too bad, Kit wouldn't be able to see what he have been doing for her...” Jiro said. “I think if she sees those flowers that Calvin gives her, she will be touched.”
“Sometimes, I feel bad for Calvin. You know, the chances of Kit's survival is beginning to decrease. If she doesn't wake up soon, there's a possibility that she wouldn't be able to wake up anymore... and I know it will break his heart even more if he loses Kit forever...”
“I still believe that one day, Kit will wake up. She's a brave girl, she came back for Calvin, I know she will wake up for him. Then, it will be a happy ending for them...”
Jiro paused, and then he turned to face Kit. “How about you, Joy... are you wishing that you'll have your happy ending soon?” he asked. Joy let out a faint smile, and nodded her head. “It's every girl's wish... to live in a fairy tale and to live happily ever after with the man they love. I know one day, I will find someone who could love me for who I am, someone who could give me the love I've always wanted. I think being single for the mean time would give me the chance to think things through, the evaluate what I really wanted most. I think I'll enjoy this newfound freedom for the mean time...” she said. “So... you and Calvin broke it off?” he asked. Joy nodded her head again. “It's better that way. I can't force him to stay in a relationship if he no longer loves me, right?” she said. Jiro smiled and nodded his head. Then, he put his arm around her as they walked. “Don't worry, Joy. I know, one day you will find the guy of your dreams.” he said. Then, he handed her the flowers that he was holding. Joy paused, and stared at the flowers for a while, then she looked up at Jiro, confused at what he was doing. “It's not really for Kit. I saw you today, and I just felt like giving you these flowers.” he said. She felt herself blush as she took the flowers from his hand. “Thanks...” she said in a low voice. Then, she glanced secretly at him, and smiled to herself. Just like before when they were still together, Jiro have surprised her by giving her her favorite flowers.

Hannah gently opened the door, and took a peek inside. She slowly walked up, and by Kit's bed, she saw Calvin sitting beside her. She looked at Calvin for a while, and smiled to herself. “Danson is right...” she thought. “Calvin have always been in love with Kit. How come I didn't see it before? He really knows for to hide his true feelings...” For a while, she watched Calvin as he held and caress Kit's hand. When he smiled at Kit, she could see the love in his eyes. “Kit... I wish you could see what I am seeing. I wish you could feel his love for you, because I realized this, I witnesses it now before my eyes. Kit... do you hear his heart beating? I believe his heart only beats for you...” she thought. Then, she saw Calvin look her way. She turned her gaze at him the moment their eyes met. “Hey, what are you doing there? Why don't you come here?” he said. She looked up at him, and saw him smiling at her. She smiled back at him, then she nodded her head. “How is she?” she asked as she walked towards him. “Stable, as usual. But the past few days have not been good. She was having these attacks or something... and I thought I was going to lose her...” he aid in a low voice. “You... you never left her side?” Hannah asked. Calvin shook his head. “I never did. I want to be the very first person she'll see when she wakes up. I promised her that.” he said.
As Calvin turns his eyes on Kit, Hannah smiled at him. She realized how much Calvin have loved his best friend, for she could see that now. It's just a pity that Kit wasn't able to know about it before she fell into this deep slumber. “Do you think, she could feel my love for her?” he asked. Hannah nodded her head. “I know she does... and I know she's happy because... because it was her dream that she will be loved by the man she loves the most, and that's you...” she answered. “Before this have happened, I... I was supposed to tell her... but Trixie came, and she shot Kit. I... I never had that chance anymore to tell her. That's why I'm telling her now, even if she is asleep. I want her to feel that I love her, that I regret being mad at her.” Then, he looked at Hannah, and smiled. “Since that day, I've made a paper crane for her, so that when she wakes up she would know that each day, I love her, and my love for her grows as time passes...”
“I know, if Kit sees the paper cranes, she would be very happy. She made those paper cranes for you, because she wants you to know, in her own little ways that she loves you and that she will always be by your side no matter what. She chose to give you paper cranes, because it symbolizes her love for you, it's like telling you that wherever you are, you will always have her heart.”
Then, Hannah reached to him, and held his hand. “I'm sorry...” she said in a low voice. Calvin gave her a confused look. “I'm sorry for the way I acted yesterday....” Calvin gave her a warm smile. “It's OK, Hannah. I understand. When I hurt Kit, I know I've hurt a lot of people, especially you. I know how much Kit means to you as well... I'm sorry if I have hurt Kit in the past. I will never hurt her ever again, I promise you.” he said. Hannah smiled at her and nodded her head. “I trust that you will never hurt her again. I trust in you, Calvin... always take care of her for me...”

Chapter 58 – Heart's Song A/N: There is something about this chapter that will hint about my little surprise  -- Hannah stood beside Kit's bed, her eyes already swollen from crying. A while ago, Kit had another convulsion, and they all thought that it was the end for her. Good thing the doctors arrived in time, and her condition has been stabilized. “Hannah...” Danson said as he stood beside her. “She's going to be OK, now...” he said. “Kit always had these attacks, and the doctors were able to save her, but it still worried me... because she... she might...” Calvin said, then he turned away from him. He closed his eyes, not wanting his friends to see him cry. He doesn't want them to see that he is being weak at the moment, as he was trying to be strong for Kit. Joy put his hand on Calvin's shoulder, and consoled him. “She's going to be OK, Cal... she will be... don't worry... she's a strong girl and she will wake up soon...” Joy said. Calvin looked up at Hannah, and saw her crying. At that moment, he wanted to break down as well, but he couldn't in front of his friends. “She's not going to leave us soon, right? She's not going to leave us...” Hannah said as she looked up at Danson. Danson just nodded her head. Then, Hannah hugged him, and rested her head on his shoulder. Danson was surprised at what he did. The rest saw Danson with that surprised look on his face, his eyes widened, his mouth opened in gape. As Hannah hugged him, he stood frozen in his place. Danson swallowed hard as he looked at Hannah. He felt his heart beating faster with her touch, and he felt cold sweat beds running down his forehead. Chun pursed his lips hard, trying his best not to laugh hard at his friend. “Excuse me... I need to go out...” he said. “I... I'll go with you, Chun.” Calvin said. Joy and Jiro looked at each other, wondering what's going on with the two. They looked at Danson again, and Joy couldn't help but smile at the way he looked. “Man, as if this is the first time Hannah hugged you...” Jiro thought as he shook his head. They all watched Chun and Calvin as they got out of the room. As soon as the door behind them closed, Chun looked at Calvin. They stared at each other for a while, then looked back at the door. Then, they eyed other again. “You came out of that room... because...” Chun asked. All Calvin could answer him was a playful smile. Chun smiled at him, then the two began to laugh hysterically. “Did... did you see the look on his face?” Calvin asked in between laugh. Chun put his hand on his tummy, and nodded his head as he laughed. “You bet I did!” Chun said. Chun stopped laughing, and just looked at Calvin. He smiled at him as he watched him laugh. “What?” Calvin asked as soon as he stopped laughing. “It's the first time in weeks that I've seen you laugh like this. I'm glad to see you happy this way.” he said. She's always after your happiness. I think you should do this more often...” Chun said. Calvin smiled and nodded his head. “I think I should...” he said. Then, the two began to laugh again. -- Danson glared at the three guys in front of him. Since that morning, his friends did nothing but tease him about how he froze when Hannah hugged him. “Stop it already!” he said in an annoyed tone. In an instant, the three stopped laughing. “It's not funny, OK?” he shouted again. “Aiyo, Danson... loosen up, will you?” Jiro said. Chun nodded in agreement. Calvin looked at Jiro, and nudged him. “Did you see how he looked like a while ago?” he said. Jiro smiled and nodded his head, then the two began to laugh again. Danson clenched his fist as he watched the two laugh. Then, he stood up from his seat. “Cut it out, will you?!” he shouted at the two. Calvin and Jiro stopped laughing, and then turned away from him. “Wei, Danson... aren't you glad because of your little incident a while ago, lover boy here is now smiling, just the way he used to?” Chun said as he eyed on Calvin. Danson looked at Calvin and saw him smiling. Chun is right, since that day that Kit got shot, Calvin has always been serious. He have always been filled with worry, because he was scared that Kit would be gone. Many times, he have seen Calvin cry , especially when Kit have her attacks. What happened a while ago, when Hannah hugged her, somehow lightened up his mood. “Fine... I'll let this pass...” Danson said. Then three looked at each other, and smiled. “So, Dannie boy...” Chun said as he walked up to him. He put his arm around him, and smirked at him. “What's your plan, now that Hannah is here?” he asked. Danson gave him a confused look. “Plans?” he asked. Chun nodded his head. “Let me refresh your memory... 'I can always go to Vienna, can't I?' Does that sound familiar now?” he asked. Danson looked away from him and sighed. “So I have to confess my feelings for her now?” he asked. The three nodded theirs heads. “Danson, this is a good opportunity for you to tell Hannah that you love her. She only got a two more weeks left before she goes back to Vienna. You have to tell her!” Jiro said. Calvin nodded his head in agreement. “If you held back, you will make the same as I did. I wanted to tell Kit exactly how I feel, but I was too late.” Calvin said. “That's the thing... I have no idea how I will tell her...” Danson confessed. He sat on Kit's bed, and then stared at her. “Before, when I was still in love with Kit, I was too scared to tell her how I feel. Each time I try to tell her that I love her, she would change the topic. When I confessed my feelings for her, I already found out that she is in love with Calvin, so she turned me down...” Then, Danson looked at his friends. “I don't know how I'm going to tell Hannah that I have fallen in love with her....” he continued. Calvin smiled at him. He walked towards him and patted his back. “It's simple, Danson. Just be yourself. If you will tell her, just think of it that you are talking to yourself.” Calvin said. “I need to practice confessing my confession first. Just like what Hannah and I did before...” The three were surprised at what Danson said. “You practiced your love confession with Hannah before?” they asked in unison. Danson smiled and nodded his head. “We have this deal that before the new semester start, I will tell Kit that I like her, and she will tell Calvin her feelings for her. So, one night, we went to the soccer field to practice.” he said. He smiled to himself as he remembered what happened that night. “That night, when I heard her confession for Calvin, I was so moved that I thought she was confessing her feelings for me. I got carried away that I almost told her that I love her. Another thing is, when I drove her home after buying a dress for her recital, we were teasing around that I almost kissed her.” Danson said. The three could see how giddy Danson gets as he remembered those moments he had with Hannah. “I think he is in love with Hannah before but he didn't want to admit it.” Jiro told Calvin. Calvin nodded his head. “OK, so you got carried away when Hannah was practicing her love confession, and then you almost kissed her... what else happened?” Jiro asked. Danson smiled shyly, and they saw him blush. “Remember the night we got drunk at the beach house?” he asked. The three nodded her head. “She was drunk so I helped her to her bed. But, she didn't want me to go, so I stayed beside her all night. Then, we...” Danson looked up at his friends. They looked at him, anticipating what he was about to say. “You guys what?” Chun asked. “We... kissed...” he said shyly. Calvin's eyes widened at what he said. Chun and Jiro gave each other a high five. “Tell me, Danson. Is Hannah a better kisser than that Snowy girl?” Chun asked. Danson gave him a death glare. “I am not a kiss-and-tell guy!” he said. He turned away from him, and then smiled to himself, which somehow answered Danson's question. “Wei, if Kit is awake is hearing all of this, she would whack you in the head for taking advantage of her friend. And since Kit is not awake...” Calvin said. Then, he whacked Danson in his forehead. Danson flinched in pain because of what he did. “Wei! I am not taking advantage of her. And besides... she was the one who kissed me!” he said defensively. “Yeah, right...” Chun said as he rolled his eyes. “OK, how about this...” Jiro said as he stood up from his seat. “We'll help you with your confession for Hannah. Let's practice now.” he said. Danson gave him a startled look. “As in now? You would act as Hannah?” he asked. Jiro nodded his head. “Just imagine I am Hannah. Just don't get carried away, and kiss me, OK? I am straight, unlike the guy over here.” he said, pointing at Chun. Chun was surprised at what Jiro said, then he gave him a glare. “Wei! How many times will I tell you that I am straight now?” he said. Jiro looked at him, and gave him a smirk. “Oh, so does that mean, you were gay before?” he asked. Chun sighed at him, and then rolled his eyes. “Wei... it's too bad that you're not gay anymore, Chun. I was willing not to be straight for you...” Calvin said, giving him a seductive smile. Chun smiled at Calvin, and winked at him. What they didn't know is that Joy and Hannah came inside the room, and heard what Calvin said. “Err... excuse us...” Joy said as she took her bag from the table. Calvin laughed secretly, because of the confused expression on the girls' face. “Sorry to interrupt your flirting.” Hannah said. She took Joy's hand, and then pulled her out of the door. The four boys laughed at the two girls. “And they fell for that!” Chun said. “I think the coast is clear, Danson. We can practice now.” Jiro said. Danson nodded his head, and stood up from the bed. He walked up to Jiro, and then he held his hands. He looked into his eyes. “I love you...” Danson said. Upon saying that, Joy and Hannah came back inside the room, and saw the two boys holding hands. “Ehem...” Hannah said, interrupting the two. Danson and Jiro looked at them with surprised look. “Uh... sorry for the interruption again, but we forgot something again.” Joy said. She was trying to supress her laughter. She walked towards the table, and took a small piece of paper. Danson looked at Hannah, and saw the anger registered in her face. He looked at Jiro, confused with what's going on. As he looked down, he saw him holding Jiro's hands. He immediately let go of his hand upon realizing what happened. Hannah glared at Danson as she folded her arms. “What? Just because I was gone for a long time and got rejected by Kit, then he turned gay?!” she thought. At that moment, she wants to punch Danson in his face for breaking her heart. “You know what, guys...” Joy began. “I never thought all of us in this room are girls. You could've told us right from the start... we got fooled by your manly image. Honestly, we girls would understand.” she said. She winked at the four before they headed out of the door. The four got confused with what they were saying, then it finally dawned to them that the two girls thought that they are all gay. “Wei!” Calvin said, glaring at Chun. “Stop flirting with me, will you!” Chun rolled his eyes at him again. “As if I started it! You said you were willing to be gay if I'm still gay!” Chun said. Danson sat on the chair, and the three could see the worried look on his face. “What am I going to do now? Hannah now thinks that I am gay!” he said. At what Danson said, the girl who was sleeping peacefully on the hospital bed, let out a faint smile on her face. -- “I can't believe he is gay! And I can't believe that he loves your ex-boyfriend!” Hannah said to Joy as soon as they got out of the room. Joy was laughing so hard because of what they saw. “Who would've thought... those four... they are... ha ha ha!” she said in between laughs. “Not funny, Joy!” Hannah said. She folded her arms, then stomped as she walked. “I came back here in Taipei to hear Danson tell me that he loves me, but it turns out that he is in love with Jiro! I don't think he even fits that person that he likes... but... he liked Jiro all this time?! Is he making a fool of us all this time?! Is he gay all this time?!” Hannah said. Joy paused, and then she gave her a confused look. “Wait, wait... Danson likes another person?” she asked. Hannah nodded her head. “He told me that the person he likes is have a long hair, almond eyes, doesn't play the piano, tall and confident. I think it's Jiro except for the long hair part.” she said. Joy began to contemplate on what she said. She was silent for a while, thinking of Hannah's description of the person Danson liked. “Wait...” Joy said. “I think he just said the opposite of your description.” she said. Hannah's eyes widened at what she said. “He did?!” Joy nodded her head. “So, I think the person that he likes have a short hair, can play the piano, have this big brown eyes, petite, and shy. Exactly like you...” Joy said. Hannah sighed and shrugged her shoulder. “I heard him tell me that he loves me over the phone... so, you think that he loves me all this time?” she asked. Joy smiled and nodded her head. “If Kit is with us, she would confirm that. He loves you a lot, Hannah. He does... so I don't think he likes Jiro...” she said. Then, Hannah smiled to herself. “Really?” she asked again. “Yes...” Joy answered. “Because if he had a thing for Jiro, I will kill him right at this instant.” -- “Ask her out for dinner.” Calvin said to Danson. “Then, maybe after dinner, you two could talk things through. Don't steal Kit's idea.” Calvin said. Danson laughed at Calvin's reaction. “OK, so dinner, and gift. This is easy...” Danson said. Calvin and Jiro nodded their head. “Don't forget to write down your speech, OK?” Chun reminded him. Danson nodded his head. “I guess this would be all. I'll make the reservations now, and then I need to find a perfect gift for Hannah. I do hope everything will turn out OK.” Danson said. “It will be, don't worry.” Chun said. “OK...” Danson said as he stood up from his seat. “I think I'm off to find the perfect place to have this date with Hannah, and also to buy the gift. Will you come with me, Chun?” he asked. Chun nodded his head, and then stood up from his seat. “I'll go with you.” he said. A few minutes after Danson and Chun left, Joy and Hannah came. “Hey guys!” Joy greeted as they entered the room. Hannah put down their shopping bags on the floor, and then went up to Kit. She sat beside her, and then brushed her hair as she watched her sleep. “How is she?” she asked Calvin. Calvin stood up from his seat, and then walked towards the other side of Kit's bed. “She's OK. No attacks for today. She was given her medication before you came in.” Calvin said. Hannah looked up at Calvin and smiled at him. Then, she turned her eyes at the girl who was lying and sleeping peacefully on her bed. “Do you think she will wake up soon?” she asked him. Calvin sighed, and then he shrugged his shoulder. “I've been waiting for her to wake up too, Hannah. All of us do...” he said. Hannah just sighed as she continued to watch Kit. “I think what Hannah is trying to say is that, she hopes to see Kit wake up before she leaves for Vienna...” Joy said as she walked up to them. Calvin looked up at Joy, then he looked at Hannah. He could clearly see the sadness I her face as she watched Kit. “I'm sorry, Hannah...” he said in a low voice. “I don't know until when Kit would be in a coma. All I know is that I fear what would happen if she wakes up. I don't fear if she would lose her memories, or if she wouldn't be able to move for the rest of her life. What I fear most is that when she wakes up, it will be her last... and that all of us will lose her forever... If that happens, I know I'll go crazy...” he continued. He smiled sadly as he sat beside Kit. He took her hand, and gently caressed it. “You don't know how it feels whenever she have these attacks. It felt like part of me is getting weaker. My heart is breaking when I see her struggling, and I pray fervently to God not to take her away from me, to give me more time to be with her. When the doctor told us before that we lost her, I could not accept it. It dawned to me that she's dead the moment I went inside the operating room, and saw her lying lifeless on the operating bed. I asked her to come back for me, and she listened. After a while, she was alive again, and the doctors were able to save her.” Calvin said. “I remember that day...” Jiro said as he walked towards them. “Calvin really could not accept that Kit's gone, that he was lashing out on us. We even hit each other, right?” he told Calvin. Calvin nodded his head. “I was blaming myself for all the things that happened. If only I listened to my heart, and had the courage to break off that promise, maybe I wouldn't have this regret. I was holding back my feelings for Kit because I thought she would leave me if she found out that I love her. But I was wrong... all this time, she was in love with me as well. Honestly, I was happy when I found out she was my paper crane girl, but what hurts me the most is she chose our friendship over her love for me...” Calvin said. Then, he looked up at Jiro. “And it's because she chose you, Jiro. She chose not to break your heart...” he said to him. Hannah sighed, and shook her head. “You're wrong, Calvin...” Hannah said. “Although she chose me, she did that because you've given her more than enough heartaches that she gave up on you. She found Jay, and she promised to love him, but she couldn't keep her promise because while she is with Jiro, she is still loving you. In the end, she chose to give all of her love to Jiro and eventually accept the fact that the two of you can only be best friends, and nothing more.” Hannah said. “And I failed her...” Jiro said in a low voice. “If I knew that time that she is hurting because of Calvin because he ended their friendship, I should've been there for her... Instead, I intentionally hurt her when I found out that she is in love with her best friend...” Jiro said. “It was also my fault. She took Jiro from me, and I thought she have intentions of taking Calvin from me, so I told Jiro about her being the paper crane girl... and I talked Celestine into seducing Jiro. In the end, I hurt her so badly...” Joy said. Hannah smiled at her friends. She know all of them regrets all the wrong things they have done to Kit. “I was at fault too... I wasn't there for Kit when she needed a friend.” she said. Calvin let out a faint laugh. “You know guys, if there's some lessons that we have to learn from what happened, it's that we should never hold back our feelings. If you love someone, say it out loud. If they reject you, at least you wouldn't have any regret that you wasn't able to tell them your feelings. What's good about saying nothing is that you lessen the tendency to hurt others. The bad thing is, you never realize how keeping quiet hurts you. The only wrong thing in life is to deny what your heart truly feels.” Calvin said. Jiro paused upon hearing what Calvin said. He glanced secretly at Joy, and then looked away from her. He could not deny that all the feelings he had for Joy all came back, especially now that they are getting closer. Calvin is right, he should not hold back his feelings for Joy, but he feels that it's not yet the right time for them to be together. After all, she and Calvin just broke up. He doesn't know if Joy would feel the same way for him, maybe her feelings for him have already changed. He could not blame Joy, after all, it was him who broke her heart. Joy heard Jiro let out a sigh. As she looked at him, their eyes met. Jiro stared at her for a while, and then turned his gaze away from him. There was an awkward silence between them, and she knows Calvin and Hannah could sense it. “Uhmmmm... I think I'll go and get something to eat.” Jiro excused himself. Calvin threw him a confused look. “Again?” he asked. Jiro let out a nervous laugh as he looked back at them. “Uh... you see, I'm a growing boy.” he said. Then, he rushed outside of the room. “I... I think I'll go out for a while...” Joy said. Calvin watched Joy as she get out of the room. As soon as they are alone, Calvin and Hannah looked at each other, and laughed. Then, Calvin looked at Kit, and brushed her hair with his fingers. “Kit... I wish you're seeing what's happening between Jiro and Joy...” he thought. Then, he smiled at her. “Obviously, they are still in love with each other. I hope we could help them get back together...” -- The following week at the hospital... “Hannah!” Hannah paused, and then looked back. She saw Danson running up to her. “Hey, Danson!” she said, smiling at him. As soon as Danson reached her, he panted. Then, he smiled tiredly at her. “Hey... I've got something to ask you...” he said. Hannah gave him a wondering look as she waited for him to speak. “What is it?” she asked. “Are you free tomorrow night?” he asked. Hannah smiled and nodded her head. Danson grinned from ear to ear at her answer. “Why?” Hannah asked. “I want to ask you out tomorrow night...” Danson said. Hannah turned her back on him, and then smiled to herself. She find herself being giddy, as Danson was asking her out for a date. “So... why do you want us to go out tomorrow?” she asked. Danson put his hands on his pocket, and stood beside her. “I want to spend more time with you before you leave for Vienna next week. You know that I really missed hanging out with you.” he said. Hannah felt her cheeks blush at what Danson said. “He really missed me... is he going to tell me tomorrow night that he loves me?” she thought. Hannah looked at Danson, and slightly hit him on his arm. “Aiyo, Danson. We've been spending much time together since I came back...” she said. Danson laughed at what she said. “I know. But there's something that I want to tell you tomorrow...” he said. Hannah looked away from him, and smiled to herself. “That's it! He's going to tell me that he loves me! He's going to propose to me!” she thought. Then, she composed herself and cleared her throat before facing Danson again. “What is it?” she asked. She smiled at her, hoping that Danson would tell her now what he is going to say tomorrow night. “It's a secret.” Danson said. Hannah tugged Danson's arms, and then gave him puppy eyes. “Come on, why don't you tell me now?” “You'll find out tomorrow.” “What is it that you want to tell me, that I have to wait until tomorrow night?” “Secret. You'll know tomorrow for sure.” “How about a clue?” “Won't tell.” “Pretty please?” Danson sighed at shook his head. “Why do you want to know now?” he asked. “What difference would it make? If you tell it to me tomorrow, or right now, I would still find out about it.” she said. Danson sighed again, then he smiled at her. “Fine... I'll tell you.” he said. Hannah smiled sweetly at him as she waited for him to speak again. “I want you to meet a very special girl tomorrow. The one that I have liked for a long time.” he said. The smile on Hannah's face disappeared in an instant. Why would Danson want her to meet his crush? “Is it Kit? Why would you want me to meet Kit?” she asked. Danson laughed as he shook his head. “It's not Kit, silly girl! She's someone I really liked for a long time. And I want you to meet her.” Danson said. Hannah turned her back on him again, and she folded her arms. She was disappointed at what he said. She could not believe that Danson likes not another girl, and not her. Didn't she accidentally heard him over the phone, telling her that he loves her? Why does he liked another girl, and why does he want her to meet this girl. “I forgot. I need to do something tomorrow night.” Hannah said monotonously. Danson was surprised at what she said. “What? But you agreed already! You have to go out with me tomorrow, Hannah!” he said. Hannah turned to face him again, giving him an annoyed look. “Why do you want me to come with you tomorrow?” she asked. Danson gave her a smile. He's amused with her being irritated with him. At least it would keep his little surprise for her. “Because I want you to be there when I propose to her. I want you to approve of her.” he said. Hannah frowned at him, then he put her hands on her waist. “What do you take me for? Your best friend? What do you think of us? Kit and Calvin? For your information, we're not best friends! And why do you want me to approve of this girl? Why don't you just ask Joy to come with you tomorrow? Why does it have to be?” she asked. Danson laughed at her again as she gets mad at him. “Why not you? You are my closest girl friend, and I want you to meet the girl that I like. Can you do that for me, your old buddy?” he asked. Hannah sighed in resignation, and then slowly nodded her head. “If that makes you happy...” she said. Then, Danson pulled her to him, and hugged her tight. “Thank you, Hannah...” he said. “You don't know how much this means to me...” -- “You what?!” Chun, Jiro and Calvin all asked in unison. “I told her I want her to meet a very special girl.” Danson said proudly to them. The three sighed at hearing his answer. They never expected that Danson would resort to this lie to keep his surprise from Hannah. Calvin found himself rolling the newspaper he was holding in his hand due to irritation. Then, he stood up from his seat, and walked to Danson. He whacked Danson in the head using the rolled newspaper. “Aww!” Danson flinched in pain. He rubbed his head, and then looked up at Calvin. “What's that for?” he asked in annoyed tone. “That is for you being too stupid. Did you know that with your lies, it is more likely that Hannah would not come tomorrow night?” Calvin said. Danson sighed, and then lowered his head. “She insists on knowing why I want to go out with her tomorrow...” he said in a low voice. “Then, you should've told her that you want to spend more time with her before she leaves!” Jiro said. “I already told her that.” Danson said. “Then, you should've said anything aside from that. For sure, Hannah is heart broken because of what you have said!” Chun said. They all heard Danson sighed again. “I thought it's for the best because of what I am going to say to her tomorrow night... it's in my speech...” Danson said. Chun and Jiro looked at each other, wondering what Danson's love speech would be all about. “That's another thing. We have to hear what you will say to Hannah tomorrow, and we have to approve of it or else, you will mess up when you propose to her.” Jiro said. Danson sighed and shook his head, then he took a piece of paper from his pocket. “Here goes...” he said as he unfolded the paper. He stood up from his seat, and then walked up to Jiro. “Are you sure you want to hear it?” Danson asked. Jiro nodded his head. Then, he unfolded the paper, and then began his speech. “I love you...” he began. At the beginning of his speech, Joy entered the room, and heard what Danson said. Her eyes widened when he saw Danson looking into Jiro's eyes, and saying those three words. “Oh my God! Danson's really gay?” she thought. Then, he looked at Jiro. “And he likes Jiro?” she thought. “I knew in my heart that I have always loved you. It's just that I'm too stubborn to admit how I feel towards you...” she heard Danson said. Joy could not bear seeing Danson propose to Jiro. She knows it would break Hannah's heart, because it was breaking hers as well. She looked at Jiro, and saw how giddy he is as he listened to what Danson is saying. “Go on, Danson...” Jiro said. Joy shook her head as she watched the two. She looked at Calvin and Chun, and she was wondering why the two guys were not stopping Danson from his love confession. She could not take it anymore. She decided to walk towards them, and make then know her presence. “Ehem.” she said as she walked towards them. The four guys looked at Joy, and saw the irritated look on her face. Calvin looked at Chun, trying to hide his laughter. He knows that Joy is irritated, as she heard Danson's love confession to Jiro. “What is this?!” She asked Danson and Jiro. “Oh, nothing. Just making some speech...” Danson said to Joy. Jiro looked at Joy, and smiled viciously at her. “Actually, Dansons confessing his love for me. I would've answered Danson if you hadn't interrupted us.” Jiro teased. He have this evil grin on his face as he looked at Joy. Joy could feel her blood rushing up to her head at what he said. “You what?!” she shouted at him. Danson got confused at her reaction, then it finally sinked onto him – Joy thought that they turned gays. “I-it's not what you think!” Danson said to her. Calvin and Chun finally laughed at the scene between the two guys and Joy. “It's not what I think? It's not what I think?! You are proposing to Jiro, you freakingly stupid guy!” she shouted at him. “I am not!” Danson said. Jiro laughed at Danson, as he looked scared. He stood up, and put his arm around Danson. “Aiyo, Danson... no need to deny it to Joy. And besides, I also feel the same way for you...” Jiro said. Danson gaped as he gave him a death glare. “Jiro!” Danson shouted at him. He saw Jiro look at Joy, and smirk at her. “I have always liked Danson, and I know Danson like me as well. And besides, I can always change my preference, right?” Jiro said. Joy could not speak up due to the anger building up inside her. How could it be that Jiro and Danson turned gay? She would understand if it's Chun, but Jiro? “Fine!” she shouted at Jiro. “Be gay for all I care! I hate the two of you!” Then, she turned her back and stormed out of the room. As soon as she left, Jiro, Chun and Calvin laughed. Danson just gave the three a confused look. “What's that for? You guys know that I am not gay!” he shouted at his friends. The three paused, then looked at him. “At least we helped you keep your surprise for Hannah, didn't we?” Jiro said, winking at him. Danson could only sigh at his friends. He''s a little disappointed with the way things are turning up. “What now? This seems to be hopeless... What if Joy tells Hannah that I am gay?” he said. With what he said, Jiro paused and gave him a bewildered look. -- “Kit...” Hannah called as she sat beside her. She wore a long face as she faced her sleeping friend. “I think I know how it feels... when the person you love doesn't love you in the same way that you love him. I think I could understand your pain now... because I am feeling it now...” she said in a low voice. She took Kit's hands, and held it. She looked at Kit sadly, trying her best not to cry in front of her. “I heard it, Kit. I heard him tell me that he loves me... but why does he have to tell me that he likes another girl? Why does he have to change his feelings for me? It hurts because I thought he felt the same way for me... but I was wrong...” she said. Hannah rested her head on Kit's bed, as the tears slowly fell from her eyes. “I thought the most painful thing that I felt in the world was when Arron left me. But I was wrong... the fact that Danson rejected me without even letting him know that I love him hurts the most. Maybe it was my fault, as I assumed things between us. I assumed that he loves me too... but he have fallen out of love with me. Maybe it's for the best that he is in love with another girl, so that he wouldn't have to wait for me to come back and settle here in Taiwan. But it still hurts, Kit... it does...” she said in a low voice. Then, she took her phone. She pressed the button of the phone, and then played Kit's favorite tune – Moon River. As the music played, she laid the phone beside Kit's ears. It was that tune that Hannah taught Kit to play in the piano before, because it was also Calvin's favorite tune. Whenever one of them is sad, they would play it in the piano. Now that Kit is still in the coma, the only thing she could do is let her listen to it. She is sad now, and she know Kit wouldn't mind if she would play it for her. As she listened to the lonely melody, she felt something in her hand. She looked at Kit's hand, and saw her fingers slowly moving. She was surprised at what she saw. “Kit...” she said. She smiled at the girl beside her. She was hoping that Kit would wake up now. “Kit... do you hear me? Kit... please wake up...” she pleaded to her. “I don't think she would wake up now, even if she would move her fingers.” she heard someone say. She looked back, and saw Calvin walking up to her. He put the bouquet of peach roses on the side table, and took a seat beside Kit. “The first time this happened, I thought she would wake up to, but I was wrong. The doctors said it was just her reflexes, but at least it's a good sign. Maybe she heard what you have been saying to her, as well as that music that you are playing for her...” Calvin said. The smile on Hannah's face slowly disappeared as she looked at Kit again. “Oh...” she said in a low voice. “I was hoping to see her awake, but I guess I have to be contented with this...” Hannah said. She leaned back to her chair, and stared at Kit. As Calvin looked at Hannah, he saw her sighing. “Anything wrong, Hannah?” Calvin asked. Hannah gave him a faint smile, and shook her head. “I'm OK...” she lied. Calvin smiled at her, then he looked at Kit, and took her hand. “Why do I feel that you are sad, Hannah? Kit wouldn't like to see you this way... she would do everything to make you smile.” he said. “I guess I could never hide what I feel inside...” she said in a low voice. “So, tell me, who is that person that's making you sad? Is it the same person that's suppose to make you happy?” Calvin asked. Hannah slowly nodded her head to answer his question. “I... I finally understood how Kit felt before... when she was secretly loving you... You know, nothing hurts more than realizing he meant everything for you, and yet, you meant nothing for him. He liked another girl, when all this time I thought it was me that he loved...” she said in a low voice. Calvin let go of Kit's hand as he leaned towards Hannah. Then, he took Hannah's hand, and held it. “If you love him, you will fight for what you feel. Prove to him that you are worthy of his love. Who knows, maybe in the end you'll find out that he also feels the same way for you, that you are the one for him.” Calvin said. Hannah paused and looked up at him. “Calvin's right...” she thought. Then, she looked at Kit. “Kit, do you think I should fight for what I feel for Danson? Do you think I should tell him how I feel for him, even though I know I never got the chance with him?” she asked silently. “I know what you are thinking, Hannah... and I know exactly what Kit would tell you if she could hear you...” Calvin said. Hannah gave him a confused look. “Kit would tell you not to make the same mistake as she did before. If you love Danson, tell him exactly how you feel. As I've said before, never hold back your feelings, because in the end you might regret it.” Calvin said. Hannah's lips curved into a smile, and then she nodded her head. “You're right, Calvin...” she said. “I should let Danson know that I love him. If he rejects me, if he could not accept my love, then that would be OK with it. At least I wouldn't regret anything in the end. If he loves another girl... or guy, then I would accept it.” Hannah said. Calvin smiled and nodded his head. “Don't you have to get ready for your big date tonight? You still have to look good even if you have to meet the girl who stole Danson's heart.” Calvin said. Hannah stood up from her seat, and then smiled at Calvin. “Thanks Calvin...” she said. Then, she turned her back and left Kit's room. After Hannah left, Calvin looked at Kit and smiled at her. He held her hand again, and pressed it to his cheeks. “Well, there's the happy ending for our friends... you would forgive me if I said those things to Hannah, right?” he said. Then, he leaned towards her, and kissed her on her forehead. -- “For Christ's sake, Danson! Stop pacing back and forth! You're making us all Dizzy!” Jiro shouted at his friend. Danson paused and looked at Jiro. “I'm nervous, OK?” he said. “It's just a dinner date, Danson. Nothing to be scared of...” Calvin said. Then, he smiled at him. “You look great actually...” Calvin said. “Wei, if you're going out with Hannah, then why are you here at the hospital? Aren't you supposed to be picking up Hannah now?” Jiro asked. Danson paused, then, he looked at Kit, who was still sleeping peacefully on the hospital bed. “I want to ask her for her permission...” he said in a low voice. Jiro stood up from his seat, and put his arm around him. “Even if you ask for her blessing, she won't say anything. Besides, you two were never together, why ask her if you can date other girls...” Jiro said. Danson shook his head at him. “No, you got it all wrong. I would like to ask her permission if I could take care of Hannah this time. She have always been looking after her, and Hannah considers her as her closest friend. I just want to ask if it's OK for me to do the things I did for her to Hannah...” Calvin smiled. He stood up from he seat and went to Danson. “No need to ask for her permission, Danson. I know Kit could hear you right now, and she's happy that you found the girl who can love you and you can love whole-heartedly.” he said. Danson looked at Calvin and smiled at him. “Do you guys... think.. that I will have my chance with her? Do you think she feels the same way for me?” he asked. “Wei, what did I tell you before, Danson? For sure, Hannah feels the same way for you, but of course, you should be the one who should make the first move to her. So, I think you should get going and be with your lady love.” Chun said. Danson smiled at him, and nodded his head. “I think I should I don't want to keep her waiting...” he said as he stood up. He took the bouquet of flowers from the table, and took a deep breath. “Well, this is it. Wish me luck!” Danson said. He said goodbye to his friends, and then left the room. After he left, Joy came inside the room, and noticed that Danson was holding a bouquet of roses. “Where is he going?” she asked the boys. “He have a hot date tonight.” Jiro answered. “Isn't his date supposed to be you?” Joy asked him. Upon hearing her question, Calvin and Chun burst out laughing. Jiro doesn't know if he'll be amused at Joy, or he will get irritated because she believes that he really is gay. “I turned him down. I told him I'm eying some other guy...” he said as he rolled his eyes. Then he folded his arms as he gave her a playful look. “And besides, I thought you wouldn't care if I become gay?” he said. Joy smirked at Jiro, and folded her arms as she faced him. “Fine... if that's what you say... I guess it wouldn't hurt if I tell Hannah that the love of her life is gay, right?” she said. Before Jiro could answer back, Joy turned her back on him and left the room. “She's not serious about telling Hannah that Danson is gay, right?” Chun asked worriedly at the two guys. Calvin just shrugged his shoulder. “I dont know. If she does, then the situation between Hannah and Danson will be more complicated.” Calvin said. “Well, basing on the way she looked, she seems to be serious, so it's most likely that she will tell Hannah that Danson is gay.” Jiro said. After saying that, it sinked it to Jiro that Joy is really serious. He looked at the two with his eyes wide open. “She will tell Hannah!” he exclaimed. “Then, why don't you chase after her and tell her that we were just playing around with them?” Chun said. “Because if you won't, it will be all your fault for ruining Danson's perfect night.” Calvin said. Jiro nodded his head, and then followed Joy outside the room. -- Danson helped Hannah as she sat on the table. She looked around and smiled to herself. “Nice restaurant... I like the place.” she said to Danson. Danson smiled at her as he took his seat. “Thanks.” he said. “So... what time does your crush will be coming? I find it a little weird that you would pick me up instead of that girl.” she said. “She will be here any time now. So, why don't we order while we're waiting for her?” he said. Hannah smiled and nodded her head. During dinner, Hannah felt at ease. She kept looking at the door, and she felt her heart beats faster whenever a girl enters the restaurant. She would think that it would be Danson's other date tonight. She is enjoying Danson's company, and she would very much like it if it would be just him and her tonight. She wanted to spend more time with Danson, and beside, it would be much easier for her to confess to Danson if there are no interruptions. “Wei...” she heard Danson say to her. “Why do you keep on staring at the door. Aren't you enjoying my company?” he asked. Hannah gave him a faint smile and shook her head. “I am... It's just... is your date coming or not?” she asked. Danson just smiled at her. “Later, she will. But for now, let's enjoy our dessert, OK?” he said. Hannah nodded her head. She took a piece of her chocolate cake, and ate it. Then, she secretly glanced at Danson, and saw him munching on his chocolate cake. She smiled to herself, and decided that she should tell Danson now before his real date would come up. “Uhmmm... Dan...” she called. Danson paused, and looked up at her. “I... I want to tell you something...” she said. “Can it wait?” he asked. She shook her head. “What is it that you want to tell me?” he asked. “B-before I tell you, can... can you first tell me who is the girl that we were waiting for? The one you really liked?” she asked. Danson leaned towards the table, and then smiled at her. “Her? Hmmm... later. I'll tell you about her.” he said. “But Danson, I have to know...” “You'll meet her later, don't worry.” “But I want to know her, who she is... because what I will tell you depends on what I'm going to tell you.” Danson sighed, and smiled at him. Then, he stod up from his seat, and then reached out his hand to her. “If you insist on knowing who she is, then come with me.” he said. Hannah gave him a confused look. She took his hand, and let him lead her to the garden. “Is she here?” she asked as they were walking through the garden. Danson nodded his head. “You bet she is!” he said. Hannah looked up at him, and saw him smiling happily at her. She looked around the garden, and saw that there were no other people around, except for them. “Where is she?” she asked. She walked away from him, still trying to look for the girl that Danson liked. “I'm staring at her right now...” Danson said. Hannah paused, then he looked back at Danson. As she looked at him, he saw her staring at him. She swallowed hard as he walked towards her. The more he gets closer to her, the more she could hear her heart beating faster. “W-who?” she asked again. Danson paused, and then let out a laugh. “I said, the girl I liked is the one that I'm staring at right now.” he said. She still could not believe at what he said. She looked around to see if there are any other girl that Danson is staring at. In the end, she realized that they were really alone in the garden, and Danson only had his eyes on her. “M-me?” she asked nervously as she pointed at herself. Danson smiled lovingly at her, and nodded his head. “It has always been you...” he said. Danson stared at her for a long time. He readied himself for his love confession, but now that he is standing before her, and staring into her mesmerizing eyes, he suddenly forgot all the things that he was supposed to her. He opened his mouth to speak, but no words ever came out of his mouth. “I... I was supposed to have my speech, but I was too caught up by you, that I forgot what I'm supposed to say...” he said nervously. Hannah let out a nervous laugh upon hearing what he said. “You're not really good at this, Danson...” she said. Danson nodded in agreement. “How do I start...” “Start with how you really feel. You wouldn't go wrong with that.” Then, Danson took Hannah's hands, and then stared into her eyes again. “I love you.” he began. “I knew that I have always been in love you. I thought before that I am in love with Kit, but that wasn't the case. Because if I were, I would have gotten affected when I found out that she is in love with Calvin, and that she got together with Jiro. I guess I was too stubborn to admit how I feel for you, although I am being to obvious with the way I feel towards you.” he said. He paused, and let out a nervous laugh. “Whenever I'm with you, I feel very happy. The mere though of parting ways with you makes me feel so sad... and each time that I'm not with you, I always think of you. I love picking on you and bullying you because I love the way you looked when you're mad at me. At the same time, I love it whenever you smile at me. I feel special whenever you look my way. When you look at other guys, especially Calvin, I feel very jealous. I love the sound of your laughter, your sweet voice, the way you play my favorite song on the piano. I love it when you're worried about me, the way you care for me. I love it when you listen to me whenever I tell you what's inside my mind. I love it when you always advice me, when you tell me that I am a sissy, when you call me a loser or a freakingly stupid guy. I love it when we talk over the phone during the wee hours of the night and I could hear you snoring. I love it when you get mad at me over MSN. I love it when you sing for me, when you coo me like I'm a little baby. I love it when you hit my arm, or whack me in the head, even though it takes days before the pain of it subsides. I love it when you always turn to me when you needed someone to cry to. I love taking care of you. I love...” Danson shook her head, and then faced her again. “I just love everything about you. I can tell you all the reasons why I love you, and it would take me years or decades to finish. Believe me, I can't help but love you... and if I said too much, I'm sorry, but I don't regret a single word I said.” he said to her. Hannah smiled at him and shook her head. “You didn't say too much, Danson. The truth is, I love hearing the sound of your voice. I wouldn't mind listening you talk, and tell me what you love about me.” she said. Danson moved closer to her, and then cupped her cheek. “Hannah, is it OK if I call you mine?” he asked. Hannah laughed at his corny lines. She nodded her head, and smiled at him. “Yes, Danson. I'm yours.” she said. Danson's smile widened upon hearing Hannah's answer. “Does that mean that...” Hannah nodded her head. “You're a freakingly stupid guy, but I love you anyway. You're such a loser, but you are my loser...” she said. Danson laughed at what she said. He lifted up her chin, as he looked at her lovingly, he moved closer to her. He closed her eyes as their lips finally met, sharing that long and loving kiss with the girl he loved the most. After he kissed her, Danson let her go, and gave her a wondering look. “So, what is it that you want to tell me?” he asked. Hannah put her arms around her neck, and smiled at him. “Everything that you told me... it's exactly I want to tell you. I love you too, Danson.” she said. Danson smiled at her, and let her rest her head on his shoulder as he hugged her tight. -- The following week at the airport... “I'm going to miss you...” Danson said as he put down Hannah's luggage. Hannah looked at him, and saw the sadness in his eyes. This is one of the reasons why he didn't want him to drive her to the airport, because it will only sadden her when she looks into his sad eyes. “I promise to come home every vacation.” she assured him. Danson smiled, and nodded his head. “I promise to save up money so I could visit you in Vienna. Promise me you won't look at any guys out there, OK?” he said. Hannah laughed at what he said. “As long as you keep your promise of not looking at other girls while I'm gone.” she said. Danson smiled and nodded his head. “I will.” he said. He walked towards Hannah, and gave her a hug. Hannah leaned her head on his shoulder, then he felt him kiss her on her forehead. “Always remember that my love will always be with you, wherever you are. When you feel sad, or scared, always think me. I will be with you, supporting you in every way. I will be here, waiting for the day until you return to me. If that day comes, I swear I will never let you leave my side anymore...” Danson whispered to her. Hannah looked up at him, and smiled at him. The tears were cascading from her eyes. It was getting harder on her part to leave this man who was holding her. “I will miss you, Danson. I will miss you... Always remember that I love you. I love you with all my heart. My heart will always be with you, now until forever.” she said. Danson leaned towards her, and gave her a long kiss on the lips. “Write me long letters, Danson... write me long letters...” Hannah said. Danson smiled and nodded his head. “I know things will be hard for the two of us. But I want this to work... for us... promise me no matter what happens, you will hold on to our love, because I will... and I have no plans of letting you go.” he said. Hannah smiled, and nodded his head. Then, Danson took something from his bag, and handed it to Hannah. It was a small toy piano. “This is something I want to give you, so that you will always remember me. With this piano is my heart, and my love for you. When you play this little piano, always think of me, OK?” he said. “I sure will, Danson. I hope, one day, I could write a song for you... to express how much you mean to me, and how much I love you.” she said. “I'll be waiting for that, Hannah. I will wait till you finish that song. I want to be the first one who'll be able to hear it once you're finished with that song.” he said. Hannah reached up to Danson and kissed him for the last time. “This is it. I have to go now...” she said. Danson nodded his head. He it his lips, trying his bet not to cry in front of Hannah. He have to show her that he is strong, because if he breaks down in front of her, he might ask her to stay. He doesn't want her to stay back because of him. He knows that Hannah have a dream, and she worked very hard to chase it. As long as Hannah is happy with what she's doing, he's happy for her as well. He only wanted her happiness, and he have no right to stop her from going back to Vienna to chase her dream of becoming a well-known pianist. “Don't look back at me after you leave. I might chase you and make you stay here in Taipei.” he said. Hannah let out a faint laugh at what he said. She took her luggage, and then slowly walked away from him. She felt the tears falling nonstop from her eyes. She paused as she wiped away those tears. She wanted to look back at him, but she chose not to look back, because it would be much harder for her. With every step she takes, her heart felt as heavy as her feet. She have to leave the man she loves for her life long dream, but she knows that it won't be too long and they will be together once again. “Goodbye, Danson. I'll see you soon...” she whispered. She clutched on the handle on her luggage, and began to walk away from him again. Danson stood in his place as he watched the girl he loves leave him once again. As he closed his eyes, a tear fell from his eyes. “It won't be long, Hannah... Just a few more years, and you'll come back to me...” he thought. He turn his back to leave, and let all of the tears fall from his eyes. -- There is nothing sadder in this life than to watch someone you love walk away after they have left you. To watch the distance between your two bodies expand until there is nothing left but empty space... and silence -- And their story will start from here... |

“Joy! Wait up!” Jiro called as he ran towards Joy outside the hospital. Joy smiled to herself, then she paused, and faced him. Jiro was able to reach Joy, and as he held her, he panted. “You... please... not...” he said in between pants. “What are you trying to say?” Joy said, giving him a confused look. Jiro composed himself. He took a deep breath, and then face Joy. “Please do not tell Hannah that Danson is gay.”
“Why shouldn't I tell her? She have the right to know!”
“Because it's a lie.”
“Lie? Weren't you guys flirting?”
“We were just playing around.”
“I don't think you guys are just playing around...”
Joy smirked at him as she folded her arms. “Why, Jiro? Are you tired having girlfriends, that you decided to 'experiment' with boys now?” she said to him. Jiro took a deep breath and glared at Joy. She sure knows how to tick him off. “I said we were just joking around, Joy. Why are you taking things seriously?” he said. “Because I've caught you twice flirting around with Danson.” she said. “He was just practicing his speech for tonight! Tonight, he is going to propose to Hannah. I was just helping him out!” Jiro said. Joy paused, and just looked blankly at him. “Really?” she asked. Jiro nodded his head. “It's a good thing that I stopped you, or you might've ruined everything for them. This is the perfect moment for the two of them, and I'm sure you want your friends to be happy, right? So cut it out. Nobody is gay.” he said. Jiro turned his back on her, and began to walk away from him. Joy looked at him, and folded her arms again. “I can believe that Danson is not gay, but how sure I am that you aren't?” she said. Jiro paused, and closed his eyes. His patience with his ex-girlfriend is starting to run out. He faced her again and gave her a glare. “I am not gay.” he said as he walked towards her. Joy just gave him a smirk. “Really? Then prove it.” she said. Jiro shook his head in anger. Joy is really provoking him, and she will finally get it. He moved closer to her, and put his hands over her shoulder. He stared at her for a long time, and then pulled her to him. Joy didn't expect the next thing that Jiro did - he kissed her on the lips for a long time. After a while, Jiro pushed Joy away from him, and then smirked at her. “That's enough proof, right? So, do you think I am a real man, or still gay?” he asked. Joy was still shocked with what Jiro did to her. Her jaw dropped as she looked at her. She tried to speak, but she was too shock that nothing came out of her mouth.
It was Jiro's turn to smirk at her. “See? I think, next time, you should try not to jump into conclusions so that you wouldn't get yourself in trouble.” he said. Then, he turned his back, and left Joy alone. Joy could only watch Jiro as he leaves. She sighed, and shook her head. “Why am I getting affected with his kiss? As if this is the first time he kissed me!” she thought. She sighed again, and then went on her way. She needs to rest, maybe if she did, it would take her mind off his kiss.

Jiro entered Kit's room, and found Calvin alone. “Hey...” he said in a low voice. Calvin looked up at him, and smiled at him. “Hey...” he said. He noticed the sad expression in Jiro's face. “Anything wrong?” Calvin asked. Jiro gave him a faint smile, and shook his head. “I'm OK...” he said. Then, Calvin stood up from his seat, and walked towards him. “I'll go and get something to eat for a while. Watch over Kit for me, all right?” he said. Jiro nodded his head, and then watched Calvin as he left the room. He took Calvin's seat, and then he stared into Kit's face. He sighed as he took Kit's hand. “I did something wrong today...” he said to her. “I know I shouldn't have kissed Joy, but she provoked me. She's insisting that I am gay, although I am not. I kissed her prove to her that I am a real man, but when I kissed her, I felt guilty. I shouldn't have done that to her...” He sighed again, and leaned towards her bed. “Do you think she would forgive me if I apologize to her? I know what I did is harsh, and must have hurt her in some ways... but you know, when I kissed her, I felt... satisfied. It's been a long time since I did that to her, and I felt happy. Not that I want to take advantage of her, OK? But you see...”
Jiro paused. He let go of her hand, and then looked away from Kit. “I know it's wrong. I still love her, Kit. I still do... It's just that I was hurt when she chose to be with Calvin than to wait for me. All I was asking was time to forget all about you, but she couldn't wait for me. Then, you came into my life. When I saw you again, I did love you... but I know there was this little piece of my heart that was loving her although we're together, and I felt guilty because of that. I guess all of us were feeling that way to the person we first loved... I was able to forget her for a while... but now that we're getting closer, I couldn't help but fall in love with her all over again. I don't know what to do... I love Joy, but I can't ask her to come back to me. She wanted to think our story's over, and I badly wanted to continue where we left off. Tin... I'm scared that one day, she will find another man that she will love. I wouldn't be able to accept that anymore. I want to be with her... but I don't think she would ever give me another chance.” He looked at Kit and then let out a weak laugh. “I think I'm getting crazy, talking to you and all. I know you can hear me... and I know that you will whack me in the head because of what I am saying. Tin... wake up soon... please... I need you... we all need you. We all need your advice. We need to hear what you've got to say with our situation. I miss you, Tin... please wake up...” he said. Jiro held her hand, then buried his head on her arm. The tears began to fall from his eyes, as he pleaded her to wake up.
What Jiro didn't know is that Calvin came back into the room, and heard everything that he said. He turned his gaze away from him, and leaned on the wall. “I'm right, he still loves Joy...” he thought. He sighed as he closed his eyes. “I know Hannah and Danson are doing OK now... Kit... I know you also want me to fix things between Joy and Jiro. I know you would ask me this favor if you're awake... For the sake of their happiness, I will do my best to get them back together. I just wish that after I do this good deed, God would hear my prayer and that you would wake up soon...” he said to himself. Then, he opened his eyes, and took a look at Jiro and Kit. He smiled to himself before leaving the room.

A few weeks later...
Joy went inside her favorite flower shop before going to the hospital. “Another bouquet of peach roses?” the lady boss asked her as soon as she saw her. Joy smiled at her and shook her head. “I'll look around for a while. I'll see if there are any other flowers that my friend would like.” she said. The lady boss smiled, and nodded her head at her, and let Joy look around the shop. At one corner, she saw a bunch of pink tulips arranged in a big vase. She walked towards those flowers. As she reached to take a stem of tulips, she heard the door of the shop open. “Good morning!” she heard a familiar voice say. Joy paused, and then swallowed hard. She did not looked back at that person, because she didn't want to see him yet.
“Oh, it's you!” Joy heard the lady boss said. “Boss, can I get a dozen of white lilies this time?” the man said. “OK. Please wait while I arrange it.” the lady boss said. “You're here too, I see...” the man said. Joy looked back, and saw Jiro walking towards him. After their kiss the day before, she decided to keep her distance from him. It's not that she got confused with her feelings after he kissed her, but because she's too vulnerable right now, that she knows that Jiro could easily read her, especially her true feelings. “Oh... you're here too?” she asked nervously. Jiro smiled and nodded her head. “I have to buy some flowers for my date today.” he said. Joy swallowed hard again after hearing what he said. “O-oh...” she said. Her voice was already cracking as she speaks. “Y-you have a date tonight, huh? T-that's... that's really great...” she said. She was trying her best not to break down in front of him. Of course, it did hurt her, to know that Jiro would be going out on a date with another girl. Not that he have no right to date other girls, Jiro have the right to be happy and be in love, but she was hoping that maybe Jiro would come back to her. Joy gave him a weak smile, and nodded her head. “I... I think any... girl... would love to get flowers from... from a guy like you. I... I think she... she would like it.” she said.
Joy turned away from him, and Jiro looked closely at her. He saw that faint smile slowly disappearing from her pretty face. “Are you OK, Joy?” he asked. Joy looked at him again, and smiled at him. “I am. Really. I... I guess I was a little surprised that you finally decided to go out on a date?” she stuttered. Jiro gave her a confused look. “You don't want me to go out on a date?” he asked. “No!” she exclaimed. She sighed, and then shook her head. “No... I... I never thought that... that... you could easily move on like this...” she said in a more calm tone. Jiro let out a faint laugh, then he smiled at her. “After all the things that have happened among us, I think it's about time that all of us should move on. I decided to move on. I know it's the best for me...” he said. “So... so you're saying, it's about time for me to move on as well?” Joy asked. Jiro paused, and then stared at her for along time. The mere thought of Joy dating another guy make him unable to breathe. “Y-yeah...” he answered. “I mean, you're not tied down to anyone. You can go and enjoy your life as a single woman.” he said. Joy smiled and nodded her head. “I... I'll take your advice...” she said.
Just then, the lady boss came up to them, and handed Jiro the bouquet of white lilies. “I... I have to go...” Joy told him. Jiro smiled at her, and nodded her head. She rushed out of the shop, leaving Jiro watching her as she leaves. “If you love her, why didn't you chase after her?” he heard the lady boss said. Jiro gave her a surprised look. “W-what do you mean?” he asked. The lady gave him a warm smile. “Son, I've been doing this business all my life, and I could tell if two people who comes into this shop loves each other or not. You bought those white lilies, and I assumed it would be for that girl. Why are you telling her that it's for your date all of a sudden? Can't you see how hurt she is when you told her that?” she said. Jiro sighed as he lowered his head. He doesn't know how to explain to her about how he feels for her, and how things are complicated between them. “If you will tell me that same old cliché that it's complicated, I won't believe you.” the lady boss said. Jiro gave her another surprised look. “It's not complicated. You're only scared that she will reject you if you tell her how you feel. Don't you think it's about time that you take a risk with her? At least you let her know that you do love her...”

Jiro looked up at the lady boss, and then saw her smile at him. “Don't lose this chance to be with her. One day, you might regret it, and she'll be out of your life. Tell her you love her.” she said. Jiro smiled at her, and nodded his head.

“Stop it!” Chun shouted at Calvin, as Calvin was strangling him. While Calvin was strangling him, Danson was trying to pull Calvin away from him. “You stupid guy! Why did you set Jiro up for a date!” he shouted at him. As soon as Danson successfully pulled Calvin away from Chun, he saw Chun was almost blue because of what Calvin did. He suppressed his laughter as he looked at him. “What? Jiro doesn't have the right to date now?” Chun snapped at him. “You are ruining my plans, Chun. I suggest that you tell that girl not to show up, or else...” Calvin said. Chun stood up from his seat, and gave him a viscious smile. “Maybe I do have plans as well. Too bad, I don't think we have the same idea...”
“Chun! Stop this nonsense! Cancel their dates, will you?”
“I won't. I want Jiro to be happy. If this is what makes him happy, then I'll support him.”
“You are making things more complicated!”
Chun just gave him another smile. “I think I'm just making things more exciting.” he said. Then, he turned to leave the room. Calvin took a step to follow him, but Danson stopped him again. “Calvin, let him be.” he said. “We all know Chun. He does stupid things, but sometimes those stupid things seems to be meaningful in the end. Trust him in this one, OK?” he said. Calvin looked at Danson, and sighed. “Fine... if that's what you say... but I Jiro and Joy...”
“Cal, do you think we should not meddle between them, unless they asked for it?”
“That's the thing. How can I not meddle when I both of them are still in love with each other, but are afraid to say it?”
Calvin folded his arms as he faced Danson. “Jiro still loves Joy, but he was afraid of being rejected. Joy still loves Jiro, but she was keeping silent about it. I don't know if it's because we just broke up, or because she's afraid to try again... but I think those two needs help to get back together.” he said. Danson patted his shoulder, and smiled at him. “You know, if Kit is awake right now...” he said. “I think she'll help Chun with his plans. I think you should go and support Chun, because I think he also wants to see our two friends happy.”

That afternoon, Calvin went to the Jin's house to get some of Kit's clothes. As he sat on Kit's bed to gather her things, she noticed a folded paper lying at the back of the picture frame. “What's this?” he thought as he took the paper. He saw Jiro's name written on it. He began to unfold the paper, and saw that it was Kit's letter for Jiro, and she wrote it the day before she got shot. He carefully read it's contents, and as he finished it, he smiled to himself. He folded the paper again, and then put it inside his pocket. He took out his mobile phone, and dialed Danson's number. “Hey, Danson... I found something in Kit's room...” he said. Then, he smiled as he began to tell Danson the letter he found in.

“Thank you for tonight...” Jiro said after he stopped the engine of his car. Vivian, his date, turned to him, and smiled. “Thank you for the date, Jiro...” she said. Jiro smiled at him, and then nodded his head. “You know, Jiro... ever since I laid my eyes on you at the uni, I had a huge crush on you. I'm glad that you agreed to go out on a date with me...” she said. “Well, I guess it's part of my moving on process. I need to go out once in a while and mingle...” he said. Vivian laughed at what he said. “But tell me, do you really want to go out with other girls?” she asked. Jiro fell silent at her question, and just stared at her. “I mean, are you sure that you want to forget about Kit, or Joy?” Vivian asked again. Jiro sighed, and then looked away from her. “I've seen how happy you are when you are with Joy before. To tell you honestly, when you started going out with Kit, I observed that you weren't as happy like when you were dating Joy...”

Vivian smiled at him, and shook her head. “If you are happy with Kit before, why am I hearing Joy's name all the time?” she asked again. “I know you love Joy very much, Jiro. I know you still do. Why don't you try and win her back?” she said. “What if I don't stand a chance?”
“The Jiro that I have liked for so long is a fighter, a risk-taker. If he wants something, hell go for it. Why are you being scared now?”
“A lot of things have happened between me and Joy. I don't think I could bring up the past...”
“You don't need to bring up the past. How about starting all over again, from the scratch? Learn from the past mistakes you did. Try and not to do it again when you start a relationship with her.”
“She just broke up with Calvin... and I don't think she's ready to jump into another relationship. Especially with me. I've hurt her before...”
“Are you scared that you will hurt her again?”
Jiro looked at Vivian, and slowly nodded her head. “You know what, I think you have learned from the past. I think now, you're being more careful with every decisions that you made. I don't think you would be able to hurt her again. I can see that you still love Joy. If you think that she's not ready to give you her heart again, then give her time. Take it one step at a time. Maybe one day, she will open up her heart to you.” Vivian said.
With what Vivian said, Jiro was enlightened. “She's right...” he thought. He have to let Joy know that he still love her, if he doesn't want to lose her again. Jiro gave Vivian another smile. “Thanks for the advice...” he said. “Aiyo, Jiro... what are friends for? And besides, I have to tell you off because our topic for the whole night is Joy and your past. I'm just giving you a little push, so better court her again.” she said. Jiro laughed as he nodded his head. “I think I will.” he said. After saying goodbye to Jiro, Vivian got out of his car, and watched as Jiro left. As soon as he is out of sight, Vivian took her phone, and dialed Chun's number. “Hello? Chun? It's me, Vivian...” she said. Then, she smiled to herself. “Your plan is a success. And you owe me a date this Saturday...”

Jiro entered Kit's room, and found Calvin sitting beside her bed. “You wanted to talk to me?” he asked as he walked towards him. Calvin looked up at him, and nodded his head. “We have to talk. About Kit...” he said. Jiro looked at Kit, and smiled to himself. “We already broke up. When she wakes up, the choice is hers if she wants to be with you. I know she would...” he said as he watched Kit. Then, he looked at Calvin again, and smiled. “I know she would be happy if she founds out that you have loved her for so long. And I'll be the happiest guy if she ends up with the man she really loves. You really don't have to do anything to win her heart, because you had her heart from the start.” Jiro said. “I don't want to think about me and Kit yet. I do have plans if she wakes up, but that won't be any sooner, I know. What I wanted to talk about is your promise to her...” Calvin said. He stood up from his seat, then took something from the table. He handed Kit's letter to Jiro.
Jiro took the letter, and stared at it for a long time. Then, he looked up at Calvin, confused at what it's all about. “I'm sorry if I read your letter. She wrote it a day before she got shot. Call it intuition, but I think she could sense this would happen to her, so she wrote you that letter. I think you should read it, then maybe you would be able to understand what I'm talking about.” Calvin said. Jiro unfolded the paper in his hand, and began to read it's contents.

I'm sorry for everything. I'm sorry if I hurt you and broke your heart. I'm sorry that I can't love you because of Calvin. She was holding a bouquet of flowers on her one hand, and a card that goes with it on the other hand. “For the most beautiful girl I have ever me, from your secret admirer.” it read. She looked up at Jiro, and saw him happily chatting with Danson. “Did Jiro sent these flowers?” she thought again. She saw Jiro looked up at him, and caught her staring at him. “Ooohh, flowers, huh? Is that for Kit?” Jiro asked. Joy shook her head. “It's for me.” she answered. “Secret admirer?” he asked. Joy nodded her head. Then, she gave him a suspicious look. “Wei, Jiro. Maybe you're the one who sent me this flowers?” she said. Jiro just laughed at what she said. “Why would I give you flowers, we're not even dating...” he said. Then, he turned to Danson and smiled. Joy felt her heart breaking at what he said. She was wishing that this secret admirer is Jiro, much to her disappointment. “Oh...” she said in a disappointed tone. “Why am I hoping that it's him? For sure, he enjoyed his date a few days ago with someone I don't know... guess all this time, Jiro have moved on...” she thought sadly. “And besides, if there's a person in this room that I would give flowers to, It's going to be Kit.” Jiro added. Joy looked up at him. “So, you still like Kit, huh?” she asked. Jiro simply smiled at her. “I promised her I would never let her go.” he said.
Joy looked sadly at the girl who was sleeping peacefully on her bed. “But... she and Calvin... why do still love her? Why can't you love me again?” she thought. “Whoever this secret admirer is, I think you should give this guy a chance. Maybe he's the one meant for you.” Jiro said. Joy looked at him again, and then took a deep breath. “Are you out of your mind?!” she shouted at him. Jiro was surprised at what she did. “Calvin and I just broke up! And you want me to date a total stranger?!” she shouted at him again. Jiro smiled and let out a nervous laugh. “You're still not over the break up, aren't you?” he asked. This time, Joy glared at him. “I am over the breakup! I am the one who broke it off with Calvin, remember?” she shouted at him again. “Then, why not give this guy a chance? Who knows, this time, it would work out between the two of you.” he asked again. Joy composed herself by sighing, and then gave him a smirk. “You're right. I think I should give this guy a chance. I will give him a chance, as long as it's not you!” she said. Then, she threw the flowers on the floor, and stormed out of the room.
Jiro took a deep breath as he watched Joy leave the room. He stood up from his seat, and then took the flowers on the floor. “I think you've gone overboard, Jiro...” Danson said. Jiro just shook his head. “I know, and I don't regret it.” Jiro said. Then, he stood up and smiled at him. “I may have gone overboard, but at least I learned that she will give me a chance.” he said. Then, he winked at Danson.

Joy went out of the room, and as she walked, she was stomping her feet. “Stupid Jiro! Why is he pushing me over to that guy? I guess he really don't love me anymore!” she muttered under her breath. She was too caught up with her thought, that she didn't realize that she bumped into someone. She looked up, and saw Chun in front of her. “Oh... I'm sorry... I didn't notice you...” she said. Chun just smiled at her. “It's OK, Joy. It seems that you are in your deep thoughts that you didn't notice me.” Chun said. Joy sighed, and then went on her way. As she walked away, Chun was observing her. “Anything wrong?” he asked. Joy paused, and then looked at him. “Jiro...” she said in a sad tone. Chun gave her a confused look. “What about Jiro?” he asked. “I think he's still in love with Kit. I mean, he's the one who's preaching about moving on and letting go, then in the end he still wants to end up with Kit.” she said. Chun got even more confused because of what she said. “Wait, wait. I didn't get it. Jiro wants to get back with Kit?” he asked. Joy slowly nodded her head. “It's obvious to me that he still loves Kit...” she said in a low voice.
Chun sighed and shook his head. He was very sure that Jiro still loves Joy, but what's the deal with him still liking Kit? “Are you really sure he said that?” Chun asked. “Well, he didn't... but when I showed him the flowers I got today from a so-called secret admirer, and asked him if he's the one who sent it to me, he said that the only person he would give those flowers to would be Kit... and worse... he said that maybe I should give this guy a chance to prove that I'm over Calvin.” she said. Chun smiled, and then folded his arms as he looked at her. “Joy, how well do you know Jiro?” he asked. Joy paused, and then she slowly lowered her head, not answering his question. “Do you think Jiro would say one thing and not do it?” he asked again. Joy just shrugged her shoulder. “Maybe Jiro says one thing, but he mean another. Maybe he is already over Kit. Didn't you realize that?” he asked again. This time, Joy looked up at him, and Chun could see the confusion in her eyes. “How about you, Joy... when you got those flowers, didn't you wish that it's really Jiro who gave you those flowers?” he asked. Joy nodded her head. “You're right... I was hoping those flowers came from him... that he would woo me again... that we could be together again. If it's not Jiro, then I wouldn't want anyone else in my life. I'd rather be alone for the rest of my life if I don't end up with him.” she said in a low voice.
Then, she looked up at Chun, and saw him smiling at her. “Do you think Jiro gave those flowers?” she asked. Chun just shrugged his shoulder. “I don't know. Maybe it did came from another guy. But one thing's for sure. Jiro is not in love with Kit anymore. He have long accepted that Calvin will always be in her heart. If he decided to move on, it's because he wanted to be happy. He also wanted you to be happy in the arms of someone who could give you the love you've always wanted.” he said. Joy turned away from him, and then looked down at the floor. “The only love I've wanted is Jiro's love... I don't want anything else...” she said. She heard Chun sigh, and felt his arm around her shoulder. “If you love him, do you think it's about time that you tell him how you feel before it's too late?” he said. Joy looked up at him again. “There are a lot of girls trying to win his heart. Maybe he'll give a chance to one of those girls. Before you knew it, he's already with another girl.” Chun said. Joy smiled and nodded her head.

It was her birthday the next day. Joy was about to get out of her house and go to the hospital, when she saw a delivery man standing by her door. “Ms. Joy Lin?” he asked. Joy gave him a confused look. “Yes, I am Joy Lin.” she said. Then, the delivery man gave her a box, and a bouquet of pink tulips. She was very surprised when she got those things. “Who... who sent these?” she asked. The delivery man just smiled at her. “You'll find out from the card on the flowers.” he said. After she signed the papers, she went back inside the pad, and then opened the box. Inside, she saw a blue, off-shoulder dress and a pair of black stiletto. “Why would anyone give me a new pair of shoes and a new dress?” she said. Then, she took the flowers, and took the card on it.

“Should I go?” she thought after reading the note. “i don't even know who this guy is. What if he's a pervert or something?” she said to herself. She sighed, and then threw the card on the table. She wanted to come to the dinner, out of curiosity. But she's scared that something bad would happen to her if she does. “i think it would be much safer if I won't come to this dinner.” she thought. Anyway, she didn't want to end up calling any of the boys if she got herself in danger. Then, she smiled to herself. As she stood up to leave, her phone rang. She immediately answered it. “Hello?” she said.
“Did you receive the gift I sent to you?” she heard the man on the other line said. Joy paused, and the stared at the box lying on the couch. “I did. Are you my secret admirer?” she asked. “I will meet you at Le Coeur's later tonight.” the man on the other line said. “I'm sorry, but I'm not going. Besides, I don't know who you are.” she said. “You will know who I am later. I'll see you tonight at 8 PM.” Before she could answer back, the man ended the call. She put the phone down, and stared at it for a long time. “Wow... he's such a a bossy admirer...” she thought. Then, she looked at the box and the pink tulips on the couch. “No matter what you say or what you do, I will not go to that dinner tonight.”

Joy opened the door of Kit's room, and as she walked inside, she heard the four boys talking loudly. “Really? So you mean to say the two of you will go out again?” she heard Calvin said. As she walked closer to them, she saw Jiro smiling and nodding his head. “We hit it off on our first date. I guess it's OK if me and Vivian go out tonight again, right?” he said. The three nodded in agreement. At what Jiro said, Joy felt her hear breaking into a million pieces. She could not accept that Jiro have finally moved on, while she was still hoping for him to come back to her. What hurts the most is that she learned about it today, on her birthday.
“You... you're going out on a date again?” she asked him. The four looked up at her, surprised to see her around. “You heard?” Danson asked. Joy slowly nodded her head. Jiro smiled at her. Then, he stood up from his seat, and walked towards her. “You wouldn't mind if I go out on a date again tonight, right?” he asked. Joy looked up at him, and stared at him for a long time. She could see the happiness in his eyes, and sadly, it seems that his happiness does not include her anymore. “I... I don't mind, really...” she said. Calvin looked at Joy, then he suddenly remembered that today was her birthday. “Wait. It's your birthday tonight, right? I guess you also have plans...” Calvin said. Joy smiled weakly and nodded her head. “I... I have a date...” she said. Then, she looked up at Jiro. “With my secret admirer.” she continued. She was expecting Jiro to be jealous or be sad, but she was surprised when he smiled at her. “Then, that's great! I'm glad that you finally realized what I was telling you before.” he said. Then, he put his arms around her as he faced their friends. “Isn't it great? Joy will finally meet her secret admirer on her birthday?” he asked them. The three smiled and nodded their heads. “It's a very happy birthday for Joy.” Chun said.
Then, the three stood up from their seats. “Hey, you have a lot of things to do for your date tonight. You want Vivian to be your girlfriend before the night ends, right?” Calvin said. Jiro smiled at him, and nodded his head. “You... you're going to propose to... to that girl... tonight?” Joy asked. “Yes, I am. I really want to be with her.” he said. Joy turned away from him. She was trying to fight back the tears that was about to fall from her eyes. She couldn't let Jiro see her crying, and hurt like this. She wanted him to be happy, and if Jiro would see her cry, she knows she would only be holding him back, and would make him feel guilty. She also want her friends to think that everything is OK between her and Jiro, that's why she also doesn't want them to see her breakdown. “I... I see...” she said in a low voice. She turned to face him, and then forced a happy smile on her face. “Well, good luck. I hope you and Vivian would be together. J-just remember to introduce her to us when she becomes your girlfriend.” she said. Jiro smiled and nodded her head. While Joy and Jiro was talking, Chun couldn't help but laugh. He was trying his best to stop himself from laughing, but Calvin noticed him, and nudged him. If only Joy knew what's in store for her tonight, then she wouldn't be this sad. “Ssshhh...” Calvin told him as he gave him the quiet sign. Chun just smiled at him, and nodded his head.
They said goodbye to Joy, and left her in the room alone. As soon as she all by herself, the tears could help but fall from her eyes. She sat beside Kit's bed, and then buried her head on her arms as she cried. She cried for a long time, and then she looked up at Kit. “Why does everything have to end this way, Kit? Why do I have to feel hurt again because of Jiro? Kit... I love him. I love him so much, and his moving on just breaks my heart. I can't bear seeing him with another girl... because I know every time that I will look at them, I will only wish that I was the one he's holding in his arms.. just like when you and Jiro were still together...” she said. Then, she took Kit's hand and held it. “I only wanted to be with Jiro. I only wanted his love. I don't think I could give anyone a space in my heart because of him. I lied to him, telling him that I'll be going out tonight with my secret admirer. The truth is... I don't have any plans to meet that guy... but I told him that because... because I got jealous... I know it's wrong for me to lie again. I don't want him to see this sadness that I'm feeling right now.” Joy let out a faint laugh as she wiped the tears in her eyes. “I'm sorry if I'm being too emotional right now. You can't blame me right? How I wish you are awake now so that I could hear you telling me that everything's going to be OK. For now, I'll be contented that you're listening to me while I cry my heart out....” she said.
What she didn't know was while she was talking to Kit, someone was listening to them. It was Calvin. As he peeked at her, he smiled to himself. “After tonight...” he thought. “Joy and Jiro will have their own happy ending as well...”

Later that night, Joy went to the restaurant where she is supposed to meet her secret admirer. As she entered the restaurant, she found it empty. She was wondering if the restaurant is already closed, or if her secret admirer rented the whole place so that they could be alone. “Good evening, you must be Ms. Joy Lin?” a waiter said as he came up to her. Joy nodded her head. The waiter smiled, and lead her on her way. “This way, please.” the waiter said. At the farther side, she saw a man sitting, and reading the menu. “Sir, Ms. Lin have arrived.” the waiter said. She saw the man stood up from his seat, and turn to face her. Joy was surprised to find out who it was – it is Jiro. “Y-you?!” she exclaimed. Jiro seemes amused at her reaction. He gave her his sexiest smile as he nodded his nodded. “It's me.” he said. Joy got confused with what's happening. She knows that Jiro is supposed to have a date tonight with Vivian, but here he is, standing before her. She felt mixed emotions building up inside her. She was happy that she could spend her birthday with the man she loves. She's confused because she didn't know what Jiro is doing here, and she was also thinking that this might be some kind of a joke. She looked up at him, and shook her head. “How... how come it's you?” she asked him. “That's why it's called a surprise...” Jiro answered. Joy sighed, not knowing what to do next. She turned her back on him, and then she ran as fast as she could outside the restaurant.
“Joy!” Jiro shouted as he ran after her. Outside, it was starting to rain. Joy didn't mind the rain falling down on her. She was confused now more than ever, and the only thing she could do to clear her mind is to run away from Jiro. “Joy! Stop! Please...” she heard him shout at her. Joy paused, and then she looked back at him. “Why does it have to be you? I thought you said you have moved on? Are playing some tricks on me again? You want me to fall for you again?” Joy shouted at him. Jiro stared at her as he walked closer to her. “Jiro... don't do anything to make me fall in love with you. Don't do something that will make me hope for nothing. I've had enough heartache, and it's the last thing I needed tonight...” she said as the tears started to fall from her eyes. Jiro didn't speak. All he gave her is a a warm smile, much to her irritation. “What? You're not going to say anything? Are you jut going to smile at me the whole night?” she asked him. Then, before she knew it, Jiro was standing too close to her. He was too close, that she could almost hear his heart beating. She looked up at him, and saw him staring into her eyes. He held her on her shoulder, and then, he leaned down to kiss her on the lips passionately. After their kiss, Joy slowly opened her eyes, and stared at her face. “W-what's that for?” she asked in a low voice. “Joy... words could not express how I truly feel for you. I love you, Joy. That's the plain truth...” he said. “B-but... Vivian? Aren't you dating her? And Kit? You... you said you promised her you will not leave her?” she asked again. “i did date Vivian, but she made me realize that there's nothing in this world that could make me happy that you. As for Kit, she will always be special to me. I promised her that I will never leave her. I will stay by her side as her friend. And most of all, I promised her that I will always make her happy. She asked me that the only thing that could make her happy is if I become true to my heart. I'm just following her wish. Before the accident, she told me that I should open my eyes, so that I could see that person who have been loving me all this time. I know that she's talking about you. She wants me to be with you. She wanted us to get back together.” he said.
He smiled at her, and then he cupped her cheek with his palm. As he looked into her eyes, his eyes was filled with tears. “I love you, Joy. My love for you is beyond anything in this world. I want to start a new story with you. I want to have this happy ending with you. Joy, will you give me another chance to love you again? If you aren't ready yet, if you think your heart needs more time to heal, I'm willing to wait for you. I assure you that my love will always be with you...” he said. Joy looked into his eyes, and smiled. Tears began to flood her eyes as she looked at him. She could not believe that everything she wished for, came true tonight on her birthday. “I've waited a long time for this, Jiro. I've waited for the day that you will come back to me. I only want to be with you, Jiro. You mean everything to me. Yes... I love you. And I want to take this chance with you again.” she said. Jiro smiled at her, then he leaned down to her. They stood under the rain, and they were drenched, but somehow, they didn't felt the coldness of the night. As Jiro held Joy tight in his arms, he closed his eyes, and their lips met for another long, passionate kiss.

Calvin looked outside the window, and watched the rain as it falls down. Then, he looked back at Kit. He smiled to himself, and then he walked towards her. He sat beside her, held her hand, and gave her a kiss on her forehead. “By now, maybe Joy and Jiro are finally together. I've done another good deed...” he said. He brushed her hair away from her face, and stared into her. “i was wondering when we could have our own happy ending as well... I know that will only happen if you wake up... I will still wait for that day, Kit. I promise you, I will be the first person you'll see when you wake up. We have a lot of catching up to do. I have a lot of things to tell you. I know you do as well. Kit... can you hear me? If you can hear me right now... please... please wake up. I love you... I want you to hear those words. I want you to tell me that you love me as well. Please, Kit... please...” he said. He rested his head on her shoulder, and then closed his eyes.

Joy sat by Kit's bed, and then smiled at her. “Kit... I don't know how you do it. I don't know how you were able to bear all the pain just to make us all happy. But all I know is that you are an angel to all of us your friends. I'm sorry for everything. I'm sorry for hurting you before, for taking Calvin from you.” she said. Then, she leaned towards her, and brushed her hair. “Kit... please wake up soon. Calvin have been waiting a long time for you. He loves you so much, and it's hurting us all seeing him like this. I know he is just trying to be strong in front of us, but inside he is scared to lose you. Please, wake up. We all miss you...” she said.
As Calvin entered the room, he was able to hear everything that Joy told Kit. He smiled as he walked towards the two girls. “I know Kit have forgiven you a long time ago.” he said. Joy looked at him and smiled. “She's really special. She knows that she have to do the right thing, the things that would make the people around her happy, even though it's hurting her. Crazy, right? But I love everything about her.” he said as he stared at Kit. Joy smiled at him. Then, she stood up, and gave Calvin a hug. “Thank you, Calvin. Thank you, for everything...” she said. Calvin let go of Joy, and gave her a confused look. “What for?” he asked. “I know it was through you that Jiro decided to woo me back.” she said. Calvin smiled and shook his head. “I seek Kit's help. I can't stand seeing the two of you acting like you don't love each other, even though your feelings are obvious. I don't want you guys to make the same mistakes that I did. Kit helped me in her own way, when I found her letter for Jiro. I let Jiro read that letter. She was telling him that he should be with you, because she loves seeing the two of you together.” he said. Joy smiled at him, then she reached up to him, and gave him a kiss on the cheek. She looked at Kit, and smiled. “I'm sorry if I kissed your boyfriend, Kit. Don't worry, it's just a friendly kiss.” she said. Calvin looked at Joy, and laughed at her. “You know what, it feels good...” he said. Joy shot him a confused look. “What? My kiss?” she asked. Calvin laughed again as he shook his head. “It feels good to hear you say that I'm Kit's boyfriend... but I'm not yet her boyfriend.” he said. Then, the smile on his face slowly disappeared. “I'm still her best friend, waiting for her to wake up, waiting for that chance to tell her that I love her. I'm still the best friend who's loving her all this time...” he said. Joy patted his shoulder to comfort him. “Soon, Calvin.... just wait and soon, you'll be happy. All these hardships will come to an end. Have faith, and continue to love her.” she said. Calvin smiled at her and nodded his head. “I will. I know one day, we will be happy, just like you and Jiro. I will continue to wait until that day she wakes up.”

A silent tear fell from her eyes. She tried to move, or open her eyes, but the pain she is feeling is unbearable. She felt that those littlest tasks seems so heavy, that she couldn't do anything to move any part of her body. She could feel his warm touch. She wanted so much to reach him, but her body wouldn't let her move. “Calvin... I'm doing my best for us. I'm trying my best to wake up, to survive, but with each day, I feel myself getting weaker and weaker. I want to live for you... so that I could make you feel how much I love you... you're the reason why I'm trying my best to stay alive. Calvin... hear me out. Calvin... please...” She took her last breath, and the last thing she heard, was the loud beeping of the machine...

eto na ang ending!!! sa wakas, after 6 months, natapos ko rin sya... Chapter 60 – The 100th Paper Crane Calvin watched as the doctors tries to revive Kit again. She had another attack that morning. It was all of a sudden, he was just talking to Joy, when they heard the loud beeping sound from the machine. When the two of them looked at it, it was almost coming to a flat line. Joy was holding Calvin's hands as they watched the doctors. Danson was rubbing his back to calm him down. But no matter what they do, they could not take away the fear he is feeling right now. “Calvin...” he heard Chun said. He looked at his friend. “It's OK to cry. I know you are scared... let it out. You can't always be strong... I know....” he said. Calvin turned away from him, and then eyed on Kit, who was almost dying. He could not hold back anymore. It was hurting her more, seeing the girl he loves suffer this way. He closed his eyes, and took a deep breath. And then, a tear fell from his eyes. “No...” he said in a low voice. “I... I can't lose her...” He felt his knees began to get weak. He held on to Danson for support, and Danson helped him. He could hear Joy sniffle beside her. He knows that Joy has been crying as well. He buried his head on his arm, and began to break down. “Please, Kit... please hear me... don't leave me... please...” he said in between sobs. -- The sun's rays shone on her eyes, and slowly, she opened her eyes. “Where am I?” she thought. She sat up, and saw herself in a field of roses. She looked around her, and found herself alone. She recalled the things that happened before she woke up – Calvin's gentle touch, his sad eyes, the loud gunshot, the tears falling on her cheek. Then, there was darkness. “Am I dead? Is this heaven?” she thought. “Come with me...” she heard a sweet voice say. “Come? Where?” she asked again. She stood up, and as she walked at the other side of the garden, she saw a playground. She saw a little girl in her pig tails, running around as if she's a bird. She was smiling as she was playing by herself. She looked familiar to her. “Is... is that me?” she asked. She watched the little girl closely. She found herself walking towards her. Just then, three big bullies came, and pushed her. One of them pulled her pigtail, while the other took her lollipop. “Don't!” she shouted at the bullies. As she ran towards the little girl, the three bullies ran away. The little girl stood up, and she sadly went to the swing. Kit walked towards her. As she got in front of her, she knelt down. She reached for her to wipe her tear, but then a little boy came. The little boy gave her his handkerchief, and the girl took it. “Why are you crying?” the little boy asked. The little girl just looked down, and continued to cry. “They... they took my... my lollipop...” she said in between sobs. The boy gave her a confused look. “Who?” he asked. “Those.. those bullies...” she said. Then, she looked up at him. “They... they even... pulled... my pigtails...” she said. She saw the anger in the little boy's eyes after hearing what she said. “Don't worry, I'll protect you from them.” she heard him say. Kit stood up, and looked at the children. She could clearly remember this scene. How could she ever forget the first time she met Calvin? “I know you have a lot of questions in your mind. And one of your question, is if there was a time that Calvin have loved you...” she heard the voice say again. “Did he? All this time, he only see me as a friend...” she answered. “You may not be awake, but you can hear what he says. You could hear those words that he tells you...” “Maybe he only realized that he loves me now...” “But maybe you are wrong.” “We made a pact. A promise... to not fall in love with each other. We promised that when we were still young...” “Just watch. Maybe you will get the answer with these scenes...” As she turn around, she saw another familiar scene. She saw herself inside a classroom, and she saw herself, when she was still 9 years old. As soon as she was finished, Little Kit held up a blue friendship bracelet in the air. “This is for Calvin!” she heard herself think. Then, she saw little Kit stood up from her seat and went over Calvin. “Cal! I have something for you!” she said cheerfully. She saw little Calvin look at her and smile. “What is it?” he asked. Kit smiled at him, and then held the friendship bracelet up in the air. She saw little Calvin's eyes widened, and how he smiled happily. “You're giving that to me?” little Calvin asked in disbelief. Little Kit smiled and nodded her head. Calvin smiled as he extended his arm to her. Kit sat beside him, and then put the bracelet on his wrist. “There!” she said with glee. Kit looked at little Calvin, and saw his face light up as he looked at little Kit. “Thank you, Kit. I never thought that you would give this to me.” he said. She smiled, and then looked at her younger self. “Of course...” she said in a low voice. “You're my best friend.” she and her younger self said in unison. “All this time, he still have that friendship bracelet that he gave you...” the voice said to her. “He treasures every little things that you gave him, just like how he treasured your friendship...” Kit smiled sadly as she watched the two children talk. “Because for him, I am his best friend. I am important to him...” she said. “You're right. You are very important to him...” the voice said. Kit closed her eyes for a moment, and as she opened her eyes, she found herself on the beach. She looked around, and found it very familiar. It was the very same beach that her and Calvin's family usually goes to during summer vacation. “He's not coming...” she heard a sad voice said. She walked towards the other side of the shore, and saw herself when she was already 13 years old. She was sitting on the log, and Calvin was beside her. She remembered that day as the very last summer that she waited for Jiro. “I guess he really forgot about me...” she heard herself say. She saw Calvin looked at her sadly as he comforted her as she cries. “Ssshhh... Kit... it's OK... I am here...” Calvin said. But still, she continued to cry. “I am here, Kit. You don't need him... I am here to make you happy...” Kit heard his thoughts. Ever since they were young, Calvin was the one who always makes her smile whenever she is sad. “You don't understand, Cal...” she said in between sobs. “Why? Because you have a crush on this guy? Why can't you have a crush on me?” she heard his thoughts. Kit was surprised at what she have heard. “Just watch... maybe after this, you will realize something...” she heard the voice said. Then, she smiled to herself sadly. “Now I know why... why he's mad at Jiro. Not because he is taking me away from him but because... even though when we are young...” She paused, and the looked at the two. She saw Calvin stood before Kit, and made funny faces. Then, he made a funny dance, that eventually made her smile. “See? You're much prettier when you smile. If that guy never shows up, you have to promise me that you will forget him. He only makes you cry, while I am here always trying to cheer you up. You should give me all of you attention from now on.” Calvin said. She saw herself laughing at him. “Fine! I will never wait for him again. After all, you are here with me, and you're all I ever needed to be happy.” she said. Kit looked at Calvin, and saw him blushing. “And you're all I ever needed too, Kit. We could be happy, just the two of us...” she heard him say silently. She saw Calvin took her by her hand to help her up, then they ran through the shore. “He loved me... he loved me when we were still young... he was the first one who loved me... and he was the first one who broke that promise even before we made it...” she whispered. She could feel the tears falling from her eyes. Why was she too blind before, that she didn't notice that her best friend have fallen in love with her? “Do you still remember why the two of you made that pact of not falling in love with each other?” she heard the voice said. As she looked back, she saw herself sitting by the swing at their school's playground. She have this glum on her face. She was trying to remember what happened on that day that made her really sad. “Kit! I've been looking for you!” she heard someone say. She saw Calvin walking towards her. Instead of smiling at him, she glared at him. “Aiyo! Why are you still here? If those girls see us together, they will confront me again!” she said to him. She stood up, and began to walk away from him. But as she took a step, Calvin held her hand to stop her. “Hey, what's wrong? Did I do anything to make you mad?” he asked. She took a deep breath, and then faced him again. “I don't know why you are still friends with me! When I'm with you, its either our classmates would tease me to you, or those girls that have a crush on you would bully me. Sometimes I wish you're not my best friend anymore!” she shouted at him. She walked over to them, and Kit saw the sadness registering on Calvin's face. “You... you don't want to be friends with me anymore?” he asked sadly. “I can't hang out with you if I would always get myself into fights, explaining to them that we are only best friends! I'm sick of this! I hate being teased to you... and most of all, I hate it when a mean girl comes up to me and tells me to back off from you.” she said. She saw Calvin swallowed hard. She could clearly tell that he was hurt because of what she have said. “Don't do this... don't end our friendship like this...” she heard his thoughts. “Kit... w-what... what if we promise not to fall in love with each other. We can prove to them that the two of us can only be best friends. Will... will you still stay with me and be your best friend?” he asked. She saw herself giving him a confused look. “We'll promise not to fall in love with each other?” she asked. Calvin nodded his head. “And we can tell everyone about that. If you want, I can date one of those girls who have a crush on me, to prove it. You can also go and date the guy you really like in our class. And besides, we both now what exactly happens when two best friends fell in love and jump into a relationship. When they break up, their friendship is also ruined. I don't want that to happen to us.” Calvin said. She looked at him for a while, and then smiled at Calvin. “Please don't say yes... please...” she heard him thought again. Then, she smiled. “OK. I agree. So what will happen if one of us fall for another?” she asked. “Then, we should end our friendship if that happens.” he said. Kit looked at Calvin. She could not believe the revelations coming to her. “He made that promise to please you... because you didn't want to be teased to be his girlfriend and you didn't want to be confronted by those girls who had a crush on him. But you see, it was against his will to make that promise. He did that so that you won't leave him... and most of all, he did that to make you happy...” the voice said. “And I failed to notice it before. I failed to see that he truly loves me...” she said sadly. As Kit looked up, she saw another vision. It was Calvin and Chun. “Chun, I need to talk to you...” she heard Calvin said. She saw Chun sigh, and gave him a smirk. “I know what it's all about. You'll ask the very same thing that you've been asking me since middle school.” he said. “Please? Can you do it for me? Can you not accept Kit's chocolates this time?” Calvin asked. She looked at Chun, and saw him shook his head. “Sometimes, I wonder if you really are Kit's friend. Why are you being selfish? Why can't you let her give her chocolates to me?” Chun asked. “Because I know you will only reject her. You like someone else, right? And that someone isn't Kit. Because you've been doing the very same thing I've been doing for the past few years, turning down those girls who approaches you every Valentine's day.” Calvin said in a firm tone. “Maybe I wanted to give Kit a chance this time. Maybe I do like her too...” Chun said. She saw Calvin clench his fist, and looked at him with anger in his eyes. He moved towards him, and held him by his collar. “Look, Wu. I don't want to do this every time. Just do what I said.” he said in a furious tone. Chun just laughed him off, and then put his hands away from me. “Why do you have to threaten me whenever Valentine's day approaches? I know about you and your stupid promise to Kit. Do you think you are getting obvious with your feelings for her?” he said. Calvin paused, and just stared at him. “You're in love with your best friend, right? But your best friend doesn't feel the same way for you...” Chun said. “Stop it, Wu Chun.” Calvin said. But that didn't stop Chun from talking. “What is it with your deal? Oh yeah, if one of you fell for another, you have to end your friendship. Of course, you didn't want to tell Kit that you love her, or she will end your friendship in an instant...” “i said stop it!” “But too bad, your best friend have a huge crush on me since middle school. And you know what, Kit's kinda cute, and I like her too. Maybe I should ask her to be my girlfriend this Valentine's day...” “Stop it!” “Yeah, that's a good idea. Anyways, it's our last year in high school. Kit should experience what it's like to have a boyfriend, rather than just hanging around with her coward best friend.” “Chun! I'm warning you. Stop it.” “Or maybe I should tell Kit about what I found out...” Calvin threw a punch at Chun, but he stopped his arm before his fist could reach Chun's face. “Stop it...” he said in a more calm tone. He put his fist down, and then looked down. “Stop it, Chun.” he said. “Why, does hearing the truth hurts you more? You don't want to admit to yourself that you've fallen in love with your best friend?” he asked. He looked up at Chun, and took a deep breath. “You don't know how it hurts me, Chun. You don't know how it was breaking my heart, when every time I see her, all I wanted is for us to be more than friends. I just can't go out there and ask her to stop loving you, because you don't see how happy she is whenever she is with you.” Calvin said. Then, Calvin turned his back on him, and walked away. He felt defeated knowing that Chun wouldn't listen to him this time. “You know...” Chun said. “This is our last year in high school, and after this year, we might not see each other again. Do you think it's about time that you tell Kit you love her before someone else could take her away from you?” Kit looked at Chun, and then she looked back at Calvin. “And then, that day came when he found someone else to love...” the voice said. Another vision came into her sight. She remembered it as their first day of classes at the university. They were on their way to their class, when a girl bumped in to Calvin. All of her books fell on the floor, and Calvin, being the gentleman that he is, he helped pick up the girl's books. As he stood up, he handed the book to the girl. When he looked at her face, he could that he was mesmerized by her beauty. “It was Joy...” Kit whispered as she continued to watch. “Thank you...” Joy said in her sweetest voice. Calvin was speechless as he nodded her head. “How could someone be as angelic as her?” she heard his thoughts. They both watched as the girl leaves. “Wei, Calvin... it's not as if it's the first time you've seen a pretty girl.” she heard herself commented to him. Though Joy was gone, Calvin followed her with his eyes. “Wow...” he muttered. Then, he looked at Kit and smiled. “Kit... I think I'm in love...” he said. How could she forget that day? It was the day that Calvin admitted to her for the first time that he is in love with another girl. When Calvin got to know Joy, he decided to pursue her. But then, being shy around girls, he never had much chance with Joy. In the end, he lost her to Jiro. “Why are you showing these to me? Do you want me to regret those lost time we had? Do you want me to see my heart breaking again because of him?” she asked. She closed her eyes, and let the tears fall from her eyes. “I want you to realize something, Kit...” she heard the voice said. “I realized something. That all this time, I have been blind. The love I've been longing for, it's right in front of me all this time. But I chose to ignore it, and before I knew it, it was all gone...” she said. “Kit... look up, and watch...” the voice said again. She found herself inside Calvin's room. It was dark, but she could clearly see him as he sat by his window. She walked towards him, and found that from his window, he was watching her as she sleeps. “What happened to us...” Calvin said in a low voice. “I have Joy, I should be the happiest guy in the world. Then, you found Jay is Jiro, you are now with him... I know I should be happy for you for you have finally found your first love, but I couldn't help but feel jealous of him...” she heard him say. Then, he let out a faint laugh, and looked away from the window. “I know I shouldn't feel this way. I know I should be ready for the day that you will tell me that you are in love with someone else... but still, I couldn't help but feel this way. I'm used to be the only guy in your life, the one that you always depend on. I'm used with having all of your time, to the point of you annoying me. I miss it. I miss being with you. I miss hanging out with you...” Calvin paused, and then looked outside his window again. “You've always thought that I hated Jay because he stood up on you. The truth is, I hated Jay because you gave him the love I've always wanted. I wish you could see me the way you see him. How can I make you understand that I was the one who broke our promise first? How can I make you understand that I can't stand losing you, because I love you? I thought that if I become Joy's boyfriend, I will be the happiest guy in the world, but I'm wrong. I am more happy when I'm with you. I only wanted to be with you, but each time I try to be more closer to you, you always push me away. And it's hurting me. Although I have managed to forget my feelings for you, all of it came back to me that day I found out that you were my paper crane girl. I thought we could have our chance, but you chose Jiro over me. That's why I was able to say those hurtful words. I regret saying those things, I swear, Kit... I couldn't even bear seeing you sad because of me. But I've hurt you... and because of what I did, I felt like I don't deserve your love anymore.” Kit's tears cascaded from her eyes as she listened to what he said. “I only want you to be happy, Kit. I don't want to hurt you anymore. If Jiro is the one that's making you happy, then I will keep my distance from you. I hope one day, we can be friends again. I will wait until that day comes... I'm sorry Kit. I'm sorry that I loved you. I'm sorry for hurting you. I wish you could hear me...” he said. Kit walked towards him, and reached for his shoulder. “Calvin...” she called. “I didn't know... that you were still love me all this time. I didn't know that you are willing to give me a chance. I'm sorry.... I'm sorry that I didn't have enough courage to tell you how I feel...” she whispered to him. Then, she leaned at his back, and embraced him. “Calvin... I love you... hear me, please... I love you...” She closed his eyes, and he closed his eyes as well. At that moment, their tears began to fall endlessly from their eyes. -- Calvin slowly walked inside the chapel. He went up to one of the seats, and then knelt down to pray. “God.. please... I'm begging you... please don't take her away from me...” he prayed. “I've been waiting for a long time for her to wake up. I wanted to tell her what's inside my heart. I want to make her feel that I love her. I know you've given me enough chance to tell her I love her, but I blew it off... because I was to scared to tell her. I broke her heart before, I know, but I want to make it up to her. She's still young, and she have a lot of dreams. I need her. We all need her. Please, don't take her away from us... please...” he said. Then, he lowered his head, and began to sob. Kit walked inside the chapel, and at one corner, she saw Calvin. She walked up to him, and sat beside him. For a long time, she looked at him. It breaks her heart seeing him like this – worried, scared and broken. “Calvin...” she whispered. Slowly, Calvin looked up at the cross before him. “Please, give me another chance to be with her... please, God...” he said. Kit reached up for his face to wipe the tear from his eyes. “I am here, Calvin... I am here...” she said. But Calvin remained unmoved. As her hand reaches for him, she realized that she could not touch him. She was just a mere spirit, roaming around in this world. She doesn't know what will happen next to her, if God will eventually take her in, or if He will let her live to be with the man she loves. “Calvin... I am here... look at me...” she pleaded. But still, Calvin remained unmoved. No matter how loud her voice is, she knows that Calvin will never hear her. “I love Kit... I love her very much.” he said. “Calvin... I love you too... I know now that you have loved me for so long... but I'm also scared. I'm scared of what will happen to me, to us...” she whispered to him. “She is my life... the other half of me. If she'll die, a bigger part of me will die as well....” he said. Kit felt her tears falling from her eyes upon hearing what he said. “I couldn't bear losing you too. That's why I took the bullet for you. Calvin... hear me... I am here... please...” she said to him. She lowered her head. She's too tired to let him know her presence. Then, she felt Calvin look her way. “Kit...” he said. She looked up at him, and saw him staring at her. “Calvin, do you see me? I am here...” she said. Then, he smiled and shook his head. “I'm going crazy. Why am I thinking that Kit's beside me...” he said. She bit her lips as she looked at him sadly. “Calvin... if you love me, then you should feel my presence...” she said. Then, she held his hand. At that moment, Calvin felt a cold wind touching his hand. “Kit... if you are here... please come back to me...” he said. Kit smiled and nodded her. Then, she reached up to him, and kissed his lips. As Kit kissed him, Calvin felt a cold wind touching his lips. He closed his eyes, and let the cold wind embrace his whole body. -- “I finally understand...” Kit said. “Calvin's love has always been with me. That he never stopped loving me although he set aside his feelings for me. He always cares for me, always worrying about me, he always prioritize me...” she continued. “He have always loved you...” the voice said. “Tell me, I... I will die, right? You made me realize these things because you will take me to heaven...” she asked. “I'm sorry...” the voice said. Kit smiled and nodded her head. “I understand. I know it's my time anyway. Thank you for showing the truth to me.” “It's rare for a spirit to finally accept her fate...” “Are you going to take me now?” “I'm sorry, Kit...” “Do... do I get the chance to wake up and say goodbye to the people I love?” Silence. “Kit...” “Can I tell him I love him for the last time?” “But time is running out...” “If... if we can't be together in the end... at least, I was able to tell her that I love him. It's the only thing he is waiting right now. Can... can I go back... for a while?” Silence. “Kit...” “Please?” “Maybe, it wouldn't hurt to go back... even for just few minutes...” -- He made the final fold on the paper, and then pulled it's two ends. Finally, a paper crane was formed. He smiled to himself, as he looked at it. “This is my hundredth paper crane...” Calvin said. He put it inside the jar, right beside Kit, then he stared at the girl who was sleeping peacefully on her bed. He smiled to her as he held her hand. “Today is the hundredth day that you are asleep.” he said to her. “I've been making paper cranes for you. I was wishing that you would wake up on my hundredth paper crane. Don't tell me that I have to make a thousand paper cranes before you wake up...” he said. Then he laughed to himself and shook his head. “Even if my hand gets hurt for making a paper crane for you for each day that I love you, I wouldn't. For as long as I live, and for as long as I love, I will make a paper crane each day for you...” he said. He leaned towards her, and kissed her on the lips. Then, he stared at her face lovingly as he held his hand. Then, he felt her hand move. He looked at her hand, and saw her lifting up her finger. He looked at her face again, and he saw her slowly opening her eyes. He was happy and he was speechless. He could not believe that Kit will finally wake up today. God have heard his prayers, and He have let her came back to him. “Kit...” he whispered. Kit have finally opened her eyes, and the first person she saw is Calvin. Upon seeing him, she smiled at him weakly. “Calvin...” she said in a weak voice. He felt his tears flooding his eyes as he heard her say his name. “You're awake... you're finally awake...” he said. He took her hand, and put it on his cheek. “I've waited for you, Kit. I've waited for this day. I've wanted to say a lot of things to you, and now that you are here, I guess all that I wanted to say comes down to these three words... I love you, Kit. I love you...” he whispered. Kit bit her lips as she listened to him. A single tear fell from her eye. He reached for her face, and wiped that ear from her face. “I'm sorry for everything. I'm sorry for hurting you. I'm sorry if I didn't have enough courage to tell you how I feel. Kit... I love you ever since. I was scared to tell you how I feel because everything about our friendship might change, and you might decided to leave me. I'm sorry if I was the one who break our promise first.” he said. Kit let out a weak smile and shook her head. “You don't have to be sorry because of what happened, Calvin...” she said. “When you're near it seems that I took you for granted, but during the time that we were apart, I realized that your love has been a part of my life. I love you, Katherine. I will love you until forever...” he said. “I... I love you too, Calvin. I love you more than beyond a reason why. I will love you until my last breath...” she said. He smiled at her, and then he leaned towards her again, this time, giving her a long, passionate kiss. As they kissed, Kit closed her eyes and let the tears fall from his eyes. After they broke apart, Calvin stared into Kit's eyes lovingly. He wanted so much to remember this day, this day that they finally got together. After all the heartaches they've been through, finally, they have found their happy ending. Or so he thought. “I love you...” he whispered to him. “And I will never stop saying that to you...” he added. Kit smiled and nodded his head. As Calvin sat up, he saw Kit's parent inside the room. They were just as surprised as he is to find Kit finally awake. “My baby...” Mrs. Jin said as she walked towards her bed. Kit looked up at them smiled. “Mom... dad...” she whispered. “Baby... my little princess is awake now...” Mr. Jin said. She saw her dad turn away from her to hide his tears, but nevertheless, she saw his tears of joy. She looked at the people she love – her mom, her dad, and most of all, Calvin. They are all happy to see her finally awake, but it was a heartbreaking scene for her. “God... please give me more time... to be with them...” she prayed. Then, Calvin stood up from his seat. “I'll go and get the doctor so that he could check on Kit.” he told her parents. As he turned to leave, he felt Kit's hand tug him. He looked back at her, and smiled. He failed to see the sadness embedded in his eyes. “i love you, Calvin... I love you... always remember that...” she said. Calvin smiled and nodded his head. Then, he went out of the room. As soon as Calvin left, she turned to her parents, and smiled at them. “Mom, dad... I love you. I love you... I'm sorry for everything...” she said. She stared at them for a long time, and then slowly closed her eyes to take another long and peaceful slumber. Forever... -- “Doctor!” Calvin said as soon as he saw Kit's doctor. The doctor just smiled at him. “What is it, son?” he asked. “She's awake! She's finally awake! Can you go to her room, and check on her?” he said. The doctor nodded his head. As they were walking towards Kit's room, they saw three nurses and another doctor rushing up to kit's room. “Code red! Code red!” he heard one of the nurses said. The doctor didn't waste any time, and immediately followed them. Calvin felt his heart beating faster, as he rush up to her room. When he entered the room, he saw the doctors trying to revive Kit again. At that scene, he felt as if someone splashed cold water at his back. He is losing Kit again, and this time, it's for real. “No...” he whispered. He shook his head as he watched them. He looked at her parents, and saw her mom crying. He swallowed hard, and he felt a tear fell from his eyes. “You can't leave me, Kit... you can't... not now... not now that we're together. Please... come back to me. Please... don't leave me...” he prayed. He looked at the machine beside Kit, and saw it almost coming to a flat line. “Kit... please... be strong... you have awaken. You can't leave me forever... I love you...” he said. Then there was silence. He looked at Kit, and saw her lying lifeless on her bed. He looked back at the machine, and saw the flat line on it. “She's gone...” he heard someone say. And with that, Calvin felt his knees began to get weak. He slowly slipped into the floor, and broke down. Finally, she was out of his life. Forever... -- Kit stood before the white light. “Kit, it's time...” she heard the voice said. Kit closed her eyes, and let a tear fall from her eyes. “I know...” she whispered. She took her first step towards the light, and then she paused. She looked back, and she saw Calvin crying at one corner of the hospital room. He was crying for her loss. He was crying because after she said the things he wanted to hear, she chose to leave him behind. She know she have broken his heart once again, but this is her fate. “I'm sorry...” she whispered. Then, she began to run... -- It was evening. Calvin stood before the empty hospital room. He stared at the empty bed, where Kit used to be at. He remembered the memories he had in the span of 100 days that he's here, patiently waiting for Kit to wake up. And while he's waiting for her, it was in this room that he witnessed how things got into their right place. It was in this room that he witnessed the love confessions of his friends, and how they planned to have wonderful night with the one they love. It was in this room that his friends shared with him his tears, especially during the times that he almost lost Kit. It was also in this room that he was able to tell Kit what's inside his heart. Although she's asleep, he knows that Kit could hear those words of love he have whispered to her. Then, the day finally came for Kit to wake up. He was able to tell her everything, and she told him that she loves him. He thought that after she woke up, everything will finally be back in it's place, but he was wrong. “Cal...” he heard someone call. He looked back, and saw Danson coming up to him. “Kit... she's...” he said. He wasn't able to continue what he was about to say, but Danson understood it after all. “I know.” he said. He sighed, and then, he looked at Calvin. “Everyone should move on... even you...” he said. Calvin smiled sadly and nodded his head. “I know.” he said. “I will sure miss this room. We used to hang out here the whole vacation, waiting for Kit to wake up. We shared secrets here, and most of all, we all got closer while being with Kit. I guess if there's a good thing that came from all the things that happened, it's that we all got closer, and that we got more matured.” Danson said. “I will miss her...” Danson added. “But she will always be in our hearts... she will always be the biggest part of me. And I know, I will always love her...” Calvin said. “You're going to be OK, Calvin. I know that.” Danson said. Calvin looked at him, and for the first time, he smiled warmly at him. “I know...” he said. Then, turned their backs to leave the room. Calvin turned the lights off before closing the door behind him. As he closed the door, he finally realized that it's time to move one. Whenever I'm weary From the battles that rage in my head You make sense of madness When my sanity hangs by a thread I lose my way But still you seem to understand Now and forever I will be your man... -- Two Years Later... Calvin sat outside the balcony. He was folding a piece of paper in his hand, and finally, he made it. It was another paper crane. He stared at it, and felt satisfied with his work. He smiled to himself as he put the new paper crane he made in a jar, together with the other paper cranes he have been making for the last two years. He shrugged his shoulder, and then looked outside. The sky outside is blue, and there were no clouds in sight. It was a perfect day, he knows. It was just a perfect day for one of his plans. “Calvin...” he heard someone call. He looked back, and saw his mom smiling at him. “Its time...” she said. Calvin smiled at her and nodded his head. Before he leaves, he looked at the jar filled with paper cranes. “Wait for me... I'm coming for you...” he said. Then, he turned to leave. -- He walked through the grassy ground of the cemetery. His eyes caught the familiar name on the grave. He paused as soon as he reached it, then he knelt down. He carefully placed the flowers on her grave, and close his eyes to offer his prayers. Then, he stood up, and smiled. “Thank you... thank you for everything...” he said. “I know that you're watching us from above. I hope you will continue to watch over us. No matter what happened in the past, you are still a part of us.” he said. “Today's the day... and you know, I'm quite nervous. I don't know if she would accept me or not. I want to take every chance with her.... I hope you could enlighten her and tell her to accept me. I hope you could help me make her realize that I truly love her... that I want to be with her with each day that I live. I love her so much...” he said. He felt a cold wind gusting over him, making him shiver. As he felt that cold wind, he laughed. “I know, I know. I'm talking a lot again, am I? And I know what you are trying to say. I should go to her now, and not make her wait. I will. Thank you... thank you for everything....” he said. Then, he turned his back and began to walk away from Trixie's grave. With that gust of wind, he know that she have given him her blessings to start a new life with the girl he loves. -- Chun and Jiro were at the gym that afternoon, making the preparation for Calvin's big day. As soon as they were finished, they looked around, satisfied with what they have done. “The place is just... so... so...” Chun said. Jiro looked at him, and gave him a smirk. “Romantic?” he asked. Chun smiled at him and nodded his head. “Never thought Calvin would still have this romantic bone left in his body. Imagine, having to do all of this for this girl. He must really love her. The way he -” Then Chun paused, and Jiro could see the smile on his face slowly disappear. He knows that Chun remembered the past again, and just like before, he would cry upon remembering it. “Hey, hey, don't tell me you're going to cry again.” Jiro said. Chun looked up at him, and laughed. “Sorry, I couldn't help it. Especially when I remember all the things that happened in the past before Calvin could finally have this happiness he have always wanted.” he said. Jiro smiled at him, and nodded in agreement. “It's about time for Calvin to be happy. He have waited for this moment for so long, and as his friends, we should always support him. Just like how he supported us back then.” Jiro said. Then, he heard Chun laugh. “Man, this is getting cheesy...” he said. With what he said, Jiro couldn't help but laugh at him as well. Just then, Joy came inside the gym. “Are you guys done yet?' she asked in a panicked tone. The two nodded their heads. “Look, hunny... isn't this place a dream?” Jiro said as he put his arm around her. He looked at her, and saw the worried look in his girlfriend's face. “Their food is not ready yet. The musician they have hired canceled at the last minute...” she said worriedly. Jiro smiled at her, and pulled her closer to him. “Hunny, you're worrying a lot. If the musician canceled at the last minute, maybe Chun and I could be the substitute. As for the food, aren't you supposed to be working on it?” he asked. “But there's another thing that's making me worried.” she said. Chun and Jiro just looked at Joy as she began to speak again. “She's gone missing.” she said. Chun and Jiro looked at each other, then looked at Joy with a panicked look. “What?!” They both said in unison. -- Now I can rest my worries And always be sure That I won't be alone anymore If I'd only known you were there all the time... All this time... -- She walked towards her grave, and as she got nearer, she saw a bouquet of flowers carefully laid on her grave. She smiled to herself. She knew who have came here a while ago. “He never fails to remember...” she thought. She laid the flowers she have brought beside his flowers. For a while, she closed her eyes, and said a silent prayer for her. She was like that for a moment, and then she felt a soft breeze hugging her body. She opened her eyes, and then smiled. She could feel her presence, and she could tell she was happy to see her by her grave. “We miss you. Thank you for everything... thank you for the small gift that you have given us...” she whispered. “I knew you'd be here...” she heard someone say. She looked back, and saw Danson walking up to her. “Everyone's panicking because you've gone missing. You have no plans of ditching Calvin today, right?” he asked. She laughed at him, and nodded her head. “I have no plans, Danson. I'm here to visit her again...” she said. Danson just smiled at her. “I know. Despite all the things that happened, you still considered her as a vital part of your love story with Calvin, right?” he said. She nodded her head. “She will always be a part of us...” she said. “As far as I can see, you're not the only one who paid her a visit. Calvin also did.” he said as he eyes on the bouquet of flowers. It was peach roses, and he knows exactly what it meant. Then, he looked at her again. “I think we should get going. Everyone's waiting for you.” he said. She smiled again and nodded her head. She took his hand and together, they left the cemetery. -- She entered the gym, and found it filled with pink balloons. As she looked up, she saw soft feathers falling from the ceiling as if they were snows. She reached out her hand and let a feather fall on the palm of her hand. She stared at it, and then smiled at herself. She looked around the place, and found herself all alone. She smiled again, for she knows Calvin is preparing another surprise for her. Since they got together, he never failed to surprise her to make her happy. Each day she spent with him is filled with happiness. She never thought someone like him could give him the love she have always wanted. And he is all she ever wanted and needed in her life. Calvin came out from the other side of the gym. He walked slowly and carefully, as he watched the girl he loves looked around the gym with amazement. He smiled to himself as he saw her lips curve into a smile. He took a step towards then, and with every step, he remembered the past. He remembered all the events that brought them together in this moment. Of all the wrong things he have done in the past, he must have done something good to deserve her love. Each time he looks at her, he thank God for giving her to him. He thank Him for hearing his prayers. He could still remember that heartbreaking day. He was not expecting anymore miracles, for he have asked too much. The mere fact that she woke up to hear what he have to say, and that she was able to tell him that she loves him, it was more than enough. But that day, God has given him another gift. It was her. She is his miracle. And he treasure her more than anything in his life. The doctors have declared Kit dead. He have given up, finally accepting the fact that they will never be together. God have better plans for them, and he knows that Kit will be happy in His hand. A few minutes after being declared dead, a miracle happened. He could still remember the sound of machine starting to beep again. The flat line began to curve. He could still hear her first breath as she began to live again. Yes, Kit survived. It was a miracle no one ever thought would happen. Since that day, he promised himself he will never lose this girl. He will do his best to keep her by her side, and to make her happy. If he have failed to keep his promise before, this time, he is more than decided to keep it. He loves her too much, and there's nothing in this world he wouldn't do for her. Kit saw him standing before her. She looked up at him, and smiled at him. “Hey...” she said. Calvin smiled back at her as he moved closer to her. “Hey...” he said. “One of your surprises, I assume.” she said. Calvin nodded his head. “Let me guess, the guys helped you out for this surprise, am I right?” she asked. “They are more than happy to help us, you know...” he said. “Don't we have the greatest friends?” she said. Calvin nodded his head again. She looked closely at him, and noticed that he's hiding something at his back. “What's that? Another surprise?” she asked. Calvin laughed a little, and then let her see his other surprise. -- Until the day the ocean doesn't touch the sand... Now and forever, I will be your man... -- “Katherine Jin...” Calvin said as he showed her the jar of paper cranes in his hand. “I love you. I love you with all that I have. I love, and there's nothing I wouldn't to do to make you smile...” he said. Kit was surprised to see the jar filled with paper cranes. She stared at it for a while, and then looked up at Calvin. “Calvin...” she whispered. “I... I made this paper cranes since the day you got into coma. I made one each day for you, to let you know that I love you... just like how you made a paper crane back then, to let me know that you love me...” he said. He took a deep breath, and then stared into her eyes again. He felt like being lost again into those big, black orbs. “My love for you is just like these paper cranes inside this jar. Everyday, they all add up. With each passing day, I'm loving you even more...” he said. Kit bit her lips, as he felt a tear fall from her eyes. She was very touched with what he have said. She looked up at him, and waited for him to speak again. “I want to give you this paper cranes, because I want you to know that I love you so much. I will love you until my very last breath. I will love you until I am no longer capable of making these paper cranes. For all of my life, it will always be you that's inside my heart. And I am giving this to you, and with this, I am giving you not only my heart, but my life... all of me... because all that I am now is because of your love.” he said. Calvin handed Kit the jar, and as she took it, she heard some clinking sound inside. “What's that?” she asked. She open the lid of the jar, and on top of one of the paper cranes, she saw a solitary diamond ring. She was too surprised at what she saw, that she didn't notice Calvin coming up to him to take the ring inside the jar. She looked at him, and watched him as he bended on his knees. “Oh my God...” she said as she covered her mouth. She could not believe that this is happening to her. Tears began to cascade from her eyes as her eyes met his. And she could also clearly see the tears I his own eyes. “Kit... Katherine... I love you. You may get tired hearing that from me, but I will never ever get tired of saying it to you. I love you so much... all I want to do for the rest of my life is to wake up each morning with you beside me. I want to hold you tight each night as we sleep. I just dont want you to be in my dreams, I want be with you with my each waking hour. I want to be the first person you see in the morning, and the last person you'll see before you sleep at night. I want to be the person whom you'll grow old with, who'll take care of you when you are sick, who'll take away your fears whenever you're scared. I want to be your man, the only man in your life...” he said. He took her hand, and held it tight as he looked up at her again. “Katherine Jin, may I have the honor of spending the rest of my life with you? Will you marry me?” he asked. Kit slowly nodded her head. “Yes, I want to spend the rest of my life with, Calvin. I'm willing to be your wife...” she said. Calvin was more than happy upon hearing her answer. He slipped the ring on her finger, and then stood up. Kit smiled as she stared at the ring on her finger. Then, he looked up at him. “Honestly, I wasn't too sure if you would say yes to me. So I asked for a divine intervention for our friend, Trixie...” he said. Kit laughed at what he said. “I know, wherever she is, she's happy for the two of us...” she said. Calvin smiled and nodded his head. “I... I can't believe this is happening. I've always dreamed you would pop the question to me, and now it's all too real. I felt like I'm in a dream, and I don't ever want to wake up from this dream...” she said. He stared at her lovingly as he cupped her cheeks. “This is not a dream, Kit. This is more than a dream... far more better than a dream... because each day that I'm with you is like a beautiful dream I wouldn't want to wake up from...” he said. “I love you, Calvin Chen...” she said. “I love you more, Katherine Jin-Chen...” he said. He leaned over her, and as she closed her eyes, their lips touched in a long and loving kiss.. -- The princess finally found her happy ending with her one true love, her prince charming, her knight in shining armour, her everything... -- Now and forever...
